What Elysium Days requires
Elysium Days is a Vanilla+ modpack for Minecraft Java Edition 1.20.1. It uses Fabric and is published for both client and server environments, adding quality-of-life changes and new features while retaining a mostly vanilla feel. The current release identified here is Elysium Days 8.0.0 [1.20.1]. Release notes state that worlds from 7.0.0 are compatible, but a backup should be made before migration.
The Modrinth listing showed 410.4K downloads in 2026. That is a page metric, not a recommendation for RAM, CPU capacity, or maximum players; the project does not publish a tested minimum for those items.

Compatibility rules
- Use Minecraft Java Edition 1.20.1 on both the server and every client.
- Use Fabric, with a loader and libraries compatible with the pack release.
- Install exactly the same Elysium Days release on the server and clients. Do not casually combine 7.0.0 and 8.0.0 files.
- Keep a world backup before changing pack releases or moving a world between machines.

Pick a managed service when you want the pack installed quickly and do not need unusual files or startup behavior. Pick manual hosting when you need custom configurations, your own hardware, arbitrary modpack uploads, or reliable SFTP access.
Route A: create the server with a managed host
This route works only when the provider explicitly lists Elysium Days and Fabric 1.20.1 in its modpack installer. A generic “Fabric supported” label is not enough: the host must permit this pack’s files and version.

- Search the provider’s modpack catalog for Elysium Days.
- Verify that the available entry is for Minecraft 1.20.1 and Fabric.
- Check the selected plan’s RAM, CPU allocation, storage, player limits, backup options, SFTP access, upgrade path, and data-center regions.
- Confirm how the provider handles Java selection and custom startup arguments.
2. Install the matching release
- Open the host’s modpack or game-installer page.
- Search for Elysium Days and select the release that matches the clients you intend to use. If the panel offers a server-pack choice, choose the same release number shown in the client launcher.
- Select a region close to the majority of players and a plan that can be monitored or upgraded.
- Create the server. The panel may download files and configure Fabric automatically.
Some hosted-server marketplaces document a flow in which the server is created through a modpack installer and billed through the marketplace’s normal checkout. The exact labels and billing provider vary, so follow the panel’s current instructions rather than assuming every host uses the same screens.
3. Start and accept the EULA
- Press Start in the server panel.
- If the console pauses for Mojang’s EULA, open the file editor or EULA prompt, set acceptance to
true, save, and start again. - Wait for the console to report that the server has finished loading. Do not distribute the address while it is still reporting missing mods or repeated crashes.
- Copy the server address and port shown by the panel. If the address includes a non-default port, players must enter both values.
4. Give friends a matching profile
Tell each player to install the exact Elysium Days release through a launcher that supports Modrinth packs, such as Modrinth’s own launcher or Prism. Some hosted-server panels can package the modpack and connection details into an importable profile, allowing friends to receive the correct files and address without creating another paid server. If you use that feature, still verify the imported release number before anyone joins.

Route B: install Elysium Days manually
Manual installation is the fallback for a home machine or a provider that allows SFTP and arbitrary modpack uploads. The project documentation’s procedure starts with the release .mrpack; a Fabric server alone is not the complete pack.
1. Download the release
- Download the latest Elysium Days
.mrpackrelease from the project’s official distribution page. - Record the release number, such as 8.0.0, and keep that file as an archive for recovery.
- Do not substitute a client-only profile or a different Minecraft version.
2. Convert the .mrpack to a ZIP
An .mrpack is an installer package rather than a server directory. Use an mrpack-to-ZIP utility, as the project documentation directs, then extract the resulting ZIP into a temporary folder. Inspect the extracted contents before uploading them; the goal is to identify the pack’s mods and configuration directories, not to blindly copy every folder.
3. Install the matching Fabric server
- On the target machine, install the Fabric server for Minecraft 1.20.1.
- Use the loader and installer versions expected by the Elysium Days release. Keep the server in a dedicated directory so its world, logs, and configuration are easy to back up.
- Run the server once if necessary to generate its initial files, then stop it before copying the pack.
4. Copy server files
Copy the extracted mods directory and the pack’s configuration files into the Fabric server directory. The hosting documentation specifically describes uploading mods, config, and defaultconfigs through SFTP when the server is remote.
Do not copy resourcepacks or shaderpacks to the server. They are client assets in the documented procedure. Players install those assets in their own launchers if the pack requires them.

