To keep a product installation walkthrough repeating on YouTube Live, send YouTube a live feed from an encoder that loops the video. YouTube’s player Loop control only repeats playback for an individual viewer; it does not turn an uploaded video into a live broadcast. For a single local video, OBS Studio’s Media Source can loop the file while OBS sends its feed to YouTube.

For one installation video, OBS Studio is a practical software starting point. YouTube also describes hardware encoders for higher-production streams, but dedicated hardware is not required for the workflow below.

Check YouTube Live eligibility first
YouTube’s current help page says a channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and the creator must be at least 16. Confirm eligibility before building the support workflow in YouTube’s live-streaming access requirements; account rules can change.

Set up a looping installation stream with OBS
The steps below combine OBS’s documented media-loop control with YouTube’s encoder setup. The combined sequence is a practical workflow derived from those separate instructions, not a single YouTube-endorsed recipe specifically for support loops.

- Create the event in YouTube Studio. Open YouTube Studio, go to Live Control Room, create or schedule a live stream, and choose an encoder-based stream. Follow the on-screen setup to obtain the stream URL and stream key. YouTube’s encoder streaming instructions explain how these connect an encoder to the event.
- Protect the stream key. Treat it like a password: it authorizes an encoder to send a feed to your stream. Do not publish it in a description, support article, screenshot, or public chat. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update OBS.
- Add the video in OBS. Open OBS Studio, add a Media Source in the Sources panel, select the local installation video, and enable Loop in that source’s properties. OBS defines this property as whether the file plays again after playback completes. Keep the source file available at the same path while the stream runs.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select YouTube as the service if available, and enter the stream key or configure the server and key using the values YouTube provides. Labels can vary by OBS version and connection method; use the current values shown in YouTube Live Control Room rather than guessing a server address.
- Preview before going live. Start streaming from OBS, then check the preview in Live Control Room before starting or confirming the event as live. Verify that the picture is framed correctly, the whole installation procedure is legible, and the audio is audible and synchronized.
- Check customer access. Open the event’s watch page from the channel and test it on a phone as well as a desktop browser. Make sure customers can find the live destination and that any instructions, captions, or support links they need are available.
Loop a sequence of videos instead
If the support session needs several clips in order, OBS’s VLC Video source offers a Loop Playlist setting. This option requires VLC installed. Add the files in the intended order, enable playlist looping, and preview transitions so customers do not encounter an unintended blank or pause between steps.
Keep the stream stable and useful for support
- Test the whole setup. YouTube recommends testing the encoder setup and continuously monitoring audio and video quality. Check the stream after it starts and after any source, network, or computer change.
- Leave upload headroom. YouTube’s streaming tips recommend upload bandwidth at least 20% above the total stream bitrate. This is reserve capacity, not a replacement for a stable connection; other devices sharing the connection can still affect delivery.
- Plan for all-day viewing realistically. YouTube DVR allows viewers to pause and resume, but DVR may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. Do not promise unlimited rewind on a continuous support stream. If customers need to revisit a particular step, provide timestamps or a separate normal upload where appropriate.
- Make the loop intentional. End the video cleanly, avoid instructions that become confusing when they restart, and make clear that the stream is repeating. For procedural content, a brief opening slate can tell viewers where the walkthrough begins and how to contact support.
- Check rights and account policies. Use video, music, voiceover, and graphics you own or are licensed to use. A support purpose does not automatically grant rights to third-party material; review YouTube’s applicable copyright and live-stream rules before broadcasting.
Troubleshoot common loop problems
