To use WASD movement in Minecraft Dungeons II, install a community mod; the available sources do not confirm a native in-game WASD option. - Install Blueprint Loader. Get the version required by the mod’s current Nexus Mods listing.
- Close the game and launcher. The mod instructions say to fully exit Minecraft Dungeons II and Minecraft Launcher before copying files.
- Find the game’s Paks folder. Open
DungeonsContentPaksin the location for your specific installation. The mod page gives examples for Steam and Minecraft Launcher installs; use the location corresponding to your copy. - Create the mod folder if needed. Inside
Paks, create~modsif it is not already present. - Copy the mod folder. From the downloaded archive, put the
WASDControlsfolder inside~mods. The intended file path isPaks~modsWASDControlsWASDControls_P.pak. - Launch and review the bindings. Open the game’s Mods tab in settings and adjust movement keys if needed. The listing says movement is camera-relative and allows alternatives such as arrow keys or ESDF.
Resolve the S-key conflict
The mod listing warns that S opens the multiplayer wheel by default. If you use S to move backward, inspect the relevant bindings in the Mods settings and change one of the conflicting actions before playing.

Remove the mod
To uninstall this mod, close the game and delete the WASDControls folder from Paks~mods, as directed by its listing.
Use wasdmod as an alternative
The separate wasdmod project describes a different approach: it translates keyboard and mouse input into Xbox controller input. Its setup instructions say to close the game, run the setup application, click Install, select a layout, and then start the game. The installer says it can detect installations through Steam, Minecraft Launcher, or the Xbox app; if detection fails, browse to Dungeons-Win64-Shipping.exe.

According to the project page, F9 displays the key list, and its editor can flag binding conflicts. The documentation also describes Mac use through CrossOver and Linux or Steam Deck use through Proton, while explicitly labeling Linux untested. The Windows executable is not code-signed yet; inspect the source and current project documentation before running downloaded software.

What to know about the beta alternative
MinecraftDungeons2WASD is described by its author as an unofficial beta, not a general-purpose verified option. The release page states a target of Windows x64, Steam build 1.1.1.0, single-player, and one local player. Its author advises restoring the original controls before multiplayer. The author reports automated tests but also says the final public-build probe was not repeated and newer behavior still needs interactive confirmation. Treat those stated limits as specific to the release documentation, and check for updates before considering it.

These are publisher-stated instructions and compatibility notes, not an independent head-to-head test. For the straightforward manual mod route, start with the Nexus listing and its Blueprint Loader dependency. If you prefer controller-input translation, review wasdmod’s layouts and software-safety caveat. Avoid treating the beta release as broadly compatible beyond the conditions its author specifies.
