Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesTo loop a church service as an actual YouTube Live broadcast, use an encoder such as OBS: add the video as a Media Source, turn on Loop, and send the encoder output to YouTube using your stream URL and stream key. YouTube’s own Loop control only repeats playback for a viewer; it does not turn a video into a live broadcast.
Choose the kind of loop you need
There are two different things people mean by “loop on YouTube.” If you want a viewer to replay an uploaded service video, use YouTube’s watch-page Loop control. If you want the channel to broadcast a video continuously as a live stream, loop the media in an encoder such as OBS, which sends the continuing output to YouTube.
| What you want | Where the loop happens | What viewers see |
|---|---|---|
| Replay an uploaded video or playlist | YouTube’s player | A regular video or playlist repeating during playback |
| Broadcast a video as YouTube Live | An encoder such as OBS | A live broadcast receiving the encoder’s output |
For viewer playback, YouTube documents the desktop path as right-clicking the player and selecting Loop; on Android, use Settings → Additional settings → Loop video. Playlist loop controls repeat a playlist during playback. These controls do not broadcast a local video as a live stream. See YouTube’s instructions for looping videos or playlists.
Before you start a church-service live stream
- Check channel eligibility. YouTube requires a verified channel and no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days for livestreaming with an encoder. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance.
- Prepare the media. Use a local recording you have the right to broadcast. Check that the video and audio are complete and that the file plays as expected.
- Plan for a long broadcast. YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, and DVR may be limited or unavailable beyond 12 hours. Keep a local recording if you need an archive. Details: archive live streams and DVR on live streams.
- Check rights to every element. Make sure your church has permission for the sermon recording, music, lyrics, video, and other material in the broadcast. A live format does not itself grant rights to use copyrighted material.
Loop one service video in OBS
- Create a scene. In OBS, create or select the scene you want to send to YouTube.
- Add the file. In the Sources panel, select + → Media Source. Give the source a recognizable name, choose the local video file, and confirm.
- Enable looping. Open the Media Source properties and check Loop. OBS documents this option as off by default; enabling it makes the source start again when playback reaches the end. OBS lists supported formats including .mp4, .ts, .mov, .flv, .mkv, .avi, .gif, and .webm. See OBS Media Sources documentation.
- Check what happens at the end. OBS also has a separate Show nothing when playback ends property. Loop is the setting that repeats the video. If you leave Loop off, review the end-of-playback property so the scene behaves as intended when the file finishes.
- Confirm the picture and sound. Play the source in OBS and check the scene preview, audio meters, and actual audio output. Make sure the service is framed correctly and that audio is audible without clipping or unexpected silence.
Loop a sequence of service videos
For several files that should play in a particular order, use OBS’s VLC Video Source rather than adding separate media sources and trying to coordinate them manually.

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Install VLC on the computer running OBS; OBS requires VLC for this source to be available.
- In OBS, add a source with + → VLC Video Source.
- In the source properties, add the service-video files to the playlist in the order you want them played.
- Enable Loop Playlist if it is not already enabled. OBS documents that setting as on by default in the VLC source properties.
- Preview the transitions and listen to the start and end of each file before going live.
OBS documents VLC Video Source support on Windows, macOS, and Linux. The playlist source and its loop control are described in the OBS Media Sources documentation.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create or configure an encoder stream and select the stream settings YouTube provides.
- Copy YouTube’s stream URL and stream key into OBS’s streaming settings. YouTube describes the key as the password and address information that tells an encoder where to send the feed. Treat it like a password: do not show it in screenshots, livestreams, or public instructions. See YouTube’s live-stream settings guidance.
- Start streaming from OBS, then check the Live Control Room preview. Confirm that the correct video and audio are arriving before making the stream public or sharing its link.
- Run a test in advance. Check that the event is accessible from the channel or watch page and on a phone, and monitor both audio and video quality. YouTube recommends preparing encoder streams early and testing the setup; see YouTube live-streaming tips.
Keep a long broadcast reliable
Looping controls media playback, not the health of the live connection. If the network drops, the encoder may stop reaching YouTube even while the local video continues to play. YouTube recommends sufficient upload bandwidth with headroom and monitoring the stream’s audio and video; see streaming tips.

- Use a stable internet connection and avoid saturating its upload capacity with other activity.
- Watch the Live Control Room preview and status instead of assuming the loop is still reaching viewers.
- Keep a local copy of the service recording if you need an archive. YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured, and DVR functionality may be limited or unavailable beyond that duration.
- Do not treat a looping live stream as a replacement for checking the broadcast. A repeated source can keep playing locally while a network or encoder problem interrupts delivery.
Common problems and fixes
| Problem | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| The video plays once and then stops | Loop is not enabled on the Media Source | Open the source properties and turn on Loop; check the separate end-of-playback behavior if Loop is off. |
| VLC Video Source is missing | VLC is not installed on the OBS computer | Install VLC, then reopen OBS and look for the source again. |
| The playlist ends instead of starting over | Loop Playlist is disabled | Open the VLC Video Source properties and enable Loop Playlist. |
| YouTube does not receive the stream | The channel is not eligible, or the encoder’s URL or key is incorrect | Confirm channel verification and restriction status, then compare the OBS stream settings with the current values in YouTube Studio. Keep the key private. |
| The preview is black or silent | The wrong scene or file is selected, or the source’s audio is not reaching OBS | Check the selected scene, file playback, audio meters, and Live Control Room preview before sharing the stream. |
| The live stream drops although the video keeps looping | A network interruption or insufficient upload headroom | Check the connection and OBS/YouTube stream status; reduce competing upload use and test again. |
| The stream is live but no archive appears | The broadcast exceeded YouTube’s 12-hour capture threshold | Keep a local recording for future archive needs; YouTube says a stream over 12 hours may not be captured. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is to keep a prerecorded church service playing as a YouTube Live stream without leaving a computer running at home, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It is for uploaded videos, not a camera feed, and streams to YouTube.
