To run a 24/7 YouTube music stream with one still image, send a video feed containing that image and your music to a YouTube Live event using an encoder. You can run the encoder on a computer, or use a YouTube-focused cloud service such as StreamNeo to loop uploaded videos without keeping a computer on. Before choosing either route, confirm that your music is cleared for live use: YouTube scans live streams for third-party content and may interrupt or terminate a broadcast.
Choose how to keep the stream running
The two practical routes are an encoder on your own computer or a cloud service. A local encoder gives you control and may use hardware you already own, but the computer, internet connection, power and encoder must remain stable. A cloud service avoids leaving a computer running at home. YouTube lists software and hardware encoder options, and describes Gyre as a cloud-based option for continuous streaming of prerecorded video; its current terms and pricing are not established here.
- StreamNeo: runs an always-on YouTube stream from the cloud, at any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, with the first day free.
- Computer encoder: use OBS or another encoder to combine the still image and music, then send the feed to YouTube. This is the do-it-yourself method detailed below.
- Hardware encoder: YouTube lists hardware encoders as an option, but one is not required for a static image and music.
Check channel eligibility and enable live streaming
YouTube’s current Help guidance says a channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. The streamer must be at least 16. First-time live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before the planned broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance and encoder setup instructions.
Prepare the image, music and rights
Build the visual and audio feed
In your encoder, add the artwork as the video source and route the music into the audio source. A still image does not remove the need to send a video signal: the encoder must keep producing a live feed while the audio plays. YouTube’s encoder guidance does not prescribe a particular image-looping method or music-player setup, so configure and test those parts in your chosen software.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Clear the music for a live broadcast
You are responsible for having the necessary rights for the live content, including applicable music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other rights participants. A track being labeled “free,” purchased, or credited in the description does not by itself establish permission for a live stream. Check that your license covers the intended use and territory. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions set out the rights requirement.
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. It may replace the stream with a placeholder image, interrupt it, or terminate it if the content remains. If you have licensed music, YouTube advises asking the rights owner to allowlist your channel through Content ID; a license alone may not prevent an interruption when the channel is not allowlisted.

Create a YouTube Live event and connect the encoder
- In YouTube Studio, open Go Live and create or schedule a stream using the encoder workflow.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the event into the corresponding server and key fields in your encoder. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains this workflow.
- Treat the stream key like a password. Anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your event; do not publish it or include it in a screenshot.
- Set the event’s visibility and details as you intend, then check that the encoder is sending the correct image and audio to the event preview.
Set encoder output for a stable stream
YouTube’s published recommendations are starting points, not settings experimentally optimized for static artwork. Choose a resolution and bitrate your sustained upload connection can support, and test before broadcasting. Its encoder settings and bitrate table recommends RTMPS for secure ingestion, H.264 video, constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval (not more than four seconds), and AAC or MP3 audio.
| Output target | YouTube H.264 recommended bitrate | Other baseline settings |
|---|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps | CBR; two-second keyframe interval recommended, no more than four seconds; AAC or MP3 audio |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | CBR; two-second keyframe interval recommended, no more than four seconds; AAC or MP3 audio |
These figures are YouTube recommendations for the listed H.264 output modes, not a guarantee that a connection can sustain them. A fixed image may not need a high resolution for visual detail, but do not reduce settings without testing stream stability and audio. Leave upload capacity beyond the configured stream bitrate for connection variation and other network traffic.

Test, go live and monitor
- Run a speed test and make a private or unlisted rehearsal. YouTube recommends testing before going live; its encoder settings guidance and Live Control Room guidance cover stream checks.
- Start the encoder and inspect the Live Control Room preview and stream-health messages. Confirm the image is visible, audio is audible and not distorted, and the event is accessible as intended.
- If recording locally, verify that the recording file is being written and grows during the test. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup for long streams.
- Start the broadcast using the Live Control Room prompts. Continue monitoring stream health and audio/video quality. A computer-based setup is not guaranteed to run unattended: power, internet, operating-system stability and encoder operation can all interrupt it.
Plan around YouTube’s archive and DVR limits
A 24-hour event is not a reliable way to preserve a complete YouTube replay. YouTube says streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all, and recommends a local archive backup. If replay retention matters, keep each event below 12 hours and arrange shorter scheduled segments. Reconnecting between segments depends on the workflow you choose. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.
Do not promise viewers they can rewind to the beginning of a continuous broadcast. YouTube’s DVR guidance says the ability to pause and rewind may be reduced or unavailable when a stream is longer than 12 hours.

Troubleshoot common problems
- Live streaming is not available yet: confirm verification and eligibility, then allow up to 24 hours for first-time enablement to take effect.
- The event does not receive video: check that the encoder uses the stream URL and key for the intended event, and that its image source is active.
- Stream health reports instability: lower the output bitrate or resolution to a level the connection can sustain, check other network use, and rehearse again before restarting the public event.
- The image appears but audio is missing or distorted: verify the correct audio source is routed to the encoder, check its level, and listen to the preview or a local test recording.
- YouTube interrupts the broadcast: review the stream’s copyright notices and confirm that the music license covers live use. For licensed music matched by Content ID, ask the rights owner about allowlisting your channel.
- The replay is missing or incomplete: a stream over 12 hours may not be captured. Use a local recording and shorter events if a complete archive is important.
- The stream stops when you leave: a local encoder depends on the computer, power and network staying active. For a cloud-run YouTube stream, StreamNeo can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The service loops the uploaded videos from the cloud; it does not stream from a camera or send to platforms other than YouTube.
- Nothing has to stay on at home: the stream runs in the cloud rather than on your computer or home connection.
- Whatever you upload streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot rather than quality tiers.
- It automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free with no card required.
Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo for details, then start your free day.
