“Integrate Discord with Streamlabs” can mean three different things: link a Discord server for stream announcements, send a Streamlabs scene into a Discord call, or control whether Discord voices are heard on a Streamlabs broadcast. These are separate workflows. Choose the one that matches what you want to do, then follow the corresponding steps below.
Link Discord for Streamlabs stream announcements
This workflow links a Discord server to Streamlabs so you can post a stream announcement. Streamlabs’ guide describes clicking an announcement manually; it does not document an automatic announcement trigger. The guide was last updated December 17, 2021, so first confirm Discord is still listed in your account.

- Open the Streamlabs dashboard and go to the integrations page.
- Find Discord and select Link.
- In Discord’s authorization window, choose the server to connect and complete any verification step that appears.
- Configure the announcement message and channel in the Streamlabs dashboard or, if you use it, the Streamlabels application’s Live Actions tab.
- When you are live, click the Announce button to post. The guide says the bot may appear offline except when it needs to post, and that an announcement can take up to five minutes to appear.

Show Streamlabs scenes in a Discord call
Use Streamlabs Desktop’s Virtual Camera when you want people in a Discord call to see your Streamlabs scene, including its overlays, webcam, or alerts. The Virtual Camera sends video; it does not send desktop audio through that camera path.

- In Streamlabs Desktop, open Settings.
- Find the Virtual Camera option, install it if prompted, then start the Virtual Camera.
- Join or start a Discord call and open Discord’s camera selection.
- Select Streamlabs Desktop Virtual Camera as the camera.
If the call also needs audio from your computer, route that audio separately. Streamlabs’ guide gives VoiceMeeter Banana as an example of a separate routing program; it is one documented approach, not a requirement for every audio setup.
When Discord’s own screen share is simpler
If you only need to show an application or screen and do not need Streamlabs scenes, overlays, webcam composition, or alerts, Discord’s native screen share is the simpler route. Share a specific application rather than your entire screen when you want to reduce the chance of exposing private windows or notifications. Keep Discord voices out of—or include them in—a Streamlabs Desktop broadcast
If your goal is “Hear your friends or mods in Discord without your stream hearing them,” configure audio capture deliberately. These steps are for Streamlabs Desktop, not automatically for the separate Streamlabs Plugin for OBS.
- In Streamlabs Desktop, add an Application Audio Capture source and select the application you want the broadcast to capture.
- To avoid capturing all computer audio in addition to that selected source, go to Settings > Audio and disable Desktop Audio.
- In Discord, open User Settings > Voice & Video and set the output device to the headset or speakers you use to listen, provided that output is not being captured by the broadcast.
- If viewers should hear Streamlabs alerts while using selected application audio, set the alert sources to Monitor and Output.
To include Discord in the broadcast, select Discord as the application to capture. To keep it out, do not capture Discord; also check that Desktop Audio is disabled if it would otherwise pick up Discord through the computer’s general output.

Separate what goes to the stream and what goes to a recording
For recordings that should contain a different mix from the live broadcast, enable Selective Recording and choose for each source whether it belongs in the stream, the recording, or both. If selected application capture produces an echo, Streamlabs’ audio guide advises disabling Desktop Audio.

Use the instructions for the Streamlabs product you actually have
Virtual Camera and Application Audio Capture steps above refer specifically to Streamlabs Desktop. Streamlabs also has a separate Plugin for OBS Studio. Its guide, last updated September 28, 2026, says the plugin requires OBS Studio 28.0.0 or later and describes Streamlabs overlays, alerts, widgets, tipping, Stream Labels, and Cloudbot inside OBS.
