What you need before installing
TakistanPlus is a DayZ terrain mod. Its Workshop item ID is 2563233742; the required Dabs Framework dependency is Workshop item 2545327648. The DayZ dedicated-server application uses Steam App ID 221100. Verify the live Workshop listings before downloading because availability, change notes and compatibility can change after a DayZ update.

The map listing describes a 12,800 × 12,800 metre terrain covering 164 km², with 480,000 placed objects. Those figures are the author’s published specifications, not an independent performance benchmark, so available CPU, memory and storage still determine how comfortably a particular server runs it.
Identify the correct Workshop items
TakistanPlus map
Use the Workshop entry whose ID is 2563233742. Confirm that its title and author information identify it as the TakistanPlus DayZ terrain, rather than an unrelated re-upload. The listing also identifies Dabs Framework as a required item.

Dabs Framework dependency
Install Workshop item 2545327648 as well. A server that has only the terrain folder can fail during startup or leave clients unable to join because the dependency is absent. Keep the dependency at the same update level as the map whenever the Workshop items change.
Client-side requirement
TakistanPlus is a map mod, not a server-only utility. Clients therefore need the matching TakistanPlus and Dabs Framework Workshop content. A server may start with incorrect client files, but players will normally receive a missing-mod, version-mismatch or signature error when they try to connect.
Install with SteamCMD on a self-hosted server
SteamCMD downloads Workshop content into a numeric directory. That directory is a staging location; it is not normally the string you place in DayZ’s -mod= parameter.
1. Stop the server and prepare its root
Stop the DayZ service before copying or replacing mod files. In the examples below, C:DayZServer is the server root. Substitute the actual path used by your installation and use an account that can download the Workshop items.
2. Download each Workshop item
Run SteamCMD once for each ID, replacing <WorkshopID> with 2545327648 and then 2563233742:

steamapps/workshop/content/221100/<WorkshopID>/SteamCMD may ask for account credentials or a Steam Guard code. Do not put a password into a script that other administrators can read; use the credential method appropriate for your server’s security policy.

Copy the actual contents into clearly named folders in the DayZ server root, or create junctions/symlinks if your operating system and deployment process support them. Typical names are:

C:DayZServer@Dabs Framework
C:DayZServer@TakistanPlusUse the exact folder or metadata name expected by your host tooling. The important distinction is that -mod= points to these named root-level folders, not directly to a long numeric Workshop path. After copying, check that each folder contains the mod’s expected files and is not accidentally nested one level too deep, such as @TakistanPlus@TakistanPlus....
4. Preserve a repeatable update process
Record which Workshop item was copied into each folder and keep a dated backup of the previous working version. This makes it possible to roll back if a new map build or DayZ patch introduces an incompatibility.
Install through a managed hosting panel
Many DayZ panels expose the same operation through a Workshop, Mod Manager or Steam Workshop section. The labels differ, but the safe sequence is consistent:
- Stop the server from the panel.
- Open the panel’s Mod Manager or Workshop installer.
- Install TakistanPlus using Workshop ID
2563233742or the panel’s verified item name. - Allow the panel to install Dabs Framework, or add Workshop ID
2545327648separately if it does not resolve dependencies automatically. - Open the generated startup parameters and verify that both mods are enabled in dependency order.
- Configure the TakistanPlus mission before starting the server.
- Start the server and watch the console or log viewer for mod, key and mission errors.
Panel automation can hide the server root and key directory. If the panel offers no way to inspect keys, mission files or generated launch arguments, ask its support team how those files are managed before making custom XML edits. A panel’s ability to install a Workshop item does not guarantee that it will merge a customized mission safely during a later update.
Configure the DayZ launch parameters
Load the dependency first
DayZ reads mod paths as a semicolon-separated list relative to the server root. Put Dabs Framework before TakistanPlus:
-mod=@Dabs Framework;@TakistanPlusDependency order matters. If your folder names differ, preserve the same order while substituting those names. A missing semicolon, a typo in a folder name or a path that does not exist at the server root can prevent startup.
Do not use -servermod= for the map
-servermod= is intended for server-only mods whose files do not need to be present on players’ machines. TakistanPlus changes the terrain and therefore belongs in -mod=. Players must load the matching Workshop content.

Check the generated command line
Whether you edit a Windows shortcut, a service configuration or a panel field, inspect the final command line rather than only the form’s individual boxes. Confirm that the two folders are present once, in the correct order, and that no old Chernarus-only mod list is being appended by another startup script.
Install and select the TakistanPlus mission
Copy Offline.TakistanPlus
TakistanPlus supplies its own mission package. Copy the Offline.TakistanPlus folder into the server’s mpmissions directory:
C:DayZServermpmissionsOffline.TakistanPlusKeep the folder name exactly as supplied. Do not copy its files into the Chernarus mission and do not leave the server pointed at the default Chernarus template.
Set the mission in serverDZ.cfg
In serverDZ.cfg, or in the panel’s mission/template field, select Offline.TakistanPlus. The configuration syntax varies by host and DayZ build, so use the existing mission-setting field rather than inventing a second entry. Restart after saving and confirm in the startup log that the selected mission is TakistanPlus.

