To improve VALORANT performance on a low-end PC, first identify whether you have low or unstable FPS, input delay, or network instability; then lower graphics settings, close unnecessary background and recording apps, and compare your CPU and graphics processor with Riot’s published requirements. These problems can overlap, but an FPS tweak will not necessarily fix input latency or a network issue—and no setting guarantees a particular FPS.
First identify what is going wrong
FPS is how quickly your PC renders frames. Input latency is the delay from an input, through the game and rendering process, to what appears on your display. Network instability is a separate problem involving communication with the game server. Diagnose the symptom before changing settings: Riot’s troubleshooting guidance distinguishes client FPS indicators from networking indicators.

- Low FPS: The game consistently renders fewer frames than you want.
- Unstable frame pacing: Frames arrive unevenly, so play can feel jerky even when the FPS counter looks reasonable.
- Input delay: Actions appear on screen later than expected; this can involve the rendering path and is not the same as low FPS.
- Network instability: Connection-related problems should be investigated as network symptoms, not assumed to be a graphics issue.
Riot’s VALORANT Game and Network Instability Basics describes these troubleshooting indicators and possible causes.

Before spending time on tweaks, note your processor (CPU), graphics processor (GPU), RAM, Windows version, and monitor refresh rate. Compare your CPU, GPU, and operating system with Riot’s published VALORANT PC specifications. Riot’s listed tiers associate minimum specifications with 30 FPS, recommended specifications with 60 FPS, and high-end specifications with 144 FPS. Those are reference tiers, not a promise that every PC in a tier will sustain that frame rate in every match or configuration.

If your hardware is below the listed requirements, tuning may still help, but the requirements give you a more grounded starting point for deciding whether an upgrade is worth investigating.
Lower graphics settings and test for consistency
Reduce graphics quality in VALORANT, then check whether the game feels smoother in a repeatable situation. Riot recommends lowering graphics quality when troubleshooting instability and names several visual effects to try disabling: Improve Clarity, Experimental Sharpening, Bloom, Distortion, and Cast Shadows. These are options to test, not guaranteed fixes; performance depends on the whole system.

- HERO Gaming Sensor: Next generation HERO mouse sensor delivers precision tracking up to 25600 DPI with zero smoothing, filtering or acceleration
- 11 programmable buttons and dual mode hyper-fast scroll wheel: The Logitech wired gaming mouse gives you fully customizable control over your gameplay
- Adjustable weights: Match your playing style. Arrange up to five 3.6 g weights for a personalized weight and balance configuration
- LIGHTSYNC technology: Logitech G LIGHTSYNC technology provides fully customizable RGB lighting that can also synchronize with your gaming (requires Logitech Gaming Software)
- Mechanical Switch Button Tensioning: A metal spring tensioning system and metal pivot hinges are built into left and right computer gaming mouse buttons for a crisp, clean click feel with rapid click feedback
- Change a small group of graphics settings rather than changing everything at once.
- Play the same kind of scenario before and after each change, and compare both the FPS reading and how consistently frames arrive.
- If there is no clear improvement, restore settings that matter to you and test another small group.
This approach helps you find a useful trade-off between visual clarity and performance instead of assuming every lowest setting will help. Riot notes that lowering settings can help older machines, while raising or lowering settings may have little effect on FPS on newer machines. See VALORANT Shaders and Gameplay Clarity.

Recording, overlays, and other background applications can compete with the game for system resources. Riot’s VALORANT optimization guidance recommends disabling recording or overlay features and unnecessary background activity. Close apps you do not need while playing, then check whether FPS or frame consistency changes.

Driver utilities and Windows settings can change their menus over time, so avoid following old control-panel recipes as if they apply to every PC. Prefer current guidance for your installed software, and change one setting at a time so you can undo anything that makes performance or stability worse.
Reduce input latency separately from chasing FPS
If FPS is adequate but controls still feel delayed, investigate the input-to-display path rather than treating every delay as a frame-rate problem. NVIDIA describes Reflex as coordinating game-engine work to reduce queued rendering work in supported games, including VALORANT. It is a latency feature, not an FPS booster: use it only when the option is supported by your game and hardware. Read NVIDIA’s explanation of Reflex.

A latency feature cannot correct network instability, and it does not establish that a particular peripheral is required. First determine whether the symptom is delayed response, uneven rendering, or a connection problem.

| Path | Reversibility and cost | When it makes sense |
|---|---|---|
| Settings and background-app tuning | Usually quick to reverse and does not require buying hardware. | Start here when the PC meets requirements or when you have not isolated the cause of poor performance. |
| Hardware upgrade research | Costs money and depends on which component is limiting your system. | Use Riot’s CPU, GPU, and operating-system requirements to guide research if your PC falls below specifications or performance remains poor after sensible tuning. |
The requirements do not identify a universal component to replace. Without knowing your PC’s configuration and which part is limiting it, there is no sound basis for naming a required purchase or promising a fixed FPS gain.
