The Steam Workshop entry for Chiemsee (Workshop ID 1580589252) is presently marked both “This item has been removed from the community because it violates Steam Community & Content Guidelines” and “This item is incompatible with DayZ.” Do not schedule a production installation until you have confirmed a current maintainer release or an authorized server-file source. If you can obtain a working package, the installation requires Chiemsee, its SpawnerBubaku dependency, the dayzoffline.chiemsee mission, matching client/server files, and a correctly ordered -mod= startup parameter.

What Chiemsee is—and why availability comes first
Chiemsee is a DayZ terrain (map) mod listed at 10,240 × 10,240 metres. The Workshop metadata identifies Release 4.1V, posted on 2 December 2018 and updated on 24 December 2024. Those dates describe the Workshop listing, not a guarantee that the files are still downloadable or compatible with your current DayZ build.

At the time of writing, Steam displays two separate warnings on the listing: “This item has been removed from the community because it violates Steam Community & Content Guidelines” and “This item is incompatible with DayZ.” Treat that as an availability and support gate, not as an installation error you can fix with a launch parameter. Before changing a live server, confirm all of the following:
- The Chiemsee files can be downloaded from a legitimate, current source.
- The source supplies a version intended for your DayZ server and client builds.
- The package includes, or clearly identifies, the required SpawnerBubaku dependency.
- Your host or server administrator permits custom map files and custom missions.
If you cannot verify those points, stop at the verification stage. Installing an old or altered archive can leave players unable to connect, create signature failures, or damage a server that has existing persistence.

Requirements and a safe starting point
Server access
You need a DayZ dedicated server with access to its files and startup parameters. In practice that means access to the server’s keys/, profiles/, and mpmissions/ directories, plus the command line or configuration field that sets -mod=. A hosting panel can substitute for direct file access only if it provides a DayZ Mod Manager and lets you select the Chiemsee mission.
Files and dependency
A supported installation contains both the Chiemsee map and SpawnerBubaku. A documented GTXGaming workflow installs both when Chiemsee is selected in its Mod Manager. On a self-managed server, you must obtain and install each package yourself, then check the dependency’s own documentation for its required order.
The Tool Desk

Stop the server and make a complete backup before replacing a mission or economy files. Include persistence data, the existing mpmissions/ directory, startup configuration, and server keys. If possible, test Chiemsee on a clean or vanilla instance first. The hosting guidance warns that incompatible Workshop mods can crash a server; adding other mods one at a time after a clean Chiemsee boot makes conflicts identifiable.
Pre-install compatibility check
Confirm the exact package version on both sides before you copy anything. Record the Chiemsee release, the SpawnerBubaku release, the date you downloaded them, and the DayZ server build. Give that record to players so everyone updates from the same release path. If a provider offers an entry called Chiemsee but cannot identify its files or dependency, ask support to confirm that it is the current map package rather than an old cached listing.
Do not mix a panel-installed copy with a separately downloaded copy unless you know which folder the launch configuration references. Two folders with similar names can make the server load one version while a client loads another. A clean test instance is the fastest way to establish which files the startup command is actually reading.
Install through a managed hosting panel
The following sequence matches the documented GTXGaming panel workflow. Labels vary by provider, and it only works if the provider still has a functional Chiemsee package despite Steam’s current listing warnings.
- Stop the DayZ server. Do not install or replace map files while the process is running.
- Open the panel’s Mod Manager. Look under the Community Maps category and search for Chiemsee.
- Verify the package and dependency. Confirm that the panel identifies SpawnerBubaku as a required dependency or that it installs it alongside Chiemsee. If the entry is missing, do not substitute an unrelated archive.
- Click Install. Allow the panel to complete the download and file placement before editing the mission configuration.
- Select the Chiemsee mission. The active mission is
dayzoffline.chiemsee, not a Chernarus mission folder. Use the provider’s configuration field (oftenConfig.cfg) to select it if the panel does not do so automatically. - Start the server and wait. Initial map and economy initialization can take several minutes. Watch the console or log viewer rather than repeatedly restarting.
