You can run the encoder on a computer with software such as OBS, use a cloud streaming service, or use compatible hardware. A local setup needs the computer and internet connection to stay on; a cloud setup does not rely on your home computer.
Before starting, verify your channel and enable live streaming. YouTube says first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours. Also plan separately for replays: YouTube documents automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours, not one complete automatic replay of a 24/7 broadcast.

What you need before going live
- A verified YouTube channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s current live-streaming basics also say live streamers must be at least 16. See YouTube’s live-streaming basics.
- Live streaming enabled. YouTube says first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours; enable it well before your planned launch. See YouTube’s encoder setup guide.
- A brown-noise recording and visual that you have the rights to use. Keep the source files and any license or permission records.
- An encoder and a stable internet connection. YouTube accepts software, cloud services, and hardware encoders.
Brown noise describes a type of sound; it does not make a particular recording copyright-free. Use your own recording or one you are authorized to stream, and avoid unlicensed music, samples, artwork, and other channels’ loops. YouTube’s encoder setup guide says YouTube Partner Program membership is required to monetize a live stream, but that is not a guarantee that a repetitive noise stream will pass monetization review.

For a local setup, first see whether a computer you already own is suitable. A dedicated mini PC is optional, not a requirement. You do not need a camera or microphone just to broadcast a prepared audio loop.

Prepare the audio and visual
Make a clean loop
Use a recording you created or have permission to stream. Listen across the loop point: there should be no click, abrupt change in loudness, or unintended silence. Set a steady level and confirm the audio repeats for the intended duration.
Choose a simple image or animation
A still image or gentle loop is enough to accompany audio and can keep encoding demands modest. Make any text legible on phone and TV screens. Use a visual you own or are authorized to use, and make the title and description accurately describe the sound. A static image is workflow guidance, not a YouTube requirement.

Set up a local OBS stream
- Verify access first. In YouTube, confirm the channel is verified and live streaming is enabled. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time enablement.
- Create the live stream. In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go Live, then create a stream or schedule one in Live Control Room.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. Copy the server URL and stream key shown in Live Control Room into OBS’s YouTube/RTMP stream settings. Choose RTMPS if your encoder supports it. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish or share it.
- Add your sources. Add the image or video as a visual source and the brown-noise file as an audio source. Configure the audio to loop. Check that the audio meter moves and listen to the feed, not just the source file.
- Set and check output. Select a resolution and bitrate your upload connection can sustain. Use the audio, video, and keyframe guidance below as a starting point.
- Start sending the stream. Start streaming in OBS and wait for YouTube’s preview and stream-health indicators in Live Control Room. If you scheduled the stream, confirm the preview and follow YouTube’s prompt to go live at the scheduled time.
- Monitor the broadcast. Check stream health at launch and after changing the encoder, network, or source. YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the real broadcast.
Encoder settings for a steady stream
YouTube’s encoder settings guidance supports RTMP/RTMPS delivery, H.264, H.265, or AV1 video, AAC or MP3 audio, and constant bitrate (CBR). It recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted delivery; Google’s RTMPS ingestion guide explains the protocol.

Test the full path with the same audio and visual behavior planned for the broadcast. Confirm the stream preview, sound level, loop point, and health indicators before leaving the stream unattended.

Keep a 24/7 broadcast distinct from its replay
YouTube Help states that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. The documented rule does not establish that a 24-hour broadcast will be saved as one complete automatic replay. If you need a replay, consider recording separately or planning shorter sessions, and check YouTube’s current limits before relying on any particular workaround.
Troubleshoot common problems
You cannot start a live stream
Check that the channel is verified, has no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and has live streaming enabled. If this is your first time enabling it, allow up to 24 hours.

YouTube does not receive the encoder feed
Check that the server URL and stream key match the values in Live Control Room, and that the key has not been exposed or changed. Confirm the encoder is connected and sending a supported stream over RTMP or RTMPS.
The preview has no sound or the loop has a click
Check that the correct audio source is active, the encoder’s audio meter moves, and the audio is routed to the stream. Listen through a full loop, including the transition point, and replace or edit the source if it contains a gap, click, or sudden level change.

The stream drops or becomes unstable
Review YouTube’s stream-health messages, confirm the connection can sustain the selected bitrate, and lower resolution or bitrate if needed. Test after network or encoder changes. A local software setup depends on the computer and connection staying online; a cloud service avoids that particular home-computer dependency, but its own loop support and recovery terms should be checked before purchase.
The full-day broadcast is missing as a replay
Do not assume a 24/7 session will produce one complete automatic archive: YouTube documents automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours. Use separate recording or shorter sessions if a complete replay is important, after checking current platform limits.
