The safest plan is to bring only what you need, keep permitted small items secured, and check each ride’s loose-item rules before you board. If an attraction requires items to be removed, use its approved storage or leave them with a non-rider. Rules and storage options vary by park and ride; no pocket, bag, screening process, or visible security measure guarantees that belongings cannot be lost or stolen.
Before you go, reduce what you need to carry
Leave unnecessary items at home. If you drive, follow the park’s instructions for anything left in your vehicle: Universal Orlando, for example, recommends leaving unnecessary articles in the car and securing valuables in the trunk. Check the rules for each attraction before boarding
A park’s general policy does not necessarily tell you what you can bring onto a particular ride. Read the attraction’s posted signs and follow staff instructions, even if you carried the same item on another ride earlier.

A pocket or zippered waist pack is an option only where the specific attraction permits it and the item does not interfere with the restraint. It does not override a ride’s loose-article rule.
Choose storage that fits the ride and your day
When you cannot carry an item, use the option the park or attraction provides or permits. Depending on the ride, that may be an attraction bin, a locker or storage shelf, or a non-rider who stays behind. Do not assume every ride has the same arrangement—or that a storage area is suitable for every item.

If you need your phone accessible throughout the day, plan storage before entering a queue. Ask an attendant when the sign or available storage is unclear; do not rely on a tether, bag or accessory to get around a restriction.

A simple plan to follow on the day
- Before leaving, remove valuables you will not need and follow the destination park’s guidance for anything left in a vehicle.
- At each attraction, check the sign and listen to staff for the current loose-item rule.
- Carry a phone or small item only if that ride permits it and it will not interfere with the restraint.
- If it must come off, use the ride’s stated storage option or leave it with a non-rider; ask an attendant if you are unsure.
- Check the park’s current locker information for locations, availability and terms rather than assuming a locker will be available where you need one.
