Short answer: an Android TV box might be able to play podcast files, but the available YouTube guidance does not verify an end-to-end method for turning an arbitrary box into a looping archive player and sending that feed to YouTube Live. You need two working parts—a source that can continuously play and repeat your files, and a YouTube-compatible encoder that can transmit its audio and video. Confirm both for your exact box and apps before relying on it for a 24/7 stream.
What an Android TV box must do
Looping a podcast archive on YouTube Live is not just a matter of opening the YouTube app on a TV box. The box or another device must produce a continuous audio/video feed, and an encoder must send that feed to YouTube using the stream URL and stream key.

- Playout: the chosen app or source must select your podcast files, play them in sequence, and repeat the playlist without stopping. Confirm supported file locations and formats, whether playback continues when the screen is off, and what happens at the end of a file or after a restart.
- Encoding and publishing: a compatible encoder must take that output and send it to YouTube Live. YouTube’s encoder instructions call for entering the YouTube Live server URL and stream key in the encoder, then checking the preview in Live Control Room before going live: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
YouTube’s Android Mobile Live documentation describes a camera-broadcast flow, not local podcast-file playout. It lists a camera, microphone, hardware audio/video encoders, Android Marshmallow (API 23) or later, and YouTube app version 13.02 or later for that mobile flow; those requirements do not establish that an Android TV box can loop files or publish them as a live feed: Initiating YouTube Live Streams on Android Devices.

- Write down the exact hardware and software. Note the box make and model, Android version, file location (internal storage, USB drive, or network source), and the app you intend to use for playback. Compatibility cannot be confirmed without those details.
- Verify playlist behavior on the box. Test that the app can select all required files, play them in the intended order, repeat the complete playlist, and recover after a file ends or playback is interrupted. Do not assume that a box’s ability to play a video file means it can provide continuous playout.
- Verify a separate encoder path. Establish how the box’s playback becomes a continuous feed that an encoder can transmit to YouTube. Confirm this with the encoder and box documentation or a test stream. The cited YouTube setup guide explains how to connect an encoder; it does not specify an Android TV archive-loop app.
- Test the whole chain privately or with a controlled test. Check picture, sound, playlist transitions, and whether the encoder continues transmitting. YouTube recommends checking the preview in Live Control Room before starting the stream.
Prepare YouTube Live and connect the encoder
Confirm channel access
YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Check access before troubleshooting the box or encoder; YouTube lists these checks in its live-streaming tips.

Create the stream and protect its key
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and set its title, privacy, and other stream details.
- Copy the server URL and stream key shown for the stream into the encoder’s corresponding fields. YouTube’s instructions are to enter the Live server URL and stream key in the encoder.
- Treat the stream key like a password. Do not publish it, share it in screenshots, or leave it accessible to people who should not be able to broadcast to your channel.
- Start the encoder and inspect the Live Control Room preview. Confirm that the archive is playing with audible sound and that transitions do not leave a prolonged blank or silent feed. Start the YouTube live stream only after the preview is correct.
Exact encoder controls vary by product, and the cited YouTube guidance does not give Android TV-specific menus or establish a particular box-to-encoder connection. Use the instructions for your exact encoder rather than assuming the YouTube mobile camera flow will accept local files.
Monitor the loop and end the session deliberately
Watch the stream after it starts and verify that playback advances through the archive and returns to the beginning as intended. Check audio as well as video: a visible picture does not confirm that podcast sound is reaching viewers. YouTube’s encoder guide says to stop sending content to end the stream. It also says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; do not treat one live session as an indefinitely continuous archive. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.

Clear rights and monetization expectations
Having a copy of a podcast episode does not by itself establish permission to rebroadcast it live. Confirm that you have rights for public live use of the episodes and all included music, clips, guest contributions, and other third-party material. YouTube’s live-stream terms say creators must have the necessary rights for live content, including applicable music rights: Livestream terms and conditions.

YouTube lists Larix Broadcaster as an Android mobile encoder, and Softvelum provides Larix documentation. The cited material does not document selecting local podcast files, arranging them into a playlist, and looping that playlist continuously. Its presence as an encoder option is not evidence that it supplies the missing archive playout function.

Troubleshoot common failures
- YouTube will not let the channel go live: check channel verification and whether live-streaming restrictions apply within YouTube’s 90-day lookback period.
- The preview is blank or has no sound: check that the playback source is actually producing audio and video, then inspect the encoder’s input and connection. Confirm the correct server URL and stream key are configured.
- The first file plays but the archive stops: verify playlist repeat behavior in the playout app itself. The encoder cannot make an ended playlist resume unless the source supplies more content.
- The stream ends earlier than expected: check whether the source app, box, or encoder stopped transmitting. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, so plan and monitor sessions rather than assuming a single session runs forever.
- YouTube interrupts the stream: investigate copyright matches and rights-owner allowlisting requirements; possession of a licence does not necessarily remove the need for allowlisting.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep a YouTube channel live with uploaded podcast recordings, StreamNeo is an alternative to maintaining a TV-box playout and encoder chain: upload the recordings, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos in the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home; it supports any quality up to 4K 60fps as uploaded at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly service is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos to YouTube; it does not broadcast a camera feed. Start the free day with StreamNeo.