- Test with a matching client. The connecting player must have the same current Chiemsee and SpawnerBubaku versions as the server.
After the first successful boot, stop the server once more and note the installed folder names and mission path. This gives you a recovery reference if the panel later reindexes a mod or changes a generated configuration. Keep the panel’s installation record with your backup so you can reproduce the same setup.
If the server does not come online, stop it again and read the latest RPT and script logs. Do not add additional mods until a plain Chiemsee installation starts successfully.
Install on a self-managed DayZ server
1. Download the Workshop content only after verification
DayZ’s Steam App ID is 221100; the Chiemsee listing’s Workshop ID is 1580589252. A generic SteamCMD download command documented by StarDZ is:
steamcmd.exe +force_install_dir "C:DayZServer" +login your_username +workshop_download_item 221100 <modID> +quit
Replace <modID> with 1580589252 only if the item is currently downloadable and you have verified the package source. Use an account and download method permitted by Steam and by the mod’s current maintainer. SteamCMD normally creates a numeric Workshop directory; that directory name is not the name you place in the DayZ launch parameter.
Recommended Free Tools
Run the download for SpawnerBubaku as well, using its current Workshop ID or the maintainer’s authorized server package. Wait for SteamCMD to report completion, then inspect the downloaded directory before moving it. You should be able to identify the mod’s data files and a keys/ directory. If the archive contains only documentation or an incomplete folder, do not point the server at it.
2. Give each mod a named folder
Expose the downloaded content under a folder such as @Chiemsee. You can rename or copy the numeric directory, or create a junction/symbolic link, depending on your operating system and server layout. Do the same for SpawnerBubaku (for example, @SpawnerBubaku). The folder names used in the launch parameter must exactly match the folders present beside the server executable.
Keep one authoritative copy of each mod. If you retain the original numeric Workshop directory for updates, make sure the named folder is refreshed from it before a restart. A stale copy can look correctly installed while still containing an older map build.
3. Install the signing keys
Open each mod’s keys/ directory and copy every .bikey file into the dedicated server’s root keys/ directory. Refresh the keys whenever you update a mod. A missing or mismatched key commonly results in Player kicked: Modified data
or a signature-verification failure.
Copy keys from both Chiemsee and SpawnerBubaku; installing only the map key is not sufficient when the dependency is signed separately. Do not place client-side key files in profiles/ or inside mpmissions/. Preserve a list of the filenames in your backup so you can identify an accidental deletion.
4. Build the startup parameter
DayZ separates mod entries with semicolons. A map is required by the client, so it belongs in -mod=, not -servermod=. Dependencies must load before the mods that require them. The basic shape is:
Rank #3
- 🎮 Collector's Item: Allows for CO/VS functionality for co-op action (cable included). CO/VS multiplayer technology allows two Pocket Players to be linked together for cooperative gameplay using the included CO/VS cable
- 🎁 Konami Licensed Collectible: Includes arcade version of Contra and Super Contra
- High Resolution: This pocket-sized game features a high-resolution 2.8-inch full-color vertical display.
- Powered by either 4 AA batteries or by any micro USB cable (not included)
- 🎵 Built-in front facing speaker, volume control, and 3.5 mm headphone jack.
-mod=@SpawnerBubaku;@Chiemsee
Use the actual folder names on your server. Do not copy that order blindly if the current SpawnerBubaku or Chiemsee documentation specifies another requirement; inspect the package documentation and, where necessary, its config.cpp. Keep server-only utilities in -servermod= separately; placing Chiemsee there prevents clients from receiving a required map.
Check punctuation carefully: entries use semicolons, and a misspelled folder name is treated as a missing mod. If your host stores startup options in a panel field rather than a batch file, enter the same -mod= value without wrapping the individual names in extra quotation marks unless the panel specifically requires them.

5. Match the client files
Every player must have the same current Workshop versions as the server. A client with an older Chiemsee build, a different SpawnerBubaku build, or stale files can be refused before entering the server. Have players update through the same verified source and remove obsolete duplicate folders so the launcher does not load two versions.
