There is no single switch that blocks Siri from every kind of personal data. To reduce access, turn off app-specific learning, review Health access, disable wake-phrase listening if desired, and check separate controls for improvement samples and Siri AI conversation history. The paths below follow Apple’s iOS 27 guidance; labels and availability may differ on older software, devices, or in some regions.
What each Siri privacy control changes

How do I stop Siri from learning what I do in apps?
- Open Settings > Siri > App Access.
- Tap an app.
- Turn off Learn from this App to stop Siri learning how you use that app for suggestions.
Apple says app suggestions are on by default. In the same app’s settings, review display options such as Show on Home Screen, Suggest App, and Suggestion Notifications. The options shown depend on the app and Siri version. App-specific learning and where suggestions appear are related but separate choices; disabling learning does not mean a global switch has removed all Siri access to every app. Apple’s Siri guide describes the current controls.

- Open Settings > Apps > Health.
- Tap Siri or Apple Intelligence & Siri, depending on the available label.
- Turn off Learn from this App.
With this off, Siri may ask you to enable access again if you make a request that needs Health data. Apple distinguishes recognized Health-data requests from other requests: when Siri recognizes a request as one to read or write Health data, Apple says that Health data is not stored or made accessible to Apple. If Siri does not recognize it as a Health-data request, default handling applies, and health information included in the request is sent to Apple servers. That distinction is not a guarantee that every health-related phrase remains on the device. How do I turn off “Siri” or “Hey Siri” listening?
On the iOS 27 path documented by Apple, open Settings > Siri > Requests > Siri or Hey Siri and choose Off. Apple says the iPhone then does not listen for those wake phrases. This changes voice activation only; it does not disable app learning, Health access, interaction-sample sharing, or Siri AI features. Apple’s Siri guide documents the setting.
How do I stop sharing Siri and Dictation samples for improvement?
On iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements and turn off Improve Siri & Dictation. Apple says opting in allows it to store and review samples of Siri, Dictation, and Translate interactions, including audio, transcripts, and related request data. Apple says samples are associated with a random, device-generated identifier rather than an Apple Account or email address; only Apple employees review audio, while graders may review a subset of non-audio samples. You can change the setting at any time.

That statement is from Apple Support’s “Turn Improve Siri & Dictation on or off”, published June 2, 2026. This setting governs interaction samples used to improve these services; it is separate from conversation retention and suggestion learning.

How do I delete or limit Siri AI conversation history?
Apple says you can delete Siri AI conversations individually or in groups from the Siri app. To set a retention period, open Settings > Siri > Keep Conversations. Apple says choosing 30 days or 1 year permanently deletes conversations older than the selected period. This control concerns Siri AI conversation history; Apple does not say it deletes app suggestion learning, all Siri request data, or samples governed by Improve Siri & Dictation. How can I restrict Siri features more broadly?
For stronger restrictions, including managed-device situations, Apple points to Screen Time controls for limiting which Siri features can be used and what content Siri can access. Use Apple’s Screen Time content and privacy restrictions guide for the exact steps and current labels.

Apple also documents disabling Siri AI and switching back to Siri Classic on supported iOS 27 devices, as well as turning off individual features such as summaries. The available controls depend on device, software, feature, and region. Apple’s Apple Intelligence feature settings guide covers those options.
Where Apple Intelligence requests may be processed
Apple says many Apple Intelligence models run on device. For more complex requests, Apple Intelligence may use Private Cloud Compute; Apple says only data relevant to the request is processed there and is not stored or made accessible to Apple. This describes Apple’s stated system design, not a per-app permission switch.

To view activity, open Settings > Privacy & Security > Apple Intelligence Report. Choose a report period of the last 15 minutes (the default) or the last 7 days, then export the report.
