YouTube’s playlist Loop control repeats videos for someone watching a playlist; it does not make a YouTube Live broadcast replay that playlist. To show sermon videos in sequence on a live channel, set the sequence to repeat in the source or encoder sending the broadcast, then test and monitor it in YouTube Live Control Room.
Why YouTube’s playlist Loop button does not control Live
YouTube documents Loop as a playback feature: viewers can repeat a video or playlist while watching it. That setting affects their playback, not the feed being broadcast to YouTube Live. A live stream is sent from a source—such as an encoder—to YouTube, so the repeating sequence must be arranged at that source. YouTube Help: loop videos or playlists and YouTube Help: get started with live streaming describe these separate functions.

Looping a playlist for an individual viewer
For ordinary playlist playback, open a video in the playlist on a computer, expand the playlist, and click Loop. On Android, play the playlist and tap Loop in the playlist controls. This makes that viewer’s playlist repeat; it does not send a repeating program to a live audience.

For a pre-arranged set of sermon recordings, use a live-streaming source or encoder that can play the selected videos in order and repeat them. YouTube’s setup guidance lists mobile, webcam, and encoder streaming methods. An encoder/source workflow is the relevant broad approach for sending a prepared sequence, but YouTube’s guidance does not provide a product-specific playlist automation recipe. Exact controls vary by the software you choose.

- Prepare the sermon videos. Decide which recordings belong in the sequence and put them in the intended order in the chosen source or encoder. Confirm that the church has the rights or permissions needed to broadcast every recording, including any music or other material in it.
- Set the source to repeat. In the selected software, configure playback of the chosen videos in order and enable repeat or loop for that sequence. The control name and steps depend on the product; do not use YouTube’s viewer-facing playlist Loop button as a substitute.
- Connect the source to YouTube Live. Use YouTube’s encoder setup flow and the stream key for the intended broadcast. Treat the stream key as a credential: do not publish or share it with viewers. Follow YouTube’s current live-stream setup instructions for the interface and connection details.
- Test before announcing the stream. YouTube recommends a test live stream. Start with the intended sequence and inspect the Live Control Room preview before going public. Confirm that both picture and sound are present and that the correct sermon appears.
- Monitor the broadcast. Watch the Live Control Room while live for stream quality and unexpected interruptions. Verify that playback advances through the sequence and returns to its beginning as intended.
Eligibility, copyright, and what viewers can do
Check whether the channel can go live
YouTube’s stated eligibility guidance requires a verified channel with no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. Check the channel’s current status before scheduling a broadcast; YouTube may update eligibility requirements, so consult its official live-streaming guidance.
Review rights for every recording
A recording being available on YouTube or owned by the church does not by itself establish that all included material may be rebroadcast. Check permissions for sermons, music, slides, clips, and other third-party content before streaming. A repeating live broadcast is still a public use of that material and may be subject to YouTube’s copyright rules.

DVR is not playlist automation
YouTube Live DVR lets viewers pause, rewind, and continue during a stream when available. YouTube says DVR capabilities may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. DVR changes viewer controls; it does not replay your sermon sequence. See YouTube Help on DVR in live streams.
Common problems and fixes
- The playlist repeats for you, but the live audience does not see it: you enabled viewer playback Loop. Configure repeat in the source or encoder that sends the broadcast instead.
- The Live Control Room preview is blank or has no sound: check that the selected source is playing, that the encoder is sending its output to the intended YouTube stream, and that the source’s audio is included. Test again before going public.
- The wrong sermon plays or the order is unexpected: review the sequence in the source/encoder and run a complete test, including the transition from the last item back to the first.
- The channel cannot start a stream: check verification and whether a live-stream restriction applies, then consult YouTube’s current eligibility guidance.
- Viewers cannot rewind a long broadcast: DVR availability can be limited or unavailable when a stream exceeds 12 hours. Do not rely on DVR to replay the playlist.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the sermons are uploaded recordings and the goal is an always-on YouTube channel, StreamNeo can loop uploaded videos or playlists from the cloud. Upload the recordings, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it plays uploads rather than broadcasting a live camera. The stream runs at the quality uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. Start your free day on StreamNeo.
