ZipMania lets you preview supported images and text files inside an archive before extracting them. Open the archive, browse to the file you want to identify, inspect its preview if available, then select only the files you need to extract. A preview is not a safety check: it does not establish that the archive or any executable inside it is trustworthy.
What ZipMania can preview
ZipMania’s feature list describes in-archive previews for images and text, so you can inspect supported items without unpacking the archive first. Its listed archive formats are ZIP, RAR, 7Z, EGG, ALZ and ISO. That format list describes archives the product says it opens; it does not mean every file inside every archive can be previewed. The independent IT-Administrator coverage dated 2026-09-23 also reports that text and image files can be inspected within archives.

ZipMania does not promise previews for every image format, text encoding or other file type. If a file has no preview, you may need to extract it to inspect it with an appropriate application.

- Open the archive. Double-click it, or use the Windows Explorer context menu to open it with ZipMania. The documented workflow covers opening archives this way.
- Browse its contents. Navigate through the archive’s folders to find the item you want to inspect.
- Preview a supported image or text file. Use ZipMania’s preview feature to look at the content without extracting the archive. Other file types may not have an in-archive preview.
- Select the files to extract. When you have identified the items you need, select them and use ZipMania’s extraction option. You do not have to extract every item just to preview a supported image or text file.
What a preview does—and does not—tell you
A readable text preview or visible image can help you identify a file, but it is not a security verdict. Opening an archive or successfully previewing one of its contents does not prove that the archive is safe, and it does not make an included program safe to run. Be especially cautious with unfamiliar executable files and scripts; do not run them simply because the archive opened or another file previewed normally.

The official site describes the utility as freeware with no ads or bundled software.
