How to Inspect Installed Apps in Windows 11 Settings

Find the installed-app list in Windows 11 Settings, and learn where to look when you need to launch an app, check storage use, or manage a desktop program.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To see installed apps in Windows 11, open Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps. Use Start’s All apps list to find an app quickly, or open Settings > System > Storage if you want to check how much space apps use.

View the installed-app list in Settings

  1. Select Start, then open Settings. You can also press Windows key + I to open Settings.
  2. Choose Apps, then select Installed apps.
  3. Browse the list or search for an app by name. Microsoft identifies this page as the place to see installed apps and programs. Microsoft’s instructions for checking whether an app is installed provide the navigation details.

Choose the right place for the task

Where to look Best for What it shows or offers
Settings > Apps > Installed apps Inspecting the installed-app list App names and available app-level controls.
Start > All apps Finding and opening an app Frequently used apps appear first, followed by an alphabetical list. All apps can also be presented in category, grid, or list views. See Microsoft’s Start menu customization guidance.
Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features Looking for a traditional desktop program or an uninstall option missing from Settings An alternate place to manage some desktop programs. Microsoft outlines the alternative in its app and program removal guidance.
Settings > System > Storage Checking disk-space use Storage use by category, including Installed apps. See Microsoft’s Storage settings guidance.

If an app is missing or has fewer controls

The app is not listed where you expected

A missing entry or button in Settings does not necessarily mean a desktop program is absent. Check Start’s All apps list, then look in Control Panel under Programs > Programs and Features if you need to find or remove a traditional desktop program. Some apps built into Windows cannot be uninstalled. Microsoft explains the available removal routes and built-in app limitation.

Advanced options, Repair, or Reset is unavailable

These controls are not required to view the installed-app list, and they are not offered for every app. For a supported app, open its More menu and choose Advanced options if that option appears; Repair or Reset may be available there. Microsoft’s app repair instructions describe the conditional availability.

You are checking storage rather than app names

The Installed apps page is for finding apps and their controls, not for a complete storage breakdown. For category-level disk usage, open Settings > System > Storage and inspect the categories shown there, including Installed apps. Microsoft’s Storage settings guide describes that view.

Use a keyboard or screen reader

Open Settings with Windows key + I, navigate to Apps and Installed apps, and search by app name. Keyboard focus and arrow-key navigation can be used to move through the page and its More menus. Microsoft also documents keyboard navigation for the Programs and Features list in its screen-reader guide to Windows app support tools.
