Install Monet from Google Play if your Android TV box lists it as compatible; otherwise, sideload the official APK from the project’s Releases page. Then follow Monet’s current setup prompts and your device’s Home or default-launcher controls, and test both the remote’s Home button and wake-from-standby behavior. The exact controls vary by box, so there is no single menu path that applies to every Android TV device.
Check that your box can run Monet
Monet is intended for Android TV or Google TV devices running Android 8.0 (API 26) or newer, according to the Klevico Monet Launcher repository. A compatible Android version does not guarantee that Google Play will offer the app on every box: compatibility can depend on the device and its certification or software build.

Install Monet from Google Play
- Open Google Play on the Android TV box and search for Monet. The Google Play listing describes support for Android TV 8.0+ and Google TV.
- If the listing offers installation on that device, select Install and wait for it to finish.
- Open Monet and continue with its on-screen setup. If Play Store says the device is incompatible, use the official APK route below rather than downloading from an APK mirror.
Sideload the official Monet APK
- On a computer or the TV, open the official Monet Releases page and download the latest file named like
monet-x.x.x.apk. The project identifies this as its official signed build. - On the TV, allow installation from the app that will open the APK, such as your file manager. The repository gives Settings → Device Preferences → Security & restrictions → Unknown sources as an example path. The names and location of this setting vary by manufacturer and Android build; enable permission for the specific installer when prompted.
- Open the APK with the file manager and approve the installation prompt. Alternatively, install it from a computer with ADB using
adb install monet-x.x.x.apk.
If an update fails with a signature error, the repository’s documented recovery is to uninstall package com.klevico.monet and install the APK again. Uninstalling removes the app, and may affect its local state; back up Monet settings first if the app offers a way to do so and you need to preserve them.
Set Monet to handle the Home button
Installing Monet does not by itself prove that the box will use it when you press Home. Device makers expose home-app selection differently, and some builds restrict changes. Start in Monet’s current onboarding or launcher/Home controls, then respond to the system prompts shown on your particular device. If Android offers a home-app or default-launcher choice, select Monet there.

Monet’s Google Play listing describes an optional AccessibilityService for launcher behavior. The developer says it detects Home-key presses and launcher-window changes so Monet can remain the home screen after Home is pressed, after the stock launcher appears, or after standby. The listing says the service can be disabled and Monet works without it, so accessibility is not a universal requirement. Enable it only if Monet’s setup requests it or the Home behavior on your box needs it. The privacy statements about what the service observes and how its data is handled are the developer’s statements in the listing.
A release note for Monet 1.0.72 says an ADB connection was added to set the default launcher and grant permissions without system dialogs; see the 1.0.72 release notes. Treat this as a version-specific setup capability, not a guaranteed menu or procedure for every current app build and TV box. If Monet presents an ADB-assisted option, follow its on-screen instructions; otherwise, use the controls and prompts actually available on the device.

Verify Home and standby behavior
- Press the remote’s Home button. Confirm Monet opens rather than the stock launcher.
- Put the box into standby, wake it, and press Home again. Check whether Monet remains the home screen after waking.
- If the stock launcher opens, revisit Monet’s Home/default-launcher controls and the device prompts. Check whether a permission or service that Monet relies on has been revoked. User reports describe persistence problems on some setups, but they do not establish that all boxes behave this way.
Avoid device-specific package-disabling fixes
Do not disable or remove the stock launcher as a routine workaround. Commands shared for another launcher or a particular Google TV model are not validated for every Android TV box and can leave you needing a device-specific recovery. Prefer Monet’s setup flow and the options exposed by your own system.
