How to Improve Bus Simulator 27 Performance on a Low-End PC

Diagnose whether your CPU, GPU or RAM is holding back Bus Simulator 27, then adjust simulation density, resolution, DLSS or visual effects accordingly.

To improve Bus Simulator 27 performance, first identify whether your CPU, GPU, or RAM is the limiting component, then adjust the settings that target it. The developer’s starting point for a low-end PC is 1080p; crowded-area slowdowns call for lower AI vehicle and pedestrian density, while GPU limits call for supported DLSS or reduced lighting, shadows, reflections/effects, or resolution. These steps are troubleshooting guidance—not a promise of a particular frame rate.

Check whether your PC meets the published requirements

Bus Simulator 27 is based on Unreal Engine 5, according to the official FAQ. Its published requirements provide a baseline for comparison, but do not specify the frame rate or image quality a particular PC will achieve.

Component Minimum Recommended
Operating system Windows 11 64-bit Windows 11 64-bit
Processor Intel Core i3-12100 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600X or better Intel Core i7-14100KF or AMD Ryzen 5 9600X or better
Memory 16 GB RAM or more 32 GB RAM or more
Graphics Nvidia GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 580 or better Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT or better
DirectX Version 12 Version 12
Available storage 20 GB 20 GB

Compare your processor, graphics card, and installed RAM separately with the official requirements. The weakest of these components is the sensible starting point for settings changes; a PC may have one component below the recommended category and others that can handle higher settings. The team’s performance guidance puts it plainly: “Your weakest component determines your overall system category and is also the first place to look when performance is lower than expected.”

Identify what is limiting performance

Pay attention to when performance drops, rather than lowering every option at once. A slowdown in a busy area can point toward the CPU handling simulation, while trouble rendering the scene can point toward the GPU. If memory is scarce, background applications may leave less RAM available to the game. The developer recommends matching changes to the likely constraint.

If the CPU is the bottleneck

In the in-game graphics settings, reduce AI Vehicle Density and Pedestrian Density first. The developer describes simulation as CPU-intensive and says lower density can be more useful when performance drops in busy areas. Reducing resolution or enabling DLSS is not a direct fix for a CPU limit: the team says neither DLSS nor Frame Generation resolves a CPU bottleneck.

If the GPU is the bottleneck

Start at 1080p, the developer’s suggested resolution for its Low End PC category. If the graphics card supports DLSS, try Quality first, then Balanced or Performance if more GPU relief is needed. You can also lower Global Illumination, Shadows, and Reflections/Effects, or reduce resolution. Make one change at a time so you can judge whether it helps without unnecessarily sacrificing image quality.

DLSS is specific to supported Nvidia graphics cards; do not assume it is available on every PC. The developer’s guidance names the settings to adjust but does not establish a menu-by-menu navigation path, so look for them in the game’s graphics settings rather than relying on an unverified sequence of menus.

If RAM is the bottleneck

Close unnecessary background applications to free memory for the game. The official minimum is 16 GB RAM, and the recommended specification is 32 GB, but those figures are requirements—not evidence of a specific performance gain from adding memory. If available RAM is still limiting, the developer says an upgrade may be needed. Before buying anything, check the PC’s current configuration and motherboard compatibility; the official guidance does not specify a universally suitable RAM kit.

Apply changes in a useful order

  1. Compare your CPU, GPU, and RAM with the official requirements. Use the weakest component as your initial settings baseline.
  2. Change the setting tied to the likely bottleneck. For crowded-area CPU drops, reduce AI vehicle and pedestrian density. For GPU strain, start at 1080p and consider supported DLSS or lower visual effects. For tight memory, close unnecessary applications.
  3. Recheck the same kind of situation. For example, compare performance in a similarly busy area after changing simulation density. Keep a change only if it improves your experience; the developer has not published a guaranteed FPS result for these adjustments.
  4. Consider hardware changes only after confirming the limit. A RAM upgrade is relevant when memory is inadequate, but compatibility depends on the specific PC. The available official guidance does not identify a particular CPU or graphics card upgrade for an unspecified system.

Install the latest update, but keep expectations realistic

The official changelog lists PC Hotfix #10 and Update Version 1.17 on October 1, 2026, and reports additional performance improvements and optimizations. It does not quantify FPS gains or identify which PC configurations benefit most, so the update is worth keeping current but cannot be treated as a guaranteed fix for a low-end system.
