Turn off personalized ads for your Microsoft account
While signed in, open Microsoft’s personalized-ad settings and opt out of personalized advertising. Microsoft says the preference stays associated with your account until you change it or delete the account. The opt-out also covers sharing data for personalized ads on third-party sites, according to Microsoft Support.

This changes how ads are personalized; it is not an ad blocker or a switch that removes every promotion from the Xbox dashboard. No universal setting for removing all dashboard ads is established in the cited Microsoft guidance.

The exact console menu sequence is not established in the cited guidance and labels can vary with system updates or account context, so use the current privacy area on your console rather than relying on a fixed path.

These settings are distinct from Microsoft account ad settings: one concerns Xbox profile privacy, while the other concerns personalized advertising.
Check what you can see and clear in the Privacy Dashboard
Use Microsoft’s Privacy Dashboard to review or clear some account data and manage ad settings. It is not necessarily a complete record of Xbox activity: Microsoft says not all data appears there. What is available can depend on sign-in status, use of the relevant feature, and whether the feature is supported in your region.

Understand what Xbox data remains in use
Opting out of personalized ads or clearing visible dashboard entries does not turn off data Microsoft says is needed to provide and secure Xbox services. Microsoft describes Xbox data categories that include game and app use, purchases, console and network performance, and social activity. The cited guidance does not establish a single privacy control that stops all such service data collection.
Manage privacy and safety for a child account
A parent or guardian who is an organizer can manage a child’s Xbox profile privacy settings. Microsoft also provides child-experience controls through the Xbox Family Settings app. The Xbox Transparency Report describes customizable parental controls and states: “Every player has the opportunity to adjust and select their privacy and safety settings at any time, with those settings being effective across all the ways players access Xbox.” This statement is about privacy and safety settings generally, not removal of ads. Access to or deletion of some child data may depend on location.

Do not confuse Windows offers with Xbox ads
Microsoft’s Personalized offers control applies to ads, tips, and recommendations in Windows. Microsoft says it does not affect offers shown in other Microsoft products, so changing it is not a way to remove Xbox console ads. Use the Microsoft account ad setting and Xbox privacy controls for the separate scopes described above.
