To loop a prepared Tamil-song video on YouTube Live, use FFmpeg to publish it repeatedly to a MediaMTX RTSP path, then configure MediaMTX to forward that path to YouTube over RTMPS. You need a compatible audio-and-video file, an FFmpeg and MediaMTX installation, and the current ingest URL and stream key from YouTube Live Control Room. This setup does not grant music rights: broadcast only recordings cleared for your intended use, and check whether the rights holder must allowlist your channel.
Before you start: rights, files and setup
Confirm you can broadcast the Tamil songs
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A match can trigger a placeholder image, warning, interruption or termination. If you have licensed third-party music, the rights holder may still need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; a license alone does not guarantee uninterrupted streaming. Owning a song file, subscribing to a music service or giving credit does not by itself establish permission to rebroadcast it. Music rights can involve the composition and the sound recording, so confirm the permissions that apply to your planned broadcast.

Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsPrepare the media and software
- Use a local video file with both video and audio tracks. YouTube’s MediaMTX forwarding guidance warns that video-only streams are silently rejected.
- Install FFmpeg and MediaMTX using their official instructions, and check the documentation for the versions you have. The commands below follow the documented workflow; they have not been tested against your specific file, software versions or account.
- Make sure the machine running FFmpeg can read the file and reach MediaMTX, and that the MediaMTX host can reach YouTube’s ingest service.
- Retrieve the ingest URL and stream key from your YouTube Live Control Room when configuring the stream. Do not copy a URL or key from an old tutorial, or expose your key in logs, screenshots or shared configuration.
MediaMTX’s documented FFmpeg method recommends publishing as an RTSP client. See MediaMTX: Publish with FFmpeg.

- PLUG IN AND HEAR SOUND IN SECONDS - USB Type-A connector with a 3.5mm stereo headphone output and a separate 3.5mm mono microphone input. No drivers, no software, no external power - the adapter is USB bus-powered and is recognized as a standard USB audio device.
- WORKS ON WINDOWS, MAC AND LINUX - Driverless on Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/7/8, Linux and Mac OSX, and compliant with the USB Audio Device Class 1.0 specification, so any system that supports class-compliant USB audio will see it. Select it as the sound output and input device after plugging it in.
- TWO JACKS, TWO JOBS - The green jack is stereo OUT for headphones or powered speakers; the pink jack is mono microphone IN for a 3.5mm mic. It does NOT support 4-pole headsets on a single combo plug, it does NOT power passive speakers, and it does NOT add surround sound - it is a stereo 2-channel adapter.
- FOR LAPTOPS AND DESKTOPS THAT NEED AN AUDIO PORT BACK - Adds a headphone and mic port to a laptop, desktop, or mini PC whose onboard jack has failed or was never there. Managed and work-issued computers can block new USB audio devices by policy - check with your IT department before ordering for a company machine.

-rereads the file at real-time speed rather than sending it as fast as possible.-stream_loop -1repeats the input indefinitely.-i file.mp4selects your input file.-c copycopies the existing audio and video streams without transcoding.-f rtsppublishes using RTSP to the MediaMTX pathmystreamon the local host.
For a file in another directory, provide its full path after -i. For a MediaMTX server on a different machine, replace localhost with that server’s reachable hostname or IP address and configure its network access accordingly.
Stream copy avoids a re-encode, but it does not make an incompatible file compatible. If the source codecs, timestamps or container do not work with the next stage, choose and validate an appropriate encode or remux workflow rather than assuming -c copy will fix it. Keep FFmpeg running while it publishes; stopping the process ends its contribution to the MediaMTX path.

Configure MediaMTX to forward the path to YouTube Live
MediaMTX’s YouTube example forwards a path to an RTMPS destination in the form rtmps://INGEST_HOST/INGEST_PATH#STREAM_KEY. Add a forward entry for the path you publish, using the exact destination values shown in your current Live Control Room. The fragment mark separates the ingest URL from the key in the documented configuration pattern. Treat the following as a shape, not a destination to copy:
paths:
mystream:
rtmpForward:
- rtmps://INGEST_HOST/INGEST_PATH#STREAM_KEY

Configuration labels can vary across MediaMTX versions. Follow the forward configuration documented for the version you installed, and substitute its supported entry format rather than pasting an example key into a shared file. Protect any configuration containing your real key, and avoid printing it to terminal logs or sharing it in screenshots.

