Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo stop a YouTube livestream from ending when its video file finishes, make the encoder repeat the file. In OBS, enable Loop in a Media Source’s properties for one video, or use a VLC Video source with Loop Playlist for several videos. Then verify playback in OBS and the YouTube Live Control Room preview before relying on the stream.
Why the livestream stops when the file ends
The video file is only one input to your broadcast. OBS encodes the scene and sends that content to YouTube; when playback ends and the encoder has no continuing content to send, the stream may stop. YouTube’s encoder guidance says, “To end the stream, stop sending content from your encoder.” YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
Looping the source keeps playback going, but it does not keep a stream alive if OBS, the computer, the network connection, or the output scene stops working. YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop controls determine whether a stream can be started or stopped from the encoder; they do not make a media file repeat. Manage live stream settings.
Loop one video file in OBS
- Open the OBS scene you use for the YouTube broadcast, or create and select the scene you want to send.
- In the Sources panel, add a Media Source and choose the video file. If the source already exists, select it and open its properties.
- Enable Loop in the Media Source properties, then confirm the change.
- Check the OBS preview. Watch the file reach its end and return to the beginning; listen for the audio transition as well.
- Start the encoder and check the YouTube Live Control Room preview before going live. Confirm picture and sound, and keep an eye on stream health once live.
OBS describes the Media Source’s Loop option as replaying the file after playback completes. The control is documented in the OBS guide to Media Sources.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Loop a playlist of videos in OBS
- Make sure VLC is installed; OBS says its VLC Video source is available only when VLC is installed.
- In the broadcast scene’s Sources panel, add a VLC Video source.
- Add the video files to the source’s playlist in the order you want them to play.
- Enable Loop Playlist in the source properties.
- Preview the sequence through the end of the final item and back to the start. If the source is in scenes that can become hidden, review how it behaves when hidden and make sure the active output scene still contains visible content.
OBS documents the playlist and loop controls in its Media Sources guide.
Check the YouTube preview and stream health
Before going live, verify the complete path: the source is playing in OBS, the scene you intend to broadcast is active, and YouTube’s Live Control Room preview shows the expected picture and audio. During the broadcast, monitor the stream rather than assuming the loop setting alone guarantees uninterrupted output. YouTube recommends testing, previewing, monitoring, and allowing upload-bandwidth headroom. See YouTube’s streaming tips and its guidance on encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.

If the stream still ends or goes blank
- The encoder or computer stopped: Confirm OBS is still running and streaming, and that the computer has not shut down or gone to sleep.
- The source is not looping: Reopen its properties and confirm Loop for a Media Source or Loop Playlist for a VLC Video source is enabled.
- The source is hidden or the scene changed: Check the active scene and source visibility. For playlists, review behavior when the source’s scene becomes hidden.
- The output is blank after playback: Check that the scene still has a visible, active source and that the file actually plays in OBS.
- YouTube shows a stream problem: Read the Live Control Room’s stream-health messages, check the preview, test the setup, and confirm your upload connection has headroom.
YouTube’s controls for starting and stopping an encoder stream are separate from OBS’s media playback loop setting; changing auto-start or auto-stop will not make a finished file replay. Manage live stream settings.
Keep a local recording if the archive matters
A loop can produce a long broadcast, but it is not a substitute for a local backup. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured. It recommends a local archive as a backup: Archive live streams.
