Streamlabs says screen capture can leave the app effectively suspended; Android’s Unrestricted battery setting may allow more background work, but it is a test—not a promise. Camera streaming and screen capture are separate workflows, and results can vary by phone, Android version, and manufacturer settings.
First, identify what you are streaming
Streamlabs Mobile supports camera streaming and gameplay or screen streaming, but the two should not be treated as interchangeable when diagnosing a locked-screen interruption. Streamlabs’ Mobile Live Streaming Guide describes both workflows; it does not document a screen-off switch or guarantee that either continues after the display locks.

Camera stream
If you are broadcasting the phone camera, test that exact workflow. The available Streamlabs documentation does not establish that camera streams always stop when the display turns off, nor does it provide a device-by-device guarantee that they continue.
Screen capture or gameplay
For screen capture, Streamlabs’ Mobile Streaming FAQ says: “When screen capturing, the app is in the background and effectively suspended so it can’t render things inside of another app.” This statement concerns screen capture and rendering; it should not be generalized to every camera stream.

Test Android’s battery setting
Android has Unrestricted, Optimized, and Restricted battery-use states. Unrestricted allows all background work and may consume more battery; Restricted fully prevents background execution. Android also notes that manufacturers determine precise background restrictions, so the setting name and behavior can differ by phone. See Android’s background optimization guidance.
- Open Android Settings and find the battery-use or app-battery settings for Streamlabs. The exact path and labels vary by manufacturer and Android version.
- If your phone offers the choice, set Streamlabs to Unrestricted. This permits background work; it is not an official Streamlabs fix or a guarantee that the stream will survive screen lock.
- Run a short, private or otherwise low-stakes test using the same stream type and lock behavior you intend to use.
- While the phone is locked, check the stream from another device: confirm that both video and audio continue. Then wake the phone and inspect Streamlabs’ preview or status.
- If it still stops, restore your preferred battery setting if needed and keep the display on during broadcasts that require uninterrupted phone-based capture.
Reduce interruptions and separate power from continuity
Streamlabs recommends closing other apps and disabling notifications before a broadcast to reduce interruptions and potential lag or crashes. These steps may help with interruptions, but they do not establish that screen-off streaming will work.

A powerbank can provide additional battery for mobile streaming, as noted on the Streamlabs Mobile product page. It addresses available power, not Android background suspension. Likewise, Streamlabs’ Network Boost guidance concerns connection reliability; it does not claim to keep the app running with the screen off.
