To get longer Slay the Spire 2 sessions on Steam Deck, lower the screen brightness to a comfortable level, set a frame-rate cap you find smooth, and cautiously reduce the game’s per-game TDP limit. Make one change at a time and check how the game feels: there is no published, game-specific test establishing an ideal setting or a guaranteed runtime. The game is Early Access, so performance may also change between builds.
Start with your Steam Deck model
Slay the Spire 2 is listed as Steam Deck compatible by developer Mega Crit, but compatibility is not a battery-life guarantee. Its official FAQ confirms compatibility and notes that the Early Access game is still being developed. Updates can change performance, so treat the settings below as experiments rather than a validated profile.

These are Valve’s broad hardware-level figures, not Slay the Spire 2 test results. Runtime varies with settings and use, and the OLED’s larger listed battery alone does not establish how long this game will run. See Valve’s LCD specifications and OLED specifications.
Try a lower frame-rate target
Use SteamOS’s per-game performance controls to cap the frame rate at a level that still feels responsive to you. A turn-based card game may be comfortable at a lower target than a fast action game, but the best balance is personal and has not been established in a controlled Slay the Spire 2 battery test.

- Open the game’s performance controls from the Steam Deck Quick Access menu.
- Enable a per-game profile if that option is available.
- Lower the frame-rate limit gradually, then play for a while and watch for stutter or sluggish response.
- If the game no longer feels smooth, raise the limit again.
Keep the refresh setting within your model’s display limit: 60 Hz for LCD or 90 Hz for OLED. Steam Support says refresh rates can be lowered in device settings and warns that application settings above the model cap will not improve performance and may drain charge faster. Lower the per-game TDP carefully
If you want to experiment further, reduce the game’s per-game TDP limit in the same performance controls, one step at a time. Watch actual frame rate and frame pacing as you play. If you notice stutters, uneven animation, or sluggishness, restore the previous setting.

No official source gives an optimal TDP for Slay the Spire 2, and there is no substantiated fixed runtime gain for a particular wattage. A community post describes one player’s settings, but it is anecdotal rather than a controlled test or an authoritative recommendation: Steam Deck community post.

Reduce screen brightness and unnecessary power use
- Lower brightness to the dimmest level that remains comfortable in your surroundings. The sources do not quantify the effect for this game.
- Turn off Wi-Fi or Bluetooth only if you do not need them for your play session.
- When pausing for a break, press the power button to suspend the Deck. Valve confirms that this suspends the game; no specific battery-saving figure for suspend is published.
Valve describes approximately 7–8 hours as the maximum battery life for lighter use cases such as game streaming, smaller 2D games, or web browsing. That general statement is not a Slay the Spire 2 runtime estimate; see Valve’s Steam Deck hardware page.

Use a power bank when settings are not enough
A USB-C Power Delivery power bank with output suitable for Steam Deck charging can extend a session away from an outlet. It supplies external power rather than improving the Deck’s internal battery efficiency. Valve lists 45 W USB-C PD 3.0 charging input for both models in their specifications, so check that an accessory’s output is appropriate before relying on it.

- Start with comfortable brightness and a frame-rate cap within the Deck’s refresh limit.
- Play long enough to judge smoothness and responsiveness, then adjust the frame-rate cap if needed.
- Only then lower TDP gradually, checking for stutter after each change.
- For a useful comparison, keep other conditions as consistent as possible: game build, brightness, wireless use, and play style can all affect observed runtime.
Because no cited source measures Slay the Spire 2’s battery draw, use your Deck’s own battery estimate during play as a practical guide rather than treating any published hardware range as a promise for this game.
