Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteTo stream Indian-language videos continuously to YouTube with FFmpeg, copy the ingest URL and secret stream key from YouTube Studio, loop a video or compatible playlist, explicitly select the intended audio track, and encode to YouTube’s recommended settings. The command patterns below show how; test them and the full playback chain before relying on an unattended stream.
Prepare the YouTube Live stream
- In YouTube Studio, create or select a scheduled or immediate encoder stream, then copy its server or ingestion URL and stream key.
- Use the endpoint YouTube provides for that stream. Prefer its RTMPS endpoint when available; the example commands use a placeholder endpoint, not a production address.
- Keep the stream key private. YouTube treats it like a password. Do not put a real key in a public script repository, screenshot, or log; reset it in Studio if it is exposed.
- Check the selected stream’s auto-start and auto-stop behavior. For a scheduled event, sending an encoder feed may not itself start the viewer-facing broadcast: you may need to select Go live in Live Control Room.
The key belongs in the output URL in the format required by the ingest endpoint. Replace the host, application path, and key in the examples with the exact values YouTube supplies.
Choose what FFmpeg will repeat
Loop one video
FFmpeg’s input option -stream_loop -1 repeats the input indefinitely. This is the simpler setup when one recording should play continuously. The command below is an illustrative pattern, not a tested command; check the installed FFmpeg build and test privately first.
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -i "video.mp4"
-map 0:v:0 -map 0:a:0
-c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -pix_fmt yuv420p
-r 30 -g 60 -keyint_min 60 -sc_threshold 0
-b:v 5M -maxrate 5M -bufsize 10M
-c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100
-f flv "rtmps://INGEST_HOST/APP/STREAM_KEY"
-re reads the file at playback speed rather than sending it as fast as the computer can process it. The -map options choose the first video and first audio stream in the input. If the recording has multiple audio tracks, change the audio mapping to the index of the intended language track; do not assume the first track is Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, or another language you want.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Loop a playlist
For a sequence of recordings, the concat demuxer reads file paths from a text list. This approach is easiest when the files have compatible streams. The playlist file uses one file line per item:
# playlist.txt
file '/absolute/path/video-01.mp4'
file '/absolute/path/video-02.mp4'
Use it as the input to FFmpeg:
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -f concat -safe 0 -i playlist.txt
-map 0:v:0 -map 0:a:0
-c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -pix_fmt yuv420p
-r 30 -g 60 -keyint_min 60 -sc_threshold 0
-b:v 5M -maxrate 5M -bufsize 10M
-c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100
-f flv "rtmps://INGEST_HOST/APP/STREAM_KEY"
-safe 0 relaxes path restrictions for the concat list, so use it only with a playlist you control. If files differ in codec, resolution, frame rate, audio sample rate, or channel layout, a transition may fail or behave unexpectedly. Test every join; if necessary, convert the files to a consistent format before using this chain. If the files do not join cleanly, do not assume the stream will recover simply because the next item starts.

Set encoder options for YouTube
YouTube’s current encoder guidance accepts H.264, H.265, and AV1 video over RTMP/RTMPS. H.264 is a widely interoperable choice and is used in the examples. YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR), AAC or MP3 audio, progressive scan, square pixels, and Rec. 709 for SDR. It recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. The examples set a 60-frame GOP at 30 fps, which corresponds to two seconds; adjust the GOP when changing frame rate.
| Setting | YouTube guidance or example value | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Video codec | H.264, H.265, or AV1 accepted; examples use H.264 | Confirm your FFmpeg build supports the chosen encoder. |
| Bitrate for H.264 1080p30 | 5 Mbps recommended by YouTube | Use only if your sustained upload capacity can support it reliably. |
| Bitrate for H.264 1080p60 | 6 Mbps recommended by YouTube | Match bitrate to the chosen resolution and frame rate. |
| Keyframes | 2 seconds recommended; do not exceed 4 seconds | Set GOP length in frames to match the output frame rate. |
| Stereo audio | AAC at 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps recommended | Ensure the selected track is the intended language and channel layout. |
| 5.1 audio | AAC at 48 kHz and 384 kbps; 5.1 support is limited to AAC on RTMP/RTMPS | Use only if the source and playback need 5.1. |
The 5 Mbps example in the commands is YouTube’s recommendation for H.264 at 1080p30, not a guaranteed result on an unstable connection. The sample also sets 30 fps, AAC stereo parameters, and H.264 encoding. Match resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and keyframe interval to the source and the intended output; do not apply the 1080p30 bitrate to a different format without checking YouTube’s current table. Test upload speed and representative motion and audio before going live. An encoding recommendation does not ensure a stable uplink.

Preserve the intended Indian-language audio and captions
The YouTube encoder guidance reviewed here does not call for a different ingest protocol for Indian languages. The important work is in the media and the viewer-facing presentation:

- Inspect the source tracks and map the intended audio stream explicitly when a file contains more than one language or commentary track.
- Listen to the actual YouTube preview to confirm the right voice track is audible and remains continuous across playlist transitions.
- Identify the language accurately in the title and description, and use YouTube’s captions workflow if you need subtitles or captions. Language metadata alone does not create captions or change the spoken track.
- Review spelling, names, and script rendering in playback rather than assuming they display correctly.
Start, monitor, and recover the stream
- Start FFmpeg and watch its output for input decode errors, dropped or duplicated frames, reconnects, and output failures.
- Check the Live Control Room preview and stream health before promoting the broadcast or leaving it unattended.
- Test the complete playlist, including transitions and audio continuity, and verify what happens after an interruption.
- If you use a process supervisor to restart a crashed FFmpeg process, also plan for key validity, host restarts, media access, and internet outages. A restart policy by itself does not guarantee uninterrupted playback.
Plan for YouTube’s live and archive behavior
Google’s Live API distinguishes the incoming liveStream feed from the viewer-facing liveBroadcast. Its 24/7-feed example describes a continuous-feed use case; it does not establish that one endless broadcast becomes one complete archive. Separately, YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If a complete archive matters, use bounded sessions and preserve the source files locally, then verify the current Studio behavior for your event. Do not treat a persistent feed as a promise of an unlimited single-video replay.
Troubleshoot common failures
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not receive the feed | Wrong ingest URL or key, invalid key, or unsupported protocol/build | Copy the endpoint and key for the selected Studio stream again; confirm RTMPS and the required codecs are supported by the deployed FFmpeg build. |
| FFmpeg starts but the wrong language plays | The command maps the first audio stream, which is not necessarily the desired language | Inspect the file’s audio streams and change the audio mapping to the intended track index; confirm by listening to the preview. |
| Playback breaks at a playlist boundary | Files have incompatible media parameters or a decoding issue | Test each transition, compare codecs, resolution, frame rate, sample rate, and channel layout, and preprocess files to a consistent format if needed. |
| Stream health degrades or frames drop | Available sustained upload bandwidth or stability is insufficient for the chosen output | Test the uplink with representative content and choose a bitrate appropriate to the resolution and frame rate; YouTube’s recommended value is not a substitute for stable capacity. |
| FFmpeg stops and the broadcast ends | Process crash, host restart, inaccessible media, or network interruption | Inspect FFmpeg logs and host/network status; test restart and reconnect behavior rather than assuming a supervisor will cover every failure. |
| Broadcast is live but the archive is incomplete or unavailable | A continuous feed is being treated as if it guaranteed one unlimited archive | For complete replay, use bounded sessions and keep a local copy of the source; check the current YouTube Studio behavior for long events. |
