To loop yoga videos during a YouTube Live broadcast, send the videos from a looping source such as OBS to YouTube’s Live Control Room. A YouTube playlist organizes videos for viewers; it does not itself provide the repeating video feed for an encoder-based live stream.
Choose how the yoga content should repeat
Use OBS with a Media Source if you have one long video file. To repeat several files in a set order, use OBS’s VLC Video source. These are local playback sources: your computer runs the media and sends the resulting broadcast to YouTube.
| Your material | OBS source | Loop control |
|---|---|---|
| One local video file | Media Source | Enable Loop to restart the file when it ends. |
| Several local files | VLC Video | Enable Loop Playlist to restart the list after its last item. |
A YouTube playlist is a collection of watch-page videos with a privacy setting, not an encoder input. To use a collection of files as the repeated source for a live broadcast, add them to OBS’s VLC Video playlist instead. YouTube’s playlist instructions explain how to create and manage YouTube playlists.
Prepare the channel and clear the content
Confirm that the channel can stream
YouTube says live streaming requires a verified channel with no live-stream restrictions during the preceding 90 days. Create or schedule the broadcast in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and choose encoder streaming. Follow the stream setup values shown there when connecting OBS. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance.

Check music and video rights before going live
Do not assume that a song available on YouTube, or included in a personal playlist, is cleared for rebroadcast. You need permissions that cover the live use of the video and its audio. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; unresolved matches may interrupt or terminate a stream. Even when you have a license, the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Review YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams and resolve any relevant permissions before scheduling.
Set up a looping stream in OBS
- Prepare your files. Gather the yoga video or videos you have permission to broadcast. Decide whether to loop one file or a sequence of files.
- Create the live event. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room, create or schedule the stream, and select the encoder workflow. Keep the stream setup details available for OBS.
- Make an OBS scene. Add a scene, then add either a Media Source for one file or a VLC Video source for multiple files.
- Configure one-file playback. For a Media Source, select the local file and enable Loop. When playback reaches the end, OBS should restart that file.
- Configure a playlist. For VLC Video, add the files and arrange them in the order you want. Enable Loop Playlist. Leave shuffle off if the sequence matters. OBS requires VLC to be installed for the VLC Video source; with 64-bit OBS, OBS specifies 64-bit VLC.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS’s stream settings, use the stream setup values displayed in YouTube’s Live Control Room. Treat the stream key as private; anyone with access to it may be able to broadcast to your event.
- Start and verify the encoder feed. Start streaming from OBS, then check the incoming preview and status in YouTube Studio. Start the broadcast from the Live Control Room once the feed is ready.
- Monitor playback. Keep an eye on OBS and YouTube Studio during the session so you can respond to playback problems, warnings, or an interrupted feed.
What a local OBS setup depends on
With this method, the computer must remain on and available, OBS must keep running, the media source must continue playing, and the network must stay connected for the broadcast. The OBS and YouTube documentation describes the setup, but does not promise unattended reliability.

Fix common looping and live-stream problems
- The only video plays once and stops: Open the OBS Media Source properties and confirm Loop is enabled.
- The playlist stops after its last item: Open the VLC Video source settings and confirm Loop Playlist is enabled.
- The files play in the wrong order: Reorder them in the VLC playlist and disable shuffle if you need a fixed sequence.
- VLC Video is missing in OBS: Install VLC. If OBS is 64-bit, use 64-bit VLC as specified by OBS.
- YouTube will not let the channel go live: Check channel verification and whether a live-stream restriction applies within the preceding 90 days.
- YouTube interrupts or terminates the stream: Check Live Control Room for warnings or strikes and review the identified third-party content. Confirm you have live-stream rights; if content is licensed, ask the rights holder whether your channel must be allowlisted through Content ID.