Test with one client before announcing the server publicly. Confirm that the client can reach the character-selection or spawn screen, then connect a second player. This separates a basic map-load problem from a later conflict involving another mod or a customized mission.
Configure the Chiemsee mission and economy
Chiemsee does not use the Chernarus mission directory. The mission named by the hosting documentation is dayzoffline.chiemsee. Its economy and spawn XML files, including types.xml, belong inside that mission folder under mpmissions/.
When a panel asks for a mission name, enter the folder name exactly as supplied, including punctuation and capitalization. Selecting a Chernarus mission while Chiemsee is loaded can leave the server process running but produce missing classes, absent loot, or script errors. The mission and map package must be treated as one installation.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWhen the mission is updated
DayZ may create a directory named dayzoffline.chiemsee_UPDATED when it updates mission files. Treat it as a new version, not an automatic merge. Before switching to it:
- Back up the current
dayzoffline.chiemseefolder and persistence data. - Compare your edited XML files with the corresponding files in
dayzoffline.chiemsee_UPDATED. - Merge or cherry-pick your custom economy and spawn changes into the updated mission.
- Validate the XML and confirm that custom files retain the Chiemsee class names and paths.
- Point the server configuration at the updated mission only after the merge is complete.
If you have made no custom XML edits, the hosting guidance says you can select the updated mission in Config.cfg. Even then, retain the backup so you can roll back if the server fails to initialize.
Rank #4
- Award winning innovative design that bridges the gap between roleplaying and boardgaming in space by integrating ship to ship and boarding action.
- You and your friends play characters as the crew of a ship laid out in modular format. Your ship is on a hex map. The enemy controls whatever challenges you face. Your continuing characters rise in power as you face tougher and more exciting challenges.
- Age 12+ / 1-6 players / 60-240 minutes playing time
- Second edition, advanced rule book sold seperately
Never delete the original mission before you have compared it with the updated folder. Your existing types.xml may contain balancing or spawn changes that are not present in the generated copy. A rollback is simplest when the original folder and persistence data remain untouched until the new mission has completed a clean test.
Updating Chiemsee without breaking the server
- Stop the server. Never overwrite active Workshop files or keys while DayZ is running.
- Refresh both packages. Update Chiemsee and SpawnerBubaku through the same verified Workshop or hosting-panel mechanism. Updating only one side can create a dependency or version mismatch.
- Refresh keys. Copy the current
.bikeyfiles into the server rootkeys/, removing obsolete duplicates only when you are certain no other installed mod uses them. - Review the mission. Preserve custom XML edits and confirm that
dayzoffline.chiemsee(or the intentionally selected updated folder) remains configured. - Start and monitor logs. Let initialization finish, then test a client with the same versions before reopening the server to the wider player base.
Schedule updates as a single change window. Record the old folder names, keys, mission selection, and startup line before replacing anything. If the new release fails, restore those recorded files and configuration rather than changing several unrelated mods at once.
Troubleshoot the first failed start
| Symptom or log message | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
Missing addons |
Missing dependency, incorrect folder name, or wrong load order | Confirm SpawnerBubaku is installed, the named folders exist, and the dependency precedes Chiemsee in -mod=. |
Signature verification failed |
Server keys do not match the installed mod files | Copy every current .bikey from each mod’s keys/ directory into the server root keys/; update clients as well. |
Player kicked: Modified data |
Client/server file or key mismatch | Have the player update or remove stale Workshop folders and verify that the server is running the same Chiemsee and SpawnerBubaku versions. |
| Script errors during startup | Version mismatch, bad load order, or an incompatible additional mod | Read the latest RPT and script logs, boot with only Chiemsee and its dependency, then add other mods one at a time. |
| Server never reaches an online state | Broken package, mission selection error, or economy XML problem | Check the console/log viewer, confirm dayzoffline.chiemsee is selected, and restore the backed-up mission to isolate custom XML changes. |
| Players see a download or compatibility prompt | Client is missing the map or has a different release | Have the player install the same Chiemsee and SpawnerBubaku versions and remove duplicate older folders before reconnecting. |
The latest RPT and script logs are the first diagnostic source. Capture the full error context, including the mod name and file path; a single line copied without its surrounding load messages can hide the actual dependency failure.
