To repeat a clip in XSplit Broadcaster, add it as a Video File source, open its properties, and use the playback controls. XSplit has documented loop options for video sources, but the available current support text does not verify the exact checkbox name or guarantee a seamless picture or sound at the join. A playback loop repeats the file; a seamless loop also requires the clip’s ending and beginning to match.
Loop one video file in XSplit Broadcaster
- Add the clip: In the scene, choose Add Source > Video File and select your local video. XSplit describes this source as a way to add video files in different formats; its guide gives MP4 and WebM as examples, not a guarantee that every codec or file variant will work. XSplit’s Image, Video, and Audio Source guide covers the source setup.
- Open its properties: Right-click the video source and open its properties. The relevant section is called Playback; XSplit says those controls manage file playback settings. The support guide does not enumerate a complete current list of control labels.
- Enable repeat playback: Look in the Playback controls for the repeat or loop option available in your installed version, enable it, and test the source. XSplit’s Broadcaster 3.0 history says loop options were added for individual video sources and Video Playlist items in June 2017. Because that is a historical feature note, do not rely on old screenshots or assume the checkbox’s present-day wording or location. XSplit’s feature history documents the addition.
- Check the join: Preview the moment the clip ends and starts again, including the audio. Repeat playback confirms that the source restarts; it does not make mismatched frames, motion, color, or sound line up.
Choose the source that matches what you want to repeat
| What you want to loop | XSplit source | What XSplit describes | What is not established |
|---|---|---|---|
| One local clip | Video File | Local video setup and playback controls; historical feature notes describe loop options. | Exact current loop-control label or seamless picture and audio at the join. |
| A set of clips | Video Playlist | Continuous playback and other playback options. | Gap-free transitions or identical behavior across current versions. |
| A visual element made from several images or videos | Media Slideshow | XSplit describes it as able to loop multiple images or videos. | Seamless transitions or suitability for every playlist-style workflow. |
XSplit describes Video Playlist and Media Slideshow in its Sources Menu introduction. Choose Video Playlist for a collection intended to play continuously; choose Media Slideshow when the desired element is a looping mix of images or videos. Neither description promises that transitions will be gap-free.

Make the loop look and sound seamless
The clean join has to be prepared in the media itself. XSplit’s playback controls repeat a file, but the reviewed documentation does not identify a special “seamless” switch or certify visual or audio continuity at the wrap point.
- Match the picture: Choose an ending frame that can cut naturally to the opening frame. For a static scene, the composition and lighting should be consistent; for motion, the subject’s position and direction should make sense across the cut.
- Listen at the boundary: Check for a click, abrupt silence, clipped syllable, or sudden change in ambience. Adjust the edit or audio fade in your video editor if needed, then export and test the revised file in XSplit.
- Preview more than once: Watch and listen through several repeats. A transition that seems acceptable on one pass can become obvious when the viewer anticipates it.
- Keep the test representative: Check the actual scene and playback conditions you plan to use. A smooth file boundary cannot correct a source that fails to load or display properly.
If the video source shows black
A black source is a playback or display problem, not evidence that the loop setting is wrong. XSplit’s troubleshooting article suggests these changes for sources that display black:
