What you need before changing the server
You need access to the server’s configuration files and permission to stop and start the server. The exact file location depends on the operating system, but the configuration layout is:

On Windows, the operating-system folder is named WindowsServer. Other systems use their corresponding server-folder name. Do not edit files while the process is running. The Path of Titans Hosting Wiki states: “The server must be stopped while editing server files.”

Find the correct Mod ID
Mod IDs are not names that you can safely infer from a title, file name, or download page. Open Path of Titans, enter the Mod Browser, select the mod, and record the displayed identifier. The documented server workflow is ID-based: the server retrieves the mod itself when it starts.
Why the exact ID matters
A typo, missing character, or substituted workshop name can leave the server without the intended content. Reopen the Mod Browser whenever you are uncertain and compare the complete ID character by character. Keep a small inventory of the IDs you use, along with the mod’s name and author, so you can identify a problematic entry later.
Check compatibility before enabling a mod
Read the mod author’s platform notes before adding it to a public server. The Hosting Wiki warns that some map mods are too graphically intensive for mobile hardware, which can prevent mobile players from joining. Creature and skin mods are generally more mobile-compatible, but “generally” is not a guarantee for every release. Treat the author’s current compatibility notes as the deciding information.

Add mods in GameUserSettings.ini
- Stop the server. Wait until the hosting panel or service manager reports that it is fully offline.
- Open the configuration directory. Browse to
PathOfTitans/Saved/Config/<OS>Server/, then openGameUserSettings.iniin a plain-text editor. - Locate or create the mod section. Find the header
[PathOfTitans.Mods]. If it is absent, add that header on its own line. - Add one line per mod. Use the exact Mod ID shown in the in-game Mod Browser. A valid example is:
[PathOfTitans.Mods]

EnabledMods="UGC_M_DYV0XMY7GX_SK"- Save without changing the syntax. Keep the square-bracket section header, the capitalization of
EnabledMods, the equals sign, and the quotation marks. - Restart the server. On startup, the server checks for current versions, downloads required mods, and enables them.
- Wait for the startup process to finish. Large content, especially maps, can require several minutes. Do not assume a failed installation merely because the server is not immediately ready.
One entry per mod
Give every enabled mod its own EnabledMods= line. Do not combine several IDs into one value or replace the section with a comma-separated list. Keeping entries separate also makes it easier to disable one mod during troubleshooting.
Preserve the rest of the file
Edit only the relevant section unless you have another documented configuration change to make. Avoid rich-text editors that can add formatting or alter quotation marks. If your host provides an in-browser editor, save, close, and reopen the file to verify that the section and entries remained intact.
Install a modded map
A map is selected separately from the mod list. After adding the map’s Mod ID to GameUserSettings.ini, stop the server and open Game.ini in the same configuration directory.

PathOfTitans/Saved/Config/<OS>Server/Game.ini. - Find or add this section header:
[/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession]- Add the map setting:
ServerMap=TheGrimExpanse- Replace
TheGrimExpansewith the exact map name supplied by the map’s author. - Save the file and restart the server.
Map names are not Mod IDs
The ServerMap value is the map name, not the UGC_M_... identifier. Obtain the spelling and capitalization from the map author’s instructions. If the map does not load, first check that the value is under [/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession] and that it exactly matches the author’s map name.

Only one map can run at a time
Map mods are not stackable because a server can run only one map at once. You may list several compatible non-map mods, but selecting a different map means replacing the current ServerMap value and testing the new map on its own.
Understand which mods can be combined
Alderon Games says community servers can use map and gameplay mods, and its Community Servers F.A.Q. describes mods as generally stackable. “Generally” is important: compatibility depends on what each mod changes.

Use a staged activation order
For a new server, add one or a small group of mods, restart, and confirm that the server reaches a playable state before adding more. This is not a requirement of the configuration format; it is a practical way to identify which entry introduced a conflict. Keep the original backup until every enabled combination has been verified.

