Treat each run as a focused test: stay upright, identify where you lose speed, then change one technique or upgrade and compare.
How do I improve my lap times in Star Wars: Galactic Racer?
Start by learning the route rather than trying to hold maximum speed everywhere. The game’s official feature description highlights branching routes and varied environments. A route that looks shorter or faster may include hazards that make it slower in practice. Repeat the same course and note its turns, route splits, debris, walls, and safer exits.

Keep the vehicle and course constant while practicing. On an early run, prioritize finishing and mapping the track. On the next, focus on one handling skill and notice whether you lose speed on corner entry, through the turn, or on exit. This makes it easier to tell whether a change helped instead of guessing from a single result.

The vehicles have different handling identities, so one cornering habit will not suit every class. Fuse Games co-founder Matt Webster has described the game’s replay loop as learning both the tracks and the vehicle; the following techniques reflect those differences.
#1 Best Overall
- Immersive Gaming Experience: Perfect for PlayStation 5, PS4 and PC gaming titles, the Driving Force simulates the feeling of driving a real car with precision steering and pressure-sensitive pedals
- Premium Control: The Driving Force feedback racing wheel provides a detailed simulation of driving a real car, with helical gearing delivering smooth, quiet steering and a hand-stitched leather cover
- Customizable Pedals: These pressure-sensitive nonlinear brake pedals provide a responsive, accurate braking feel on a sturdy base - with adjustable pedal faces for finer control
- 900-Degree Rotation: Lock-to-lock rotation of the Driving Force means you can turn the wheel around two and a half times, hand over hand on wide turns - just like a real F1 race car
- Up Your Game: Take your racing simulation to the next level with Driving Force accessories like the Driving Force Shifter or desk and rig mounts
Landspeeder: carry momentum through a controlled drift
Landspeeders are drift-focused, and hands-on reporting describes them as weighty. Practice initiating a controlled drift and keeping momentum through the corner. Do not drift automatically through every bend: use the layout to judge whether a drift helps maintain pace or costs control.
Speeder bike: brake in, then accelerate out
Speeder bikes are quick on straights but harder to control through corners. Brake as you approach a turn, then use the class’s Kinetic Burst to store energy and accelerate out when the craft is pointed toward a clear stretch. The goal is to leave the corner with control, not to carry straight-line speed into an approach you cannot manage.

Skim speeder: favor flowing lines and banking
Skim speeders reward momentum, banking, and flowing lines, including knife-edge turns through narrow gaps. Fuse Games co-founder and CEO Matt Webster described them as vehicles that “reward flowing lines and maintaining momentum, banking through corners and knife-edging through narrow gaps.” Treat this as a distinct skill curve, not evidence that the class is automatically fastest.
Podracer: protect a fragile advantage
Hands-on reporting describes podracers as very fast but more unstable than speeders, with impacts capable of destroying them. Favor clean lines and manage risk around walls and debris. Top speed alone does not establish the quickest full-lap result if a collision ends the run.

- REALISTIC RACING SIMULATION DUO: Feel what is like to drive a real race car with G920 Driving Force Racing Wheel & Pedals and Driving Force Shifter
- PAIRED FOR PRECISION: Take full control of the race with G920 Driving Force Racing Wheel & Pedals and Driving Force Shifter
- PRECISE CONTROL: Helical transmission gears reduce noise and vibration with anti-backlash keeping wheel and pedals tight. The six-speed “H” shifter helps you execute smooth, accurate gear transitions
- FORCE FEEDBACK: The dual motor force-feedback realistically simulates the feel of tires on a turn, understeer, oversteer, drifting and more
- PREMIUM BUILD: Look, feel and durability of a real race car wheel, pedals and shifter. Wheel cover, knob and boot are covered in high-quality, hand-stitched leather with a solid steel gear shaft and polished metal pedals
Use Afterburner and Ramjet where you can control them
Afterburner provides a short boost that recharges. Ramjet delivers a stronger burst but can overheat. Either is a control decision: use it on a section with room to benefit from acceleration, rather than just before a tight turn, hazard, or uncertain route split. If a burst repeatedly sends you into trouble, move its use to a safer part of the course.
Choose upgrades to address a course-specific weakness
Upgrades can affect cornering, Afterburner, battery, Ramjet, and a vehicle’s unique trait. Pick one based on what is actually costing time on the current course: for example, a handling issue through turns or a boost limitation on a section where acceleration is useful. Change one relevant upgrade at a time and compare another run. The available sources do not establish a universally best build or validated optimal settings.

Make each practice run answer one question
- Choose one vehicle and one course. Keeping both fixed makes it easier to judge whether a technique or upgrade change helped.
- Map the course on an early attempt. Note corners, branching routes, hazards, surfaces, and places where you can safely recover control.
- Pick one cornering focus. Use a drift, brake-and-burst exit, or flowing line according to the vehicle, then observe where speed is lost.
- Test boost at a controlled point. Watch whether it improves acceleration without causing an overheat or an uncontrolled approach to danger.
- Change one upgrade, then compare. Keep the course, vehicle, and technique as steady as practical so the next result is meaningful.
Field Tests, which require meeting a target time with a new vehicle according to a PlayStation hands-on report, are a practical place to adapt to unfamiliar handling. Arcade mode is another option for quick races. These reports do not establish a dedicated time-trial mode.
Understand the trade-offs before switching vehicles
| Choice | What to work with | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Landspeeder | Controlled drift and weight | Drift-focused handling; hands-on reporting describes it as weighty. |
| Speeder bike | Braking into turns and Kinetic Burst on exit | Fast on straights, but needs deliberate corner control. |
| Skim speeder | Flow, banking, and knife-edge turns | Rewards momentum and a different handling approach. |
| Podracer | Clean lines and conservative risk management | Very fast, but unstable and vulnerable to impact. |
| Upgrades | Cornering, boost, battery, or the vehicle’s trait | Should address a course or handling weakness; no universal best build is documented. |
Why survival matters as much as speed
Walls and debris can make an apparently quick line costly. Hands-on reporting also describes crash limits in many events and campaign consequences when a vehicle wrecks out. A fast approach that ends in a collision is not useful pace; prioritize repeatable exits and learn where the course allows you to take more risk.

There is no published, supported figure for how many seconds or what percentage these techniques save, and the available sources do not identify a universal fastest setup or exact braking points for every track. Fuse Games design director Mark Bridges said the team builds tracks for speeds ranging from 300 to 1,000 kilometres per hour; that describes the range considered in track design, not a measured lap-time result.
