Create a Wi-Fi QR code from your saved network on Android, or use a generator to make a printable code. Before sharing it, test that a guest’s phone can scan it and connect—and use a guest network if the code will be visible to other people.
Choose how to make the code
| Method | Best for | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Android Wi-Fi settings | Quickly sharing a saved network from a supported Android phone | Google’s documented route displays a QR code another device can scan. Phone menus can vary by manufacturer and OS version. |
| Wi-Fi QR generator | Making a static image to save or print, including for a network not available through Android’s sharing screen | You enter the SSID, security type, password, and—if needed—whether the network is hidden. A generator may handle special-character formatting, but privacy practices differ by service. |
Make a Wi-Fi QR code on Android
- Open Settings → Network & internet → Internet.
- Tap the saved Wi-Fi network you want guests to use.
- Tap Share. Your device displays a QR code that another device can scan. Google’s Android Help describes this flow in Connect to Wi-Fi networks on your Android device.
- Have a guest scan the code and accept the join prompt. Menu labels may differ on your phone.
Some manufacturer interfaces provide a similar sharing option. Samsung Care’s 2022 instructions describe a QR Code option in Wi-Fi settings, but menus can change; see Samsung’s Wi-Fi sharing instructions.

Make a printable code with a generator
- Choose the network. Use a separate guest Wi-Fi network if the code will be displayed where visitors or other people can see it.
- Enter the credentials exactly. Supply the network name (SSID), password, and security type. Match capitalization and punctuation to the router’s settings.
- Set any extra options. If the network is hidden, mark it as hidden in the generator.
- Generate and save the image. The familiar Wi-Fi QR format encodes the security type, SSID, and password. Characters such as semicolons, commas, colons, backslashes, and quotation marks need correct escaping. Prefer a generator that handles this rather than manually constructing the encoded text.
- Test before printing. Scan the saved image with a phone, confirm a join prompt appears, and check that the device connects successfully.
Do not assume a generator processes credentials only on your device; services’ privacy practices differ. Choose one you are comfortable trusting with the network details you enter.
Check security before displaying the code
A Wi-Fi QR code is not a password vault. The pattern contains connection details in readable form, so someone who can scan or photograph a displayed code may be able to obtain the network credentials. Treat a public or semi-public display as sharing the password, and use a guest network that separates visitors from household devices. OpenQR describes the code as containing the password in plain, readable text in its Wi-Fi QR code guidance.
#1 Best Overall
- SCAN AND CONNECT IN SECONDS: Guests point any iPhone or Android camera at the QR code and join your network instantly, with no typing, no app, and no more repeating your password - perfect when visitors or customers walk in
- YOUR PASSWORD STAYS PRIVATE: Unlike traditional signs, your credentials are never printed on the display, so guests connect instantly without typing password while your actual password stays hidden on sign - ideal for busy counters in public view
- CHANGE YOUR WIFI ANYTIME: Update your network name or password from the included online dashboard and the same sign keeps working, with no reprinting and no new sign to buy - perfect when you switch routers or rotate passwords
- PREMIUM FREESTANDING ACRYLIC: Scratch-resistant, water-resistant acrylic with a stable base sits on any counter, tabletop, nightstand, or reception desk with no drilling, no adhesive, and no wall damage - ready right out of the box
- MADE FOR HOSTS AND BUSINESSES: A polished fit for restaurants, cafes, salons, offices, hotels, vacation rentals, and guest rooms at home - setup takes about two minutes with a smartphone and the free account included with your sign
If you change the Wi-Fi password, make and distribute a new code. A static QR image cannot update itself when credentials change.
Let guests scan the code easily
- Leave a clear blank margin around the printed code.
- Place it on a stable sign or table tent where guests can see and reach it.
- Avoid glare that can make a phone camera struggle to focus.
iPhone scanning and QR-code creation
iPhones can scan Wi-Fi QR codes with the Camera app. The available official Apple information does not establish a current iPhone flow for generating a Wi-Fi code, so do not rely on a particular iPhone menu path. For a printable code, use a generator that accepts the network’s SSID, security type, and password.
