The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE takes a microSD card, not a full-size SD card. Eject the SIM/microSD tray with the tray tool, fit the card into the tray’s designated front position, then slide the tray back in until it is securely seated. The exact tray layout and maximum supported capacity can vary by model and market, so check your phone’s model before buying a card or planning to use two SIMs.
Before you start: check your model and tray
Galaxy S20 FE variants may have different SIM and microSD arrangements. Some use a hybrid tray, where the shared position is for either a second SIM or a microSD card—not both. Samsung lists support up to 1TB for the Galaxy S20 FE 5G SM-G781V in the US and for the S20 FE specification on Samsung Ireland’s site; those figures should not be assumed to apply to every S20 FE variant. Check your exact model and its tray before choosing a card capacity or expecting to use two SIMs and a card together. Install the microSD card
- Find the SIM/microSD tray. Use the tray illustration in the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G user manual to identify the tray and its eject opening. Do not insert the tool into a microphone hole.
- Eject the tray. Insert the supplied tray removal tool into the tray opening and remove the tray.
- Fit the microSD card. Press it gently into the designated front position of the tray, following the card’s shape and the tray’s labels. If you are also using a SIM, flip the tray and fit the SIM in the back position. Do not force either card.
- Reinsert the tray. Slide it into the phone until it is securely seated.
- Confirm detection. Check the phone’s storage settings or file manager to see whether the card appears. The exact menu labels can differ between software versions.
Keep the tray area clean and dry
Samsung says the SIM/memory-card tray openings should be free of dust and water, and the tray should be securely inserted before the phone is exposed to liquids. Keep the area dry while the tray is out and seat it fully before any liquid exposure. Choose a compatible card
Look for a microSD card and confirm its capacity is supported by your specific S20 FE model. Samsung’s listed maximum is up to 1TB for the variants cited above, not a guarantee for every regional model. The sources establish the card type and supported capacities for those variants, but do not specify a minimum speed class for basic installation; there is no basis here for treating a particular speed rating as required.
