You can join a FaceTime call on a Samsung phone, but you cannot use the native FaceTime app or start the call from the Galaxy. An iPhone, iPad, or Mac user must create and send you a FaceTime link. Open it in the latest Chrome or Microsoft Edge, enter your name, allow camera and microphone access if prompted, tap Join, and wait for the host to admit you.
What you need before joining
- A FaceTime link from someone using an Apple device. Apple says links can be created on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running iOS 15 or later, or a Mac running macOS Monterey or later.
- A Samsung phone with a reliable Wi-Fi or mobile internet connection.
- The latest Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge for Android. Apple’s instructions do not provide a Galaxy-by-Galaxy compatibility list, so they do not establish support for every model.
Apple’s current steps are in its guide to joining a FaceTime call from an Android or Windows device. Samsung also describes the link-based process in its Galaxy video-calling guidance.

How to join FaceTime on your Samsung phone
- Ask the Apple user to create and send a FaceTime link. You cannot create the FaceTime invitation from the Samsung phone.
- Open the link in Chrome or Edge. If it opens in another app or browser, copy the link and paste it into the latest Chrome or Microsoft Edge for Android.
- Enter your name and tap Continue. This identifies you to the host and other people on the call.
- Allow camera and microphone access if asked. If you deny access, the browser may not be able to use those features during the call; check Chrome or Edge site permissions if you need to change your choice.
- Tap Join and wait for the host. Joining is a request: the Apple user hosting the call must admit you.
- Tap Leave when you are done.
What you can do in FaceTime on the web
Once admitted, browser participants can mute or unmute the microphone, turn the camera on or off, use full screen, and view group calls in a grid. A front- or rear-camera switch is available when the control appears. The browser experience is not the full FaceTime app: Apple says SharePlay and screen sharing are not available on FaceTime web. Can a Samsung user start a FaceTime call?
No. This workflow is for joining a call created by an Apple-device user, not starting an outgoing FaceTime call from Samsung. Google’s Android guidance explicitly says outgoing FaceTime calls cannot be made in Chrome; see Google’s instructions for using FaceTime links on Android.

If you need to initiate a video call from your Samsung phone, use a cross-platform service that the other participants can access. Samsung lists Google Meet, WhatsApp, Facebook, Skype, and Snapchat among video-chat options, but those services differ and the cited guidance does not compare their costs, privacy, group limits, or features.
Why might a FaceTime link not work?
- The host has not admitted you: after tapping Join, wait for the Apple user to approve your request.
- The browser is unsupported or out of date: try the latest Chrome or Microsoft Edge on Android, as Apple recommends.
- Camera or microphone access is blocked: allow the requested browser permissions, then rejoin if necessary.
- The connection is weak: switch to a stronger Wi-Fi or mobile internet connection; Apple recommends a strong connection for the call.
- Device or carrier support differs: Samsung cautions that video-call availability can vary by device and carrier. The guidance does not establish compatibility for every Galaxy model.
- You are in mainland China: Apple says FaceTime links are not supported there, and creating a link is not supported on iPhone models purchased in mainland China.
