Start with the least disruptive option: if Windows still starts, try its built-in repair or recovery options before reinstalling. If you need a clean installation, back up your files first, create a Windows installation USB using Microsoft’s official instructions, and confirm the exact Altum model and Windows edition before proceeding. The available AVITA information does not establish one boot-menu key, driver package, or Windows 11 compatibility status for every Altum configuration.
Choose the right recovery or installation method
The best approach depends on whether Windows starts and what you need to preserve. Microsoft recommends considering repair options before resetting or reinstalling. A clean installation from USB is the most disruptive option: it can remove personal files, apps, settings, and manufacturer customizations from the selected Windows drive.

Microsoft’s Windows recovery options overview describes the available paths and their trade-offs. OEM recovery media can include device-specific drivers and factory applications, but availability of Altum-specific recovery media has not been confirmed.

Identify your Altum and Windows license
Before downloading media or changing firmware settings, find the full model number and regional variant on the product label or in Windows system information. AVITA’s published Windows 11 upgrade list is dated September 27, 2021, and does not name Altum in the displayed list. That omission does not prove that no Altum configuration can run Windows 11. Check the current Windows 11 requirements for your exact configuration and ask AVITA support for model-specific guidance.

In Windows, check which edition is installed—such as Home or Pro—before reinstalling. Choose the edition that matches the device’s license. Microsoft says activation usually occurs after the device connects to the internet; a significant hardware change can complicate activation. Keep access to the account or license information you may need afterward.
Back up files and protect recovery access
Copy important documents, photos, and other files to cloud storage or a separate drive before starting. A clean install can erase data on the selected Windows drive, so do not continue if you are unsure which disk or partition contains files you need. If BitLocker is enabled, make sure you can retrieve its recovery key before entering the recovery environment or reinstalling.

- Keep the BitLocker recovery key available if encryption is enabled.
- Use an empty USB drive for installation media; making media erases the selected drive.
Create a Windows installation USB
Use Microsoft’s official Windows download page on a working PC and follow its installation-media instructions. Microsoft specifies a USB drive of at least 8 GB for installation media. Use an empty drive: creating recovery media erases the chosen USB, and you should not store files you need on it.
- On a working PC, open Microsoft’s Windows download page and choose the installation-media creation option for the Windows version you intend to install.
- Connect an empty USB drive with at least 8 GB of capacity.
- Follow Microsoft’s prompts to create the installation media, carefully selecting the USB drive because its contents will be erased.

Check the Altum’s boot instructions before installation
Boot-menu access and startup order vary by manufacturer. The AVITA material available here does not provide an Altum-specific boot key, firmware setting, manual, or confirmed driver package. Do not guess a function key or change firmware settings based on instructions for another laptop. Use the full model number to request the correct steps through AVITA’s regional support page, which lists contact routes and notes that support arrangements changed effective August 9, 2022.

Proceed only after your files are backed up and you are confident you can identify the intended installation drive. Microsoft’s clean-install procedure can remove everything on the selected drive, along with manufacturer customizations. Stop if the drive or partition layout is unclear; do not delete partitions simply to make the installation proceed.

- Connect the Windows installation USB to the Altum.
- Start the laptop from the USB using the startup instructions confirmed for your exact model. If it starts Windows instead, consult AVITA for the correct boot procedure rather than guessing at keys or firmware settings.
- In Windows Setup, select the language and keyboard options, then choose the installation option.
- Select the Windows edition matching the device’s existing license.
- At the drive-selection stage, carefully identify the intended target. If you cannot tell which drive or partition holds the data to preserve, stop and seek help before making changes.
- Follow the remaining setup prompts. When setup finishes, connect to the internet and check activation.

After Windows is installed, connect to the internet, check activation, and install available Windows updates. Open Device Manager and look for hardware with missing or warning-marked drivers. If a device is not working, contact AVITA through the regional support route with the full model number; a confirmed Altum-specific driver download was not established here, so avoid assuming that a generic driver utility is an official substitute.
