To get more time between charges on a ThinkPad X13, lower the screen brightness, turn on Windows Battery Saver, stop charging unnecessary devices from the laptop, and switch off Bluetooth when you are not using it. For longer breaks, shut down or hibernate instead of leaving the notebook in standby. The size of any runtime improvement depends on your X13’s generation, configuration, battery condition and workload; Lenovo does not publish a before-and-after gain for these settings.
Start with settings that reduce power use
Lower screen brightness
Reduce brightness to the lowest level that remains comfortable to read. Lenovo identifies the display as a major battery user, but does not quantify how much runtime a particular brightness change adds. Lenovo’s battery-power guidance recommends reducing brightness.

Turn on Windows Battery Saver
Battery Saver can limit background application activity. In Windows 11, open Settings > System > Battery and turn on Battery saver. Windows 10 uses Settings > System > Battery; there, you can also set an automatic activation threshold and optionally dim the screen. Menu names can change between Windows releases, so use the battery settings available on your installed version. Lenovo’s Windows battery guidance describes the feature and these options.

Unplug peripherals that do not need to stay connected, especially phones or headphones drawing power from the X13. Lenovo recommends disconnecting devices that are charging from the notebook. Its battery-power guidance also suggests turning off Bluetooth when it is not needed. Leave Bluetooth on if you rely on a wireless mouse, headset or other device.

Use shutdown or hibernate for longer breaks
Standby continues to use energy to keep the computer ready. If you will not use the laptop for a while, shut it down or hibernate it rather than leaving it in standby. Lenovo includes both as options for reducing power use during extended idle periods. See Lenovo’s guidance.
If your X13 is usually plugged in, check its charging settings
For a laptop that spends most of its time connected to AC power, a lifespan or conservation setting may help limit long-term battery wear. Lenovo’s general guidance describes options named Optimize for Battery Lifespan or Conservation Mode on systems with the relevant management software. Depending on the system, the setting may cap charging at 80% or 60% of design capacity.

A charge cap leaves less stored charge for your next unplugged session, so it is a longevity measure rather than a way to extend the next outing. The feature and its menu path vary: check Lenovo’s instructions for your exact X13 generation and installed Lenovo management software before looking for or enabling it. ThinkPad X13 is a product family, not one fixed hardware configuration. Battery capacity alone varies: Lenovo lists 41Wh and 54.7Wh options for both the X13 Gen 5 and the X13 Gen 4 Intel. The display, processor, software, wireless use, brightness, power settings, battery age, temperature and workload also affect runtime. Compare machines only when those factors and the test method are known.

Lenovo’s published battery-life numbers are approximate maximum results under specified configurations and test conditions—not a promise of everyday runtime. For example, the X13 Gen 4 Intel specification lists up to 12.2 hours in MobileMark 25 and up to 19.0 hours of local video playback at 150 nits for one configuration. These results come from different tests and conditions; neither predicts how long an ordinary work session will last. Check the specification for your own machine before using a published figure as a comparison point.

When runtime seems unusually short
First establish what machine and conditions you are evaluating. Find the exact generation and machine type, then check its battery capacity and health, display and processor configuration, operating system, brightness, wireless state, workload and measurement method. Without those details, a comparison with another X13—or a recommendation for a replacement battery—could be misleading.

If the X13 still falls short after you reduce avoidable power use, compare runtime under similar conditions: the same workload, brightness, wireless use and power settings. A video-playback maximum is not a fair benchmark for a day of mixed office work, and a newer or differently configured X13 may not be a useful direct comparison.
For travel, consider a compatible USB-C PD power bank
Lenovo lists both 45W and 65W USB-C Power Delivery adapters for the X13 Gen 5, so a USB-C PD power bank may be useful when you need to recharge away from an outlet. The specification does not validate a particular power bank or establish compatibility with every X13. Check the charging requirements for your exact generation and confirm that the bank provides suitable USB-C PD output before relying on it.