When isolating a failure, change one variable at a time: first confirm the two required mods and mission on a clean server, then restore economy edits, and only afterward add other Workshop mods. This order shows whether the fault is in the base map package, the mission XML, or a compatibility conflict.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Chiemsee offline mode is not dedicated-server deployment
The Chiemsee Community Offline Mode README describes local experimentation, not a replacement for a dedicated server. It requires the Chiemsee Workshop download, places DayZCommunityOfflineMode.Chiemsee under the game’s Missions folder, and can be launched with:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
-mission=.-/Missions/DayZCommunityOfflineMode.Chiemsee
That workflow is useful for exploring or testing locally, but it does not configure a public server’s startup parameters, signing keys, persistence, or economy mission. A dedicated server still needs the named mod folders, .bikey files, ordered -mod= list, and dayzoffline.chiemsee mission described above.
Installation checklist
- Current Chiemsee availability and compatibility verified despite the Steam listing warnings.
- SpawnerBubaku obtained from the same trusted, current release path.
- Server stopped and full mission, persistence, and configuration backup created.
- Workshop content exposed as named folders such as
@Chiemseeand@SpawnerBubaku. - All required
.bikeyfiles copied into the server rootkeys/directory. -mod=contains the dependency before Chiemsee; Chiemsee is not in-servermod=.dayzoffline.chiemseeselected undermpmissions/.- Custom XML changes merged into any
dayzoffline.chiemsee_UPDATEDmission before activation. - Server and every client synchronized to the same mod versions.
- Clean startup confirmed in RPT and script logs before adding other mods.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Chiemsee Workshop ID?
The listed Steam Workshop ID is 1580589252. Verify that the item is currently downloadable before using it with SteamCMD, because Steam presently marks the listing removed and incompatible.
Why does Steam say Chiemsee is incompatible with DayZ?
The listing currently displays “This item is incompatible with DayZ” and also says it was removed for violating Steam Community & Content Guidelines. Those notices indicate unresolved availability or support; they are not fixed by changing -mod=. Obtain confirmation of a current maintainer release or authorized server package first.

What dependency does Chiemsee need?
The supported installation requires SpawnerBubaku as well as Chiemsee. A documented hosting-panel workflow installs both. On a self-managed server, install both packages and put the dependency before Chiemsee unless current package documentation specifies another order.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Where do I put dayzoffline.chiemsee?
Place the mission under the server’s mpmissions/ directory and select that folder in the server configuration. It is the Chiemsee mission and economy location, including files such as types.xml; it is not the Chernarus mission folder.
Where does the Chiemsee .bikey key go?
Copy every .bikey from Chiemsee’s keys/ directory, and the dependency’s key directory, into the dedicated server root keys/ directory. Refresh them after updates.
Should Chiemsee be in -mod= or -servermod=?
Use -mod= because the map is required by connecting clients. Keep server-only utilities in -servermod=. Separate entries with semicolons and load SpawnerBubaku before Chiemsee when that is the documented dependency order.
Can I use the Chiemsee Community Offline Mode files for my public server?
No. Offline mode is a local experimentation workflow using DayZCommunityOfflineMode.Chiemsee under the game’s Missions folder and a -mission= launch option. A dedicated server still needs named mod folders, keys, an ordered -mod= list, persistence, and dayzoffline.chiemsee.
What should I do if a mission update creates dayzoffline.chiemsee_UPDATED?
Back up the current mission and persistence, merge your custom XML edits into the updated folder, validate the files, and then select the updated mission. If you made no custom XML edits, you can select it directly in Config.cfg, while retaining the backup for rollback.
The Bottom Line
Install Chiemsee only after confirming a current, legitimate package. A working deployment needs Chiemsee plus SpawnerBubaku, correctly installed keys and an ordered -mod= list, with dayzoffline.chiemsee supplying the map’s mission and economy files. Keep clients synchronized and use the latest RPT and script logs to diagnose failures.
