Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTo loop a pre-recorded video through Switchboard Live, set the repeat option on an OBS Media Source, send OBS’s RTMP feed to your Switchboard workflow, then start the YouTube destination after confirming the feed is arriving. Switchboard relays the encoder’s live feed; it does not store or loop your video file.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. Switchboard’s activation guidance says phone verification may be required and activation can take up to 24 hours; check the current YouTube Studio controls because they can change.
- A video file accessible to the computer running OBS.
- OBS Studio and a Switchboard workflow configured with a YouTube destination.
- The workflow’s RTMP stream URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send video to your stream.
Switchboard’s Help Center FAQ says prerecorded playback requires an encoder capable of playing the file and sending an RTMP feed; it gives OBS, Ecamm, and Switcher Studio as examples, and says Switchboard does not host prerecorded videos. The steps below use OBS.
Set up the Switchboard workflow and YouTube destination
- In Switchboard, connect your YouTube account and add or select the YouTube destination for the relevant Stream Group. Follow the current connection prompts and authorize the channel.
- Open the workflow’s ingest details and copy its Stream URL and Stream Key. Keep these private.
- Decide the YouTube visibility before you go live: public for an open audience, unlisted to share by link, or private for restricted viewing under YouTube’s current eligibility rules. Switchboard documents these visibility choices; unlisted is not private access control because anyone with the link can view it.
Configure OBS to repeat the video and send it to Switchboard
- In OBS, open Settings → Stream. Set Service to Custom, then enter the Switchboard workflow’s Stream URL and Stream Key. Save the settings.
- In the scene you plan to broadcast, select Sources → + → Media Source. Give the source a recognizable name, select the prerecorded video file, and enable the media source’s repeat/loop option so it starts again after reaching the end. Choose any other playback options deliberately—for example, whether the source should restart when it becomes active.
- Arrange the source in the preview and check that it fits the intended output canvas. If the picture is black or cropped, verify the selected file and source visibility before streaming.
- Click Start Streaming in OBS. Switchboard should receive the incoming feed. Confirm that the video appears on its confidence monitor and that the receiving indicator is green before starting the destination.
- In Switchboard, start the YouTube destination. Check YouTube playback and the selected visibility, then share the viewing link only when you are satisfied with the picture and sound.
You do not need a camera or capture card to loop a video stored on the OBS computer. An external HDMI camera is a different setup: add an OBS Video Capture Device source, and use capture hardware only if the computer and source require it.
If you are using a scheduled YouTube event
A scheduled event can involve event-specific stream credentials and YouTube Live Control Room in addition to the ordinary workflow. Switchboard’s scheduled-event guide describes creating the YouTube event, adding its stream URL and key to Switchboard as a custom RTMP destination, and coordinating the encoder with Live Control Room. Its article was last updated about a year before October 3, 2026, so confirm the current Switchboard and YouTube event flow rather than relying on any older feature limitation.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Create or select the scheduled event in YouTube Studio and note the event’s stream URL and key.
- Configure the event destination in Switchboard with the event-specific RTMP details, following the current interface.
- Start OBS and verify the incoming feed in Switchboard and the event’s Live Control Room. Complete the event’s current go-live steps; receiving video and making the scheduled event live may be separate actions.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| No feed in Switchboard | OBS is not streaming, or the custom URL/key does not match the workflow. | Confirm OBS says it is streaming; recheck the exact Stream URL and Key in Settings → Stream, then restart the OBS connection. |
| Feed arrives, but YouTube is not live | The YouTube destination has not been started, the channel is not yet enabled for live streaming, or a scheduled event still needs its own live-control action. | Start the destination in Switchboard, check the current YouTube Studio status, and for an event confirm the Live Control Room shows the incoming feed and required go-live controls. |
| Video plays once and stops | The Media Source repeat option is off or the wrong source is active. | Open the Media Source properties, enable repeat/loop, and verify that the scene contains the intended file source. |
| Black picture or wrong video | The source file may be unavailable, hidden, or not the one selected. | Reopen the Media Source properties, select the correct local file, and ensure the source is visible in the active scene. |
| YouTube activation is pending | Live streaming may not yet be enabled for the channel. | Complete any current YouTube verification prompts and allow for the activation period. Switchboard’s guidance says activation can take up to 24 hours; this is guidance, not a guaranteed processing time. |
Copyright and stream readiness
Having a file available does not establish that you have the right to broadcast its music, video, or other included material. Check permissions for the entire recording before going live, including background music and third-party clips. YouTube may apply its current copyright and monetization policies to a live broadcast; a repeat setting does not grant rights or guarantee monetization. Test with an appropriate visibility setting before promoting the stream, and consult YouTube’s current channel controls and policies if a claim or restriction appears.

If the aim is an always-on YouTube channel playing uploaded recordings, StreamNeo is a different approach from the OBS-and-Switchboard relay workflow: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot regardless of quality, and can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card required; one free day is available per account. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube and uploaded videos, not camera broadcasts.