5. Accept the EULA and configure the server
- Open
eula.txtand change the acceptance line toeula=true, then save it. - Edit
server.propertiesfor the world name, difficulty, game mode, view distance, simulation distance, whitelist, and other settings you want. Change one setting at a time while troubleshooting. - Set the host’s Java runtime and startup configuration to the versions supported by Minecraft 1.20.1 and the installed Fabric server.
- Ensure the startup command points to the actual server launcher JAR. A typical command is
java -jar fabric-server-launch.jar nogui; use the filename generated by your Fabric installation if it differs.
6. Start and read the console
- Start the server from the terminal, control panel, or service manager.
- Wait for a clean completion message and watch for missing-mod, incompatible-version, Java-runtime, or permission errors.
- Stop and correct errors before inviting players. Repeated crash loops can damage a world if you keep restarting without identifying the cause.
- Once the server is stable, note the listening port and test a local connection before sharing it publicly.
Set up every player’s client
- Install a launcher that can import Modrinth modpacks, such as Modrinth or Prism.
- Install the same Elysium Days release installed on the server; for this guide’s current release, that means 8.0.0 for Minecraft 1.20.1.
- Allow the launcher to install the required Fabric loader and pack dependencies.
- Launch once in single-player so the client creates its directories, then close the game.
- Enter the server address and port under Multiplayer and connect.
If a launcher does not support the pack directly, use the launcher-specific installation path in the Elysium Days documentation rather than manually mixing files from unrelated profiles.
Networking and permissions
Managed hosting
The host normally exposes a public address and port. Copy both exactly, including a non-standard port. If the panel offers a firewall, whitelist, or online-mode control, leave secure defaults in place unless you understand the consequence of changing them.

- Allow the server’s listening port through the machine’s firewall.
- Forward that port from the router to the server’s local IP address if friends connect from outside your network.
- Reserve the server’s local IP so a router reboot does not send the forwarding rule to another device.
- Share the public address only with people who should have access, and use the server whitelist when appropriate.
- Test from a different network, such as a phone hotspot, because a local test can succeed even when inbound forwarding is broken.
How much hardware do you need?
No source for Elysium Days publishes a tested minimum RAM, CPU specification, or player count. Avoid promises based on generic modded-Minecraft numbers. Capacity depends on simultaneous players, view and simulation distances, chunk generation, redstone or entity activity, world size, and any configuration changes you make.
A practical sizing process
- Start with a plan or machine that exposes CPU, memory, and tick-time monitoring.
- Use conservative view and simulation distances while testing.
- Invite the number of players you actually expect, explore new chunks, and observe memory use, CPU saturation, and server tick time.
- Increase resources or reduce distances if the server falls behind during peak activity.
- Choose a provider or machine that allows upgrades without rebuilding the world.
Because there is no project-specific baseline, treat a capacity claim as unverified until it survives a test with your own players and settings.

Upgrading a 7.0.0 world to 8.0.0
The 8.0.0 release notes state that 7.0.0 worlds are compatible. Compatibility is not a substitute for a rollback plan.

- Stop the server cleanly.
- Copy the entire world directory, server configuration, and current
modsand config folders to a separate backup location. - Record the old release number and startup settings.
- Install the 8.0.0 files on a test copy of the server, not on the only copy of the world.
- Start the test copy and inspect the console and the world in-game.
- Only after the test succeeds, schedule downtime, install 8.0.0 on the live server, and retain the old backup until players have verified their builds and inventories.
Troubleshooting checklist
The pack will not launch
- Confirm Minecraft is 1.20.1, not another 1.20.x release.
- Confirm Fabric is selected on both sides.
- Confirm the Java runtime is supported by the Fabric server and launcher.
- Confirm the client and server use the same Elysium Days release.
Missing or incompatible mod errors
- Stop the server and restore the official release files.
- Compare the server’s
mods,config, anddefaultconfigsdirectories with a freshly extracted copy. - Remove manually added mods until the official pack starts cleanly.
- Do not “fix” a dependency error by copying a random version from another pack.
Client-only assets are causing problems
Remove resourcepacks and shaderpacks from the server directory. Keep them in the client installation where they belong.
The world fails after an upgrade
Stop using the upgraded copy, restore the pre-upgrade backup, and test the release change on a duplicate world. Even with the stated 7.0.0-to-8.0.0 compatibility, a backup is the recovery path for an interrupted conversion or a mod configuration mistake.
Friends cannot connect
- Verify the server is running and has completed startup.
- Check the address and port copied from the host panel.
- For home hosting, recheck firewall and router/NAT forwarding.
- Confirm every friend imported or installed the same pack release, Minecraft version, and Fabric profile.
- Check the console while a friend attempts to join; it distinguishes a network refusal from a client-version rejection.

- Server and clients: identical Elysium Days release.
- Server:

For most groups, the managed installer is the shortest path to a working Elysium Days server. Manual Fabric hosting is the better choice when file-level control, custom settings, or self-hosting matters more than convenience.
