To loop a prerecorded product launch presentation on YouTube Live, create or schedule a YouTube stream, send it an encoder feed, and turn on repeat playback for the presentation inside the encoder. YouTube receives the feed; the encoder controls the loop. Test the full playback—including the return to the beginning—before sharing the event, and keep the computer and encoder running for the duration.
What you need for a looping launch presentation
- A finished video file of the presentation and an encoder that can play that file repeatedly.
- A YouTube Live event created in YouTube Studio.
- The YouTube stream URL and stream key, entered in the encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not show it in screenshots, recordings, or public documents.
- A stable internet connection with enough upload capacity for the stream quality you choose.
A microphone is optional. Use one only if someone will speak live over or between the prerecorded sections. The presentation itself can loop without live narration.

Prepare the presentation for a loop
Export and inspect the video
Export the finished presentation in a format supported by your encoder. Check the first and last few seconds: the transition from the ending back to the opening should not create an abrupt black frame, an unintended pause, or an awkward cut. If the presentation is long, test the entire file rather than assuming it will play correctly from start to finish.

Viewers may join at any point in the loop. Keep essential product details, the offer, and the store URL visible or repeat them within the presentation. Make time-limited terms and availability clear, and ensure any call to action remains accurate throughout the event.

Confirm you can use every asset
Check that your store has permission to use the music, images, video clips, product imagery, and other material in the presentation in a live broadcast and any resulting replay. A loop does not change the need to check the rights for the material you stream.
Create or schedule the YouTube Live event
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live.
- Create a stream or open the Manage tab to schedule one. Scheduling gives you an event page to share and lets viewers receive reminders.
- Set the event title, description, thumbnail, and visibility. YouTube says live-stream privacy defaults can differ by age; choose the intended setting—public, private, or unlisted—before the event.
- Open the stream’s encoder information and keep the stream URL and stream key available for the encoder setup. Do not publish the key.
YouTube’s encoder workflow and scheduled-stream steps are documented in its guide to creating a live stream with an encoder.

Connect the encoder and enable repeat playback
- Open the encoder you will use and create a new stream or output profile for the YouTube event.
- If the encoder offers YouTube as a destination, select it and follow its connection flow. Otherwise, copy YouTube’s server URL into the encoder’s server field and paste the stream key into its key field.
- Use RTMPS if the encoder and connection setup support it. YouTube lists RTMP/RTMPS as supported encoder protocols and recommends RTMPS in its encoder settings guidance.
- Add the presentation file as a media input or playlist item in the encoder.
- Enable the encoder’s repeat, loop, or equivalent playback option. For a playlist, confirm the order and that the playlist itself repeats after its final item.
- Save the profile and check that the encoder is sending the intended video and audio inputs to the correct YouTube event.
The loop control is encoder-specific. YouTube’s connection instructions explain how to send an encoder feed, but do not establish a universal repeat setting or current interface labels for every encoder. Check the documentation for the encoder you choose rather than assuming YouTube Studio will repeat a video file on its own.
Choose stream settings and test the feed
Match settings to your connection
YouTube’s encoder-settings guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video options; frame rates up to 60 fps; AAC or MP3 audio; and constant-bitrate encoding. It recommends a two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds. These are platform recommendations, and an encoder may not expose every option.

The YouTube Help page consulted for H.264 recommendations lists these bitrate figures:
| Output | H.264 recommended bitrate |
|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 4 Mbps |
| 720p at 60 fps | 6 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 10 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 12 Mbps |
These are recommendations shown on the consulted YouTube Help page, not guaranteed minimums or universal requirements. Check YouTube’s current encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions before relying on them, and choose a quality your upload connection can sustain. YouTube’s settings page advises testing upload bitrate and matching stream quality to the available connection.

Test the whole cycle
- Start the encoder and wait for the event preview in YouTube Live Control Room.
- Check that the picture is moving and the audio is clear at a normal listening level. Test with material similar to the actual presentation.
- Let the video reach its end and verify that it returns to the beginning without stopping or leaving an unintended gap.
- Check that titles, offer details, and the store URL are legible on the stream preview.
- For a scheduled event, select Go Live in Live Control Room after the preview is ready unless your chosen setup has auto-start enabled.
- Keep Live Control Room open during the event so you can watch stream health and respond if the feed drops or degrades.
YouTube specifically advises testing audio and video movement similar to the planned event before starting a live stream. Its encoder settings guidance also recommends choosing quality based on the connection and testing upload capacity. OBS community guidance notes that scheduled streams may require a separate Go Live action unless auto-start is enabled; the exact behavior depends on your configuration.

Keep it running, then end and archive it
With a computer-based software encoder, the computer, encoder, and network connection must remain available while the stream runs. Prevent sleep or automatic shutdown, avoid restarting the machine during the event, and monitor the outgoing feed. A dedicated hardware encoder with scheduled prerecorded playout is another option for unattended operation; YouTube names the AJA HELO Plus and describes its PlayToStream function as allowing prerecorded media to be scheduled and streamed to YouTube Live without a computer. Check current device capabilities, scheduling controls, remote monitoring, cost, and backup arrangements before choosing hardware.

When the event is over, end it in Live Control Room and stop the encoder feed. YouTube states that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If your planned loop may exceed 12 hours and a complete replay matters, verify current YouTube behavior and arrange a separate recording or archive plan.
Troubleshoot common loop and stream problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube shows no preview | The encoder is not connected to the event, or the server URL or stream key is wrong. | Confirm the selected event, server URL, and stream key. Keep the key private while correcting it, then restart the encoder feed and wait for the preview. |
| The video plays once and stops | Repeat playback is off, or the encoder is repeating an item different from the presentation. | Check the encoder’s media or playlist repeat setting and test through the end of the file before going live. |
| The stream is live, but the scheduled event has not started | The event may require a separate start action after the encoder preview appears. | Check Live Control Room and select Go Live when ready, unless auto-start is enabled for your setup. |
| Video stutters or stream health degrades | The selected output may exceed what the upload connection can sustain, or the connection may be unstable. | Test upload capacity, lower output quality or bitrate, and test again before the event. Monitor stream health while live. |
| Audio is missing or unexpectedly loud | The encoder may be using the wrong audio source, or the presentation mix may need adjustment. | Check the selected audio input and test the presentation at normal listening volume in the preview. |
| The loop restart looks abrupt | The final frame and opening frame do not transition cleanly. | Revise the video’s opening or ending, export it again, and test the complete cycle. |
Which setup fits your launch?
| Setup | Best fit | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Computer with software encoder | A single launch event or a low-cost setup with an operator present. | The computer, encoder, and connection must keep running; someone should monitor the event. |
| Dedicated hardware encoder with prerecorded playout | More operationally demanding or unattended scheduled playback. | Requires dedicated equipment and setup. Compare supported media, scheduling, remote monitoring, cost, and backup options. |
| Prerecorded loop plus live presenter | A launch where live commentary or questions add value. | Adds production work: a microphone and someone to monitor chat may be useful. The prerecorded file itself does not require a microphone. |
