Minecraft Dungeons II—also commonly called Minecraft Dungeons 2—is an action-RPG adventure and the sequel to Minecraft Dungeons. Its multiplayer supports up to four players. Pick the setup that matches where your group is and what devices they will use.

Everyone on one device: couch co-op
Use couch co-op when players are together and sharing one system. You will need the system and enough compatible controllers for the players who are joining locally.
Friends connecting online: cross-play
Online cross-play lets players connect across supported platforms. The official FAQ lists Windows, Steam, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. It confirms cross-play, but does not provide an exhaustive list of compatible platform pairings or account requirements.

A local group plus remote friends: mixed co-op
Mixed co-op combines couch co-op and online play: some players share a device while others join remotely. Design director Laura de Llorens described it as playing with a friend on the couch while other friends join from elsewhere. This is a new option compared with the first Minecraft Dungeons.
How to invite friends or join a game
- Agree on the setup. Decide who is playing locally and who is joining online. Keep the party within the four-player limit.
- Start Minecraft Dungeons II on the system the group will use and open its current multiplayer or invite controls.
- Use the prompts shown in the game to invite friends or accept an invitation. Exact menu paths, button names and acceptance steps are not established in the official material cited here, so follow the live prompts rather than relying on instructions for the original game.
- For an incomplete group, look for matchmaking. The design director has confirmed that matchmaking is available. Its interface and selection sequence have not been documented in the cited sources.
For online console play, check whether each console player has the required online subscription for that platform. The official FAQ says a platform-specific subscription is sold separately for online console multiplayer/co-op. This caveat does not establish a subscription requirement for PC players.
