To repeat the same fireplace ambience video, open it in YouTube and turn on Loop (called Repeat on some TVs and game consoles). To repeat a sequence of ambience videos, loop the playlist instead. If you want playback to stop when meditation ends, set a Sleep Timer. Autoplay is different: it chooses a related video rather than repeating the one you selected.
Loop one fireplace video or a playlist
YouTube provides a Loop control for repeating a video and a playlist Loop control for repeating a sequence. The control’s exact location can vary by device and app version.

On a computer or mobile device
- Open the fireplace ambience video, or open a video in the playlist you want to repeat.
- Open the video player’s options or context menu and choose Loop. For a playlist, enable its Loop control.
- Check that Loop is enabled before leaving playback running. YouTube says a video set to Loop will repeat continuously.
On a TV or game console
- Start the video or playlist.
- Use the remote or controller to open the playback controls or player settings.
- Select Repeat until the control indicates that the current video or playlist is repeating. The menu path varies across devices.
Choose the right playback option for meditation

Autoplay is not a substitute for Loop. YouTube says Autoplay may stop after 30 minutes of inactivity on a mobile network or four hours on Wi-Fi. It may also show a “Video paused. Continue watching?” prompt after 30 minutes of uninterrupted watching on mobile, 60 minutes on the web, or 180 minutes on TV. These intervals are YouTube Help guidance accessed on October 3, 2026, and may change.

Looping is the most direct way to repeat chosen ambience, but it is not a guarantee against network failures, ads, service interruptions, or account-specific prompts.

Set playback to stop after meditation
- Open the video player’s Settings.
- Choose Sleep Timer.
- Select how long playback should continue before YouTube pauses the video.
YouTube says a silent notification appears when the timer pauses playback. You can reset the timer if you want to continue listening.
Find a suitable fireplace ambience video
Search YouTube for phrases such as “fireplace ambience,” “crackling fireplace,” “fireplace meditation,” or “fireplace ambience no music.” Before settling in, check the video’s length and listen briefly to confirm that its sound mix suits your session. YouTube’s Culture & Trends team has highlighted multi-hour fireplace ambience, including cabin and library scenes, and a playlist of ambient spaces. Videos and playlists can change or become unavailable.

YouTube reported that fireplace videos had their highest daily viewership on December 24 and 25 in 2023. That is a seasonal viewing observation, not evidence that fireplace videos improve meditation or health.
Background playback, ads, and memberships
A membership is not required to use Loop or Repeat in the player. On February 24, 2026, YouTube announced that background play and downloads were coming to Premium Lite in markets where that plan is available, with a rollout over the following weeks and coverage of “most videos.” YouTube said Premium remained the option for all videos, including music content, with ad-free background playback and YouTube Music Premium. Availability and terms vary by region and can change; a membership does not itself guarantee continuous playback.

If you are uploading your own fireplace video
For viewers, looping an existing video does not require making or uploading content. If you create a video and add music, YouTube Help says the music must be public-domain or used with the copyright owner’s permission. A track described as “free” can still receive a Content ID claim. YouTube recommends its Audio Library and Creator Music as resources for longer videos; check third-party music licenses for the uses they permit.
