To run a Telugu bhakti playlist as a continuous YouTube live stream, prepare media you have rights to use, create a stream in YouTube Studio, and send it from FFmpeg on a computer or server that stays online. FFmpeg can loop and transmit media, but keeping the stream available also requires process supervision and checking YouTube’s Live Control Room; a running FFmpeg process alone does not confirm viewers are receiving a healthy stream.
What you need before you start
- A playlist of devotional audio and, if desired, visuals. Use recordings and artwork cleared for the territories and uses you intend, including live transmission and archiving.
- An always-on host: a local computer or a remotely administered VPS. It needs reliable power and internet access for the full broadcast.
- FFmpeg installed on that host, plus enough familiarity to configure its input, output, and restart behavior.
- A YouTube channel with access to YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room.
- A secure place to store the YouTube stream key. Treat it like a password; do not expose it in a public script repository or logs.
Keep records of the permissions for both the sound recording and the underlying composition. A devotional song’s age or religious subject does not by itself establish that a particular recording or arrangement is free to stream.

Prepare the playlist and decide how to handle sessions
Organize media you are allowed to use
Prepare the audio and any accompanying visuals before going live. Check that your permissions cover the intended territories, continuous live transmission, and any archive or video-on-demand copy. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions place responsibility on the provider to have the necessary rights, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants.
Plan session boundaries if you need archives
YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That threshold is not a recommendation for stream length. If automatic archiving matters, do not assume that a single unbroken 24/7 session will produce an archive; plan sessions and transitions, and confirm the current Live Control Room behavior before relying on a particular archive workflow. See Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
#1 Best Overall
Create the YouTube ingest and protect its key
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or select the live stream you intend to use.
- Copy the server URL and stream key shown for that stream.
- For an encrypted connection, retrieve the RTMPS endpoint from Live Control Room. YouTube notes that a standard RTMP URL may be shown by default; its RTMPS guidance explains how to select the encrypted endpoint.
- Keep the URL and key private. Put them in a protected configuration or secret store rather than committing them to source control or printing them in logs.
YouTube’s encoder workflow is to enter the URL and key in the encoder, start sending, and verify the preview and status in Live Control Room. A correct-looking command is not proof that the platform is receiving the stream.
Send media with FFmpeg
FFmpeg’s documented generic RTMP pattern is ffmpeg -re -i myfile -f flv rtmp://myserver/live/mystream. The -re option reads the input in real time, and -f flv selects the FLV output muxer used in this basic RTMP example. The example is an illustration, not a complete YouTube command: it does not specify your playlist structure, codecs, stream key, or the exact endpoint YouTube provides. Consult the FFmpeg protocol documentation and use the URL and protocol selected for your stream.
Rank #2
Configure FFmpeg for the media and destination you actually have. Playlist construction, codecs, encoding options, and reconnect behavior depend on the installed FFmpeg build and the ingest endpoint; there is no single ready-to-run command established here for an unspecified Telugu playlist. Test the setup with your actual media and verify the Live Control Room preview before treating it as operational.
Keep the stream running and monitor it end to end
Choose a host that can stay online
| Approach | What it depends on | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| VPS or other cloud host | Remote configuration, administration, and a recurring service cost | Does not rely on a home computer’s power and internet connection. A community setup example uses an Ubuntu VPS and systemd, but it is not an independent comparison or a universal recipe: 24/7 YouTube Stream — Setup & Ops Notes. |
| Local always-on computer | Local power, cooling, network reliability, and maintenance | May use hardware you already own, but the stream depends on that computer and home connection remaining available. |
Neither approach is universally best. Compare total cost, upload reliability, encoding workload, restart and monitoring options, your administration skills, and how quickly you can recover a failed stream. The available evidence does not establish a minimum hardware specification or a best device.

Supervise FFmpeg and check YouTube’s view of the stream
Configure a process supervisor to restart FFmpeg if it exits unexpectedly, and monitor both the local process and the stream status in Live Control Room. A community-authored VPS example reports a freeze that was not apparent from local process health. That is an anecdote, not a general failure rate, but it illustrates why local process status alone is insufficient.
- Check that FFmpeg is still running and producing output.
- Check YouTube’s preview and live status rather than assuming a healthy process means a healthy broadcast.
- After a restart or interruption, verify that the platform preview returns and the intended playlist resumes.
Copyright, live interruptions, and monetization
Permission must cover the uses you plan
YouTube’s livestream terms require you to have the rights needed for live and archived content. Confirm clearance for the recording and composition, relevant territories, live use, and archive or VOD use. The applicable rights depend on the specific track and license; the fact that a song is a bhajan does not establish that a particular recording or composition is public domain.

A license may not prevent an interruption
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. It may replace a stream with a placeholder, warn the creator, interrupt or terminate the stream, and apply consequences for copyright or Community Guidelines strikes. YouTube also says that even licensed music may require the rights holder to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist to avoid interruption. A Content ID claim may be placed on an archived live stream after it ends. See Copyright issues with live streams.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesRights clearance does not guarantee monetization
YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams and separately assess whether a channel provides original, authentic material. The policy describes repetitive or mass-produced content as ineligible and treats reused-content review separately from copyright permission. Therefore, a licensed loop of devotional songs should not be assumed to qualify for monetization; add meaningful original value and check the current YouTube channel monetization policies.

Troubleshoot common failures
- YouTube shows no incoming stream: Check that the URL and key came from the selected Live Control Room stream, that the endpoint protocol matches your FFmpeg output, and that the host can reach the endpoint. Re-enter the key privately if needed.
- FFmpeg is running, but the preview is frozen or absent: Check YouTube’s Live Control Room rather than relying only on local process health. Restart or repair the encoder as appropriate, then confirm that the preview recovers.
- The stream stops when the computer goes off: The host is part of the broadcast path. Keep the local machine powered and connected, or use a remotely administered host that remains online.
- The stream is interrupted despite music permission: Review YouTube’s copyright notice and contact the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting. Permission and platform recognition are separate issues.
- You expected an archive from a continuous broadcast: YouTube’s stated automatic archive condition is for streams under 12 hours. Plan shorter sessions if archiving matters and confirm current Studio behavior.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. The cloud keeps the stream running without a computer or home connection staying on. It streams uploaded videos to YouTube, not a live camera feed.