You can run a community server yourself or use a Game Server Provider. Alderon Games recognizes both routes. The mod configuration is conceptually the same, but the way you reach the files differs.
Self-hosted server
- Stop the service using the operating system’s service manager or your launch script.
- Edit the files in the server’s
Saved/Config/<OS>Server/directory. - Start the service again and monitor its startup output for download or map-loading errors.
Managed server
- Use the provider’s stop control before opening its file manager or configuration editor.
- Navigate to the same Path of Titans configuration path, although the panel may present it through a web interface.
- Save the file, start the server, and allow time for the provider’s process to download the content.
Provider interfaces vary, so labels and file-manager layouts may differ. The required Path of Titans section names and values do not change merely because the server is hosted elsewhere.
For a hosted option, Godlike.Host offers Path of Titans game servers and a Pterodactyl-based game panel with a config editor. Not on Alderon Games’ list of Path of Titans server providers (alderongames.com, 11 Oct 2026).
What players must do
Players do not need to find the mod files, copy them into a folder, or install each item manually. The Path of Titans Modding page explains that when a player joins a server with mods activated, the mods automatically download and install so the player can join a modded server.
The server owner still has two responsibilities: publish a valid configuration and keep the enabled IDs current. Players may need to wait for downloads when joining for the first time or after a mod update, and they must be on a platform that the mod supports.

If you enable a demanding map, state its platform requirements in your server description or community announcement. A mobile player who cannot load that map may be unable to join even though the server configuration is correct. For a mixed-platform community, test the chosen map and consider using creature or skin content that the author identifies as mobile-compatible.
Troubleshooting a mod that does not appear
The server starts without the mod
- Stop the server again before editing.
- Confirm the header is exactly
[PathOfTitans.Mods], including capitalization and punctuation. - Confirm each mod has its own
EnabledMods=line and that the ID is enclosed in quotation marks. - Open the in-game Mod Browser and compare the complete ID with the file entry.
- Save the file, then restart rather than merely reloading a web panel.
The server will not start after an edit
- Restore the backup and start the server to establish a known-good baseline.
- Reapply one change at a time, using plain text and the documented section headers.
- Remove a recently added or conflicting mod and test again.
- Check that you did not accidentally put
ServerMapinGameUserSettings.inior putEnabledModsinGame.ini.
The map does not load
- Verify that the map’s Mod ID is enabled in
GameUserSettings.ini. - Verify that
ServerMapis inGame.iniunder[/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession]. - Compare the map name with the author’s exact spelling and capitalization.
- Remove other map content; only one map can run at a time.
- Allow several minutes for a large map to load before deciding that it failed.
- Check the map’s platform notes if mobile players report that they cannot join.
Some players cannot connect
First separate a configuration problem from a platform-support problem. Confirm that desktop players can load the server, then check the mod author’s notes for mobile support. A graphically intensive map can block mobile participation even when the server is operating normally. If the issue began after enabling a map, temporarily test the server with a known-compatible map or without the map entry.
Two gameplay mods behave unexpectedly
Check whether both mods edit the same creatures or statistics. Stat-change mods are stackable only when they do not modify the same creatures. Disable one of the overlapping entries, restart, and test again. Skin, creator-mode item, and creature mods are described as stackable, but individual author instructions still take priority when a mod documents a conflict.

A repeatable maintenance workflow
- Document the intended state. Record each Mod ID, its displayed name, its author, and whether it is a map, creature, skin, creator-mode item, or stat-change mod.
- Back up before every batch. Keep dated copies of
GameUserSettings.iniandGame.ini. - Stop before editing. Never rely on a live reload while changing these files.
- Change one logical group. Add a map and its required content together, or add a small group of compatible gameplay mods.
- Restart and wait. Give the server enough time to check versions and download content, especially after a large map change.
- Test from each relevant platform. If your community includes mobile users, have a mobile player verify that the server remains joinable.
- Record the result. Note the working combination so you can quickly restore it after a future update.

- A map’s exact author-supplied name is assigned to
ServerMap. ServerMapis under[/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession]inGame.ini.- No second map is being selected.
- The server was restarted after saving.
- Enough time was allowed for large content to load.
- Platform support was checked before inviting mobile players.
- Players were told that their game will download active mods automatically.
