To loop one video in OBS, add it as a Media Source and enable Loop. To loop several different videos in sequence, use a VLC Video source instead: add the files to its playlist, enable Loop Playlist, and turn off Shuffle Playlist to keep the order you chose.
Choose the right OBS source

OBS’s regular Media Source handles a single file. For a playlist of different files, the documented built-in option is VLC Video. OBS’s Media Sources documentation describes the distinction between the two.

Loop a single video with Media Source
- In your OBS scene, click the + control in the Sources dock.
- Choose Media Source, create or select a source, and select the local video file in its properties.
- Enable Loop, then confirm the source properties. The file will replay after playback completes.
Loop a playlist of different videos with VLC Video
Install VLC if needed
Install VLC Media Player before adding the source if it is not already installed. OBS’s VLC Video source requires VLC on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Match the architecture: 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.

Add the files and set playback behavior
- In the OBS scene, click + in the Sources dock and choose VLC Video.
- Open the source properties and add the video files to its playlist in the order you want them to play.
- Leave Loop Playlist enabled so playback begins again at the first item after the last item finishes.
- Set Shuffle Playlist off to preserve the listed order, or on to randomize playback.
- Choose the source’s Visibility Behaviour to determine what happens when the source is hidden: stop and restart when visible, pause and resume, or continue playing while hidden.

Make the playlist behave as intended
- Items play in the wrong order: turn off Shuffle Playlist and arrange the files in the desired order in the source playlist.
- The playlist stops after the last file: check that Loop Playlist is enabled. The separate Media Source Loop property repeats a single file; it is not the multi-file playlist setting.
- The video pauses or restarts when you switch scenes: review Visibility Behaviour. Choose pause/resume or continue playing while hidden if you do not want playback to stop when the source is hidden.
- VLC Video is missing from the source menu: install VLC and ensure its architecture matches OBS. For 64-bit OBS, use 64-bit VLC.
Optional third-party playlist plugin
A third-party OBS forum listing describes a Media Playlist Source plugin as another playlist option and lists OBS Studio 30.0.0 as its minimum version. The built-in VLC Video route is documented by OBS; plugin compatibility and maintenance are not established here. Check the plugin listing and current compatibility before installing it.
