Use the live server console—not ordinary player chat—to remove someone from a RimWorld Together session. Run deeplist to obtain the player’s exact, case-sensitive in-game name, then use kick <player name> for a temporary disconnect or ban <player name> to block the player from reconnecting. If you need to restore access later, run pardon <player name>; banlist shows current bans.

Every command below is entered in the running server’s Console tab in your hosting control panel, or in the equivalent console provided by your server software. Replace <player name> with the exact name returned by deeplist.

Where to enter the command
Open the control panel for the running RimWorld Together server and select its Console tab. This is the administrative command line documented by BisectHosting and Shockbyte. If you operate the server through another host or a self-managed setup, use that installation’s equivalent live server console. Do not type these commands into normal in-game chat: chat is a player-facing channel and is not the console interface described by the hosting documentation.

Keep the console attached to the correct server instance. If you administer more than one world or installation, verify the server name and current status before sending a command. A command entered in a different instance cannot remove the intended player from the session you are watching.
Before removing anyone
Confirm that you have console access
You need access to the running server console. If the Console tab is unavailable, ask the account owner or the person who manages the server to perform the action. Ordinary player status does not, by itself, provide the administrative console privileges needed for these commands.
Identify the target from the server, not from memory
Run deeplist first. The RimWorld Together wiki and hosting guides describe this command as the way to display players who have joined and identify the user you need to administer. Copy the name exactly as it appears. A display name typed from memory, a shortened nickname, or a name copied from a different account can select nobody or the wrong person.

Player names are case-sensitive. BisectHosting’s June 2, 2026 instructions explicitly warn, “Note: Usernames are case-sensitive.” Shockbyte gives the same warning in its March 11, 2026 guide. Treat every capital letter and space in the deeplist output as significant. If the name contains spaces, keep the spaces in the argument exactly as displayed rather than changing the spelling.

Choose the least permanent action that solves the problem
A kick is appropriate when you need an immediate, one-time removal and expect the player may return. A ban is appropriate when reconnecting must be blocked. Because a ban changes who can enter the server, verify the identity one more time immediately before using it.
How to kick a player
- Open the live console. In the hosting panel, open the running server’s Console tab (or the equivalent console in your setup).
- List joined players. Enter
deeplistand submit it. - Copy the exact target name. Use the spelling and capitalization shown in the result.
- Send the kick command. Enter
kick <player name>, replacing the placeholder with the copied name. For example, if the list showsRimBuilder, enterkick RimBuilder. - Check the session. The player should be disconnected. A kick does not block a future connection, so the same player can return later.
Shockbyte describes the distinction plainly: “Kicking a player removes them from the server but allows them to rejoin later” (March 11, 2026). Use this command when the immediate removal is the goal and a permanent restriction is not justified.
How to ban a player
- Open the correct server console. Make sure it is the console for the active RimWorld Together server, not a different instance.
- Run
deeplist. Locate the exact in-game name in the output. - Check capitalization and spelling. Names are case-sensitive; copy the value rather than retyping it.
- Send the ban command. Enter
ban <player name>. For a name shown asRimBuilder, the command isban RimBuilder. - Confirm the intended result. The ban prevents that player from joining the server again. Record the exact name you used so that you can identify it in
banlistif an unban is requested.
Shockbyte’s March 11, 2026 documentation states, “Banning a player prevents them from joining the server again.” Do not use ban as a stronger version of kick without checking the target: the practical difference is that a ban blocks later reconnection and must be explicitly removed with pardon.
Kick versus ban: choosing the right command

Both commands require the same exact, case-sensitive player name. If you are uncertain about the identity or only need to interrupt the current session, choose kick rather than escalating immediately to ban.

How to unban a player
Use banlist to find the recorded name
In the live console, enter banlist. This displays the bans currently known to the server. Use the spelling and capitalization shown there; do not rely on a remembered nickname or a newly chosen display name.
Run pardon with the exact name
Enter pardon <player name>, replacing the placeholder with the name from banlist. For example, if the list contains RimBuilder, enter pardon RimBuilder. The command reverses the ban for that name, allowing the player to attempt to join again.
If the player still cannot connect
First run banlist again and check that the exact name no longer appears as banned. Then run help in the live console to display the commands available in your server build. If your installation reports different syntax or handles arguments differently, follow the syntax shown by that console rather than guessing.

Granting administrative access for the in-game panel
The RimWorld Together wiki documents an alternative administrative workflow through the in-game admin panel. It says the panel can be enabled with developer mode, after which you use deeplist to identify the administrator and op to grant admin privileges.

- Enable developer mode as described by your RimWorld Together installation.
- Use
deeplistto find the administrator’s identity. - Use the documented
opcommand with the identifier format required by your server build. - Open the in-game admin panel and use its moderation controls after the privilege has been granted.
Identifier handling has changed. The wiki notes that, as of version 25.12.13.1, the workflow uses the username made when joining instead of the older UID approach. Confirm which identifier format your installed server build expects before changing permissions. A command that was valid for an older build may not identify the intended administrator on a newer one.

The command does nothing or reports an unknown command
Check that you are in the server Console tab, not player chat, and that the server is running. Then enter help. Legion Hosting lists help as the command that shows the commands available in the live console. Compare the displayed syntax with what you entered. This is safer than trying variations based on a different server version.
The player is not removed
Run deeplist again and copy the name from the current output. Confirm capitalization, spaces, and every character. A stale name, an omitted space, or a changed capital letter can prevent the command from matching the player. Also verify that the command was submitted to the console attached to the correct server instance.

The player returns after a kick
This is expected behavior. A kick disconnects the player but allows a later return. If the player must be prevented from reconnecting, run ban <player name> using the exact name from deeplist.
The wrong person was affected
Stop and re-run deeplist before taking another action. If you accidentally kicked someone, no pardon is needed because a kick does not create a ban. If you accidentally banned someone, run banlist, copy the affected name exactly, and use pardon <player name>.
The ban cannot be removed
Use banlist to verify the exact stored name, including capitalization. Run pardon with that value, then check the list again. If the console uses different argument handling, enter help and follow the syntax exposed by the running build. The version note about usernames replacing older UIDs also matters when administrative identifiers are involved.
You cannot use the in-game admin panel
The wiki’s workflow requires developer mode and an administrator identity granted with op. Confirm that developer mode is enabled, that deeplist identifies the correct account, and that you are using the identifier format expected by your version. Console access remains the direct route for kick, ban, pardon, and banlist.
A careful moderation workflow
For a first or uncertain incident
- Run
deeplist. - Match the exact name to the person you intend to remove.
- Use
kickto end the current session without blocking a return. - Observe whether the underlying problem is resolved before taking a more permanent action.
For a confirmed need to block access
- Run
deeplistimmediately before acting. - Verify the case-sensitive name a second time.
- Use
banwith that exact name. - Keep the name as entered so it can be matched later in
banlist.
For a mistaken or expired ban
- Run
banlist. - Identify the exact banned name.
- Use
pardonwith that name. - Run
banlistagain to confirm the administrative record reflects the change.
This sequence separates identification from action and makes the reversible option clear. It also avoids the most common operational error documented by both major hosting guides: sending a correctly spelled command with incorrectly capitalized player-name arguments.

The practical rule is simple: identify first, preserve the exact case, and choose the narrowest action that meets the moderation need. Use kick for a temporary disconnect, ban when reconnection must be blocked, pardon to reverse a ban, and banlist to inspect the names currently restricted. Enter all of them in the running server console, and use help whenever your server build presents different syntax.
