You can use the iPhone’s built-in Visual Look Up feature to search for a flower or plant in a photo: open the image in Photos, tap Info, then tap the leaf icon if it appears. The feature works on iOS 15 or later, but Apple cautions that it may not be available for every photo.
Identify a plant or flower in Photos
-
Open the plant or flower picture in the Photos app. A clear image where the subject is easy to distinguish may be more useful to inspect, but Apple does not guarantee that every plant photo will produce a result.

Tap the Info button below the photo. When Visual Look Up is available for that image, an indicator appears; for plants and flowers, look for the leaf icon.

Why the leaf icon may not appear
If the Info button has no star or Visual Look Up indicator, Apple says the feature is not available yet for that photo. That does not establish that the subject is not a plant; the feature simply has no result to show for that image. Try another photo if you have one, or identify the plant with a trusted regional reference.
Requirements and availability
Apple’s stated minimum for Visual Look Up on iPhone is iOS 15 or later. Availability can also vary by region. Check Apple’s feature availability list for the conditions that apply where you are. The workflow described here is an existing-photo feature in Photos; it is separate from Visual Intelligence.

What the result can—and cannot—tell you
Visual Look Up provides a visual-search result, not a guaranteed botanical identification. Apple’s instructions explain how to open a result but do not publish an accuracy statistic, confidence threshold, or guarantee that it will identify a species. If exact identification matters, compare the suggestion with reliable local botanical references. Do not use an image result alone to decide whether a plant is safe to eat or touch, or how to treat it.

These are distinct Apple capabilities. Visual Look Up starts with a photo already in Photos and has an iOS 15-or-later requirement. Visual Intelligence is a separate camera-oriented interaction, and Apple lists “Plants and Animals” under Apple Intelligence. Its device, language, and regional availability conditions are separate; do not assume that eligibility for one workflow means eligibility for the other. Apple’s feature availability list distinguishes them.
