1. Find what is using the battery
Start with the phone’s battery-usage details instead of applying restrictions across the board. Be cautious with apps you depend on for timely communication, calls, navigation, security, accessibility, wearables, or work. Leave their battery behavior unrestricted if restrictions interfere with the service you need. 3. Choose a refresh rate that suits your use
If your OnePlus has a screen refresh-rate setting, Standard is a practical everyday choice when battery life matters more than the smoothest motion. On devices using the documented OxygenOS 14.0 layout, the path is Settings > Display & brightness > Screen refresh rate. Because restrictions may affect apps and device features, Battery Saver is not the best default if you need all background behavior and alerts unchanged. 5. Check battery health if settings are not enough
Software changes can reduce avoidable power use, but they cannot restore capacity lost through battery wear. The OnePlus Open manual describes Maximum capacity as an estimate compared with the battery when new; a lower estimate means less time between charges. If battery health is materially reduced and runtime remains poor, consider model-appropriate service or replacement. 6. Adjust optional charging and performance settings
Optimised charging
The OnePlus Open manual describes Optimised charging as learning charging habits and delaying completion past 80% until shortly before expected use, with selectable modes. High performance and sleep standby
On the OnePlus Open, High performance mode increases power consumption. Sleep standby optimization can reduce power use while you sleep, but the manual also says it reduces notifications. These are optional trade-offs: avoid a sleep setting that suppresses alerts you need overnight, and do not leave High performance enabled if its extra responsiveness is not useful to you. - Choose Standard refresh rate for routine use if your phone provides it; retain a higher rate where smoothness matters.
- Turn on Battery Saver when its app and feature restrictions are acceptable for the situation.
- Check battery health when runtime remains poor despite selective software adjustments.
OnePlus manuals document different controls on different models and software releases, so no single menu path or option is universal. If an instruction does not match your phone, search Settings for “Battery,” “Battery usage,” or the setting name and follow your device’s displayed options. These adjustments can address avoidable drain, but the manuals do not establish a guaranteed percentage gain or number of extra hours.
