To run a 24/7 deep house radio stream on YouTube, prepare a verified channel, clear the music for continuous livestream use, assemble an audio-and-visual program, send it through an encoder, and test it privately before launch. The stream needs an audio/video source and an encoding process that stays online; YouTube’s copyright checks still apply, even when the broadcast is continuous.
What you need before going live
- A channel with live access: YouTube requires channel verification and no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. For a first broadcast, YouTube for Artists advises enabling live streaming at least 24 hours beforehand. Check the channel’s current status in YouTube Studio. YouTube’s live-streaming access guidance
- A cleared music program: Use music you control or have permission to livestream, including any monetization and territories you intend to cover. A 24/7 schedule does not exempt the broadcast from copyright enforcement.
- An audio/video source and encoder: YouTube receives a live audio-video feed. Pair the music with artwork, a motion loop, or a visualizer, then use an encoder to send the program to YouTube. - A plan for interruptions: A 24/7 stream depends on the source, encoder, host, and network remaining available. Decide how you will notice and recover from failures rather than assuming a process will never stop.
Choose how to keep the feed running
Desktop with OBS
A desktop workflow is a practical starting point if you already have a computer and want a graphical interface. The computer, OBS, source media, and internet connection must remain available for the broadcast to continue. Plan for power, operating-system updates, network interruptions, and what you will do if OBS or the computer stops.
Server with FFmpeg
A VPS running FFmpeg can be configured for unattended operation, but it requires command-line setup and ongoing server management. The cited third-party guide describes automatic process restart as an option; it does not establish a universal configuration, guarantee uptime, or supply a cost that applies to every host. Include hosting, bandwidth, maintenance, monitoring, and recovery in your decision.
Keep one broadcast live or create separate broadcasts
Decide whether the station should stay on a single continuing broadcast or whether separate programs need separate broadcast resources. YouTube’s API documentation describes maintaining a 24/7 feed while completing a separate interview broadcast. Set up the channel and broadcast
- Verify the channel and check access. In YouTube Studio, confirm the channel is verified and that live streaming is available without a restriction. If this is the channel’s first live stream, allow at least 24 hours after enabling access before the planned start, as advised by YouTube for Artists. - Create the broadcast in Live Control Room. Create or schedule the stream, choose the encoder option, and use the stream details provided by YouTube. Keep the stream key private: anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your broadcast. Confirm the current labels and settings in Live Control Room before launch.
- Build the audio/video program. Prepare the deep house audio source and pair it with a static cover card, restrained motion loop, or visualizer. Check that the image is appropriate for the stream and that the audio source will continue playing rather than ending after one track or file.
- Configure the encoder for your source and connection. The sources cited here do not establish universal bitrate, resolution, keyframe, or machine specifications for a reliable 24/7 deep house stream. Use the current encoder recommendations shown by YouTube and test the actual combination of source, output, and network instead of assuming one preset suits every setup.
- Plan logs and recovery. Know where to see encoder and stream status, who will receive alerts, and how to restart the source or encoder after a failure. If you use an automated restart, test it under the conditions you expect rather than treating it as proof of uninterrupted service.
Clear the music before you broadcast
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can trigger a warning, a placeholder image, interruption, or termination. Buying a track, crediting the artist, or having a general music-streaming subscription does not by itself establish permission to rebroadcast it.
For third-party music, get permission that covers the planned livestream, relevant territories, and monetization if applicable. YouTube says creators who license third-party content should ask the rights owner to add their channel to the Content ID allowlist. Without allowlisting, a stream may still be interrupted even when you hold a license; another option may be limiting the stream to territories where you have the necessary rights. If you choose to archive the broadcast, include the resulting on-demand video in your rights discussion. YouTube says Content ID claims are made after a live stream completes if the creator chooses to archive it. YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams
Test, launch, and monitor
- Run an unlisted test. YouTube for Artists recommends testing an unlisted stream before going live, especially for a high-production or high-investment event. Confirm that YouTube receives the encoder feed and that the audio is present and audible.
- Check the whole presentation. Verify the visual is stable, the title and artwork are correct, the source continues as intended, and any required music-rights allowlisting is active.
- Read stream health and encoder diagnostics. Use Live Control Room and encoder status information to look for detected configuration issues during the test. Correct problems and test again before making the broadcast public.
- Monitor after launch. Have a way to detect loss of source, encoder, network, or host. If using a VPS process restart or another recovery method, verify it in your own environment; automatic restart can recover a process but does not prove that viewers had uninterrupted playback.

YouTube for Artists reports that, on average, over 30% of daily logged-in YouTube viewers watched live content in Q2 2025. That is a broad platform statistic, not a forecast of audience size for a new deep house station. Eligible creators may be able to use shopping features, Supers, and live-stream ads, but eligibility depends on the channel and feature; the cited guidance does not establish that a new radio channel qualifies.