MediaMTX says, “YouTube requires streams to have both a video and an audio track.” Confirm the file contains both and that the published path carries both. Consult MediaMTX: Forward streams for the forwarding configuration. Its example host reflects the information available when that documentation was updated; use the current ingest URL supplied for your account.

Match the stream to YouTube’s ingest requirements
The RTMPS route is the straightforward option in MediaMTX’s YouTube forwarding example, and YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted transport. The video and audio being forwarded must meet YouTube’s current requirements; stream copy does not convert them.
- Video: YouTube’s RTMP/RTMPS guidance specifies H.264 and constant-bitrate encoding. Its recommendations include 5 Mbps for 1080p30 and 8 Mbps for 720p30. These are YouTube recommendations, not guarantees of quality or stability for every connection.
- Keyframes: YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds.
- Audio: YouTube lists AAC or MP3 audio, and the stream must contain an audio track as well as video.
- Upload capacity: Select a bitrate that fits the measured upload capacity available to the sending setup. YouTube advises, “We recommend running a speed test to test your upload bitrate.” Test before broadcast and monitor stream health while live.
If your file does not already match the required encoding and settings, the loop command above will not change them. You need an encode or remux that produces compatible output. Consult YouTube’s current encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions before choosing settings.
Start the stream and verify it
- Start MediaMTX with the configuration for the
mystreampath and YouTube forward destination. - Run the FFmpeg loop command and check that it connects to the intended MediaMTX path.
- Open the current broadcast in YouTube Live Control Room. Confirm that YouTube receives both audio and video and reports a healthy incoming stream before you proceed with a public broadcast.
- Monitor the stream health and the sending connection during the broadcast. A successful connection at startup does not prove that the stream will remain stable.
RTMPS or HLS: choose the ingestion mode deliberately
HLS is a separate YouTube ingestion mode, not a drop-in replacement for the RTMPS destination. Match the encoder output and sending method to the selected protocol.

| Documented route for this workflow | MediaMTX provides a YouTube forwarding example using RTMPS. | The cited guidance does not establish a complete MediaMTX-to-YouTube HLS recipe for this workflow. |
| Use case and support | Use the RTMP-compatible encoding YouTube requires, including H.264 video and AAC or MP3 audio. | YouTube identifies HLS for cases such as HDR or codecs outside RTMP support; confirm your encoder and account support the intended format. |
| Transport and latency | YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted transport. | HLS disables the ultra-low-latency option and uses segmented delivery, so it is not interchangeable with the RTMPS setup. |
| Protocol-specific requirements | Follow the current RTMP/RTMPS ingest settings and use the URL and key from Live Control Room. | YouTube’s guidance requires an HTTPS URL, TS segments of 1–4 seconds, rolling playlists with no more than five outstanding segments, and HTTPS POST/PUT requests. |
Read YouTube’s HLS ingestion guidance before building an HLS sender. Its protocol requirements do not supply a ready-made MediaMTX configuration for this particular chain.
Troubleshoot common failures
YouTube sees video but no audio, or rejects the stream
- Likely cause: The input or published path is missing an audio track, or the selected audio format is unsuitable.
- Fix: Check the file’s tracks and confirm the stream carries audio. YouTube lists AAC or MP3 for RTMP/RTMPS and requires both audio and video.
FFmpeg cannot connect to MediaMTX
- Likely cause: MediaMTX is not running, the RTSP address or path does not match, or the host/port is unreachable.
- Fix: Confirm MediaMTX is listening, the published path matches the configured path, and network access permits the connection. If MediaMTX is remote, replace
localhostwith its reachable address.
MediaMTX does not reach YouTube
- Likely cause: The ingest URL or stream key is stale, copied incorrectly, or entered in a format unsupported by your MediaMTX version.
- Fix: Fetch the current values from Live Control Room, check the documented forwarding syntax for your installed version, and protect the key while editing or diagnosing configuration.
The stream starts but YouTube reports poor health or interruptions
- Likely cause: Bitrate exceeds stable upload capacity, the connection fluctuates, or the media encoding does not meet ingest guidance.
- Fix: Measure upload capacity, choose a suitable bitrate, verify the H.264/CBR and keyframe settings where encoding is involved, test before broadcast and monitor YouTube’s stream health.
The live stream is interrupted despite a working technical setup
- Likely cause: A Content ID match or other copyright enforcement action.
- Fix: Use only content cleared for this live use and ask the rights holder whether your channel needs allowlisting. A technical setup cannot prevent a rights-based interruption.