Understand where loot and spawn settings live
TakistanPlus’s mission folder contains map-specific files such as types.xml. Edit that file in mpmissionsOffline.TakistanPlus when changing loot or spawn behavior. Editing a Chernarus mission’s types.xml will not change the TakistanPlus world.
Add signature keys for a manual installation
Copy the TakistanPlus .bikey supplied with the download into the server’s keys directory. Copy any dependency key supplied by Dabs Framework as well:

Missing or stale keys commonly produce signature-verification errors even when the mod folders and launch parameters look correct. Managed panels may install keys automatically, but check their documentation or file browser if clients report signature failures.

First startup and verification
Start the server only after the folders, launch parameters, mission and keys are in place. Use the web console, RPT file or host log viewer during the first boot and look for evidence that:
- Both Workshop folders were found and loaded.
- Dabs Framework initialized before TakistanPlus.
- The selected mission is
Offline.TakistanPlus. - No required key, dependency or path was reported missing.
- The server completed startup and began listening for connections.
Join with a client that has the same Workshop items and compatible versions. Test a fresh connection before changing loot, weather or persistence settings; otherwise it is harder to tell whether a later problem came from the installation or a custom edit.
Configure the TakistanPlus sandstorm
The map advertises warm sandstorms. During a storm, players should seek shelter in a building or vehicle; remaining exposed can cause overheating and rapid dehydration. Sandstorm behavior is configured on the mission side, not solely by enabling the Workshop folder.
Read the supplied README ServerSettings.txt and apply its instructions to the active Offline.TakistanPlus mission. Make a backup before changing the mission XML or settings files. If a panel regenerates the mission, keep a copy of the edited settings so they can be merged into the replacement rather than lost.
Update the map without losing mission changes
Keep two update tracks
Workshop files and mission files are separate. Update TakistanPlus and Dabs Framework through SteamCMD or the host’s Workshop manager. Update the Offline.TakistanPlus mission separately when a new mission package is supplied.
Back up before replacing the mission
Stop the server and back up the live mission directory together with persistence data. Include custom types.xml, spawn files, sandstorm settings and any other XML edits. A Workshop update does not automatically merge those changes into an edited mission.
Merge a generated update
Some hosting panels create a folder named Offline.TakistanPlus_UPDATED. Treat it as a candidate, not an automatic replacement:
- Compare the current live mission with
Offline.TakistanPlus_UPDATED. - Cherry-pick or merge each intentional XML change into the updated files.
- Copy the required persistence files into the generated mission folder, following the panel’s documented layout.
- Run an XML-aware comparison or at least inspect every changed file for malformed tags.
- Point
serverDZ.cfgto the finalized mission folder only after the merge is complete. - Start the server and verify loot, spawns, sandstorms and persistence in the logs and in-game.
Keep the previous mission and persistence backup until the new build has survived a complete restart and a player connection test.
Self-hosting or a managed panel?
The map itself is the same, but administration differs. Choose based on the controls you actually need:

No current hosting price or service-level comparison is established here. The practical question is whether the panel gives you enough access to inspect keys, launch arguments, mission files, logs and backups.
Troubleshoot common failures
The server exits immediately
- Read the first relevant error in the RPT or panel log, not only the final shutdown line.
- Confirm that
@Dabs Frameworkand@TakistanPlusboth exist at the server root. - Check spelling, spaces, semicolons and dependency order in
-mod=. - Make sure the downloaded content was not left only in
steamapps/workshop/content/221100/...without being exposed as a named root folder. - Re-download both Workshop items if files are incomplete, then compare with the last known working backup.
Players cannot join
Have every player install both required Workshop items and restart the launcher so it uses the same versions as the server. Compare the client’s mod list with the server’s final -mod= list. Signature errors point to missing, wrong or stale .bikey files; version errors usually require updating or rolling back the client and server together.
The map loads but loot or spawns are wrong
Check the mission selected in serverDZ.cfg. If it still references Chernarus, the server can run with the wrong mission data even though the terrain mod loaded. Then inspect types.xml and related files inside mpmissionsOffline.TakistanPlus, not an unused mission folder.

An update removed custom settings
Stop the server, restore the backup of the live mission and persistence data, and merge the intentional edits into Offline.TakistanPlus_UPDATED before switching to it. Do not overwrite the only copy of a customized XML file with a freshly downloaded mission.
The map becomes incompatible after a DayZ patch
Check the current TakistanPlus Workshop change notes and the author’s support channels for a compatibility notice. A DayZ patch can change the status of a terrain or dependency independently of your local files. Keep the previous working mod and mission backups so you can roll back while waiting for compatible builds.
License and server monetization
The TakistanPlus listing grants end-user rights to download, install and play the terrain with DayZ in its original form, while restricting redistribution, modification and certain commercial uses. It also states a condition or ceiling related to server monetization. Read the current author license and applicable Bohemia Interactive rules before operating a monetized server; those terms are not legal advice and can change.
