Supersymmetry targets Minecraft 1.12.2 with Forge, so every player must install the identical pack release, mods, and configuration files as the server.
Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
What you are hosting
Supersymmetry is a large, GregTech-based technology pack for Minecraft 1.12.2 running on Forge. Its progression models chemical and physical manufacturing, and the project remains under development. That combination makes version control especially important: recipes, machines, world-generation settings, and individual mods can change between releases.

The official CurseForge listing currently identifies supersymmetry-0.2.0.1.zip, a Forge 1.12.2 release uploaded October 14, 2026. Treat that filename as a release identifier, not as a promise that it will remain current. Supersymmetry publishes updates frequently, so choose one release, record its exact version, and keep the server and every client on that same release.
Download the correct server pack
Use the project’s release artifacts
Supersymmetry’s release notes direct administrators to download the server and client from the SymmetricDevs GitHub Releases page linked by the official CurseForge project. Select the release you intend to run, then download its server archive. Do not build a server by copying files from a random client installation unless the project’s release instructions specifically require it.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The project’s build documentation treats client and server instances as separate outputs. A server archive normally includes the Forge libraries, mods, configuration files, scripts, and defaults needed for headless operation. Keep the original archive and its filename, and record the release date or version in your administration notes so you can reproduce an upgrade or rollback.
Keep clients aligned
Give players the client download for the same release you installed on the server. A client from a newer or older release can fail during the Forge handshake, report missing or extra mods, reject a registry, or connect and then disconnect when a world is loaded. “Almost the same version” is not sufficient for a modpack server.
Prepare the machine
Install the required Java runtime
Supersymmetry’s Minecraft version is covered by CurseForge’s compatibility guidance for Minecraft 1.16.5 and older, which recommends Java 8. Install a 64-bit Java 8 runtime on the host. The available material does not require a particular Java 8 vendor and does not establish a universal JVM flag set, so use the executable and launch script supplied with your selected server archive.
Before the first launch, open a terminal or command prompt and run:
java -version
Confirm that the reported runtime is Java 8 and that the process is using the 64-bit installation. If several Java versions are installed, the launcher may select the wrong one through the operating system’s PATH. Adjust the launcher’s Java path, or your system configuration, so the supplied server script explicitly invokes the Java 8 executable. Keep a note of that path; it makes future troubleshooting much easier.

Create an isolated server directory
Extract the server archive into a new directory dedicated to this Supersymmetry release. Do not mix it with another modpack, an old Forge installation, or a previous release’s mods and config folders. Isolation prevents stale libraries and configuration files from creating errors that look like pack bugs.
Recommended Free Tools
Give the account that runs Minecraft read and write access to this directory, but avoid running the server as an operating-system administrator or root account. Keep the directory on storage with enough free space for the world, logs, backups, and temporary files; the supplied sources do not define a fixed disk requirement.
Launch Supersymmetry for the first time
Use the launch script included in the server archive rather than inventing a replacement command. The script is the pack’s authoritative place for Forge’s class path and any project-specific settings.
- Record the release. Write down the version shown on the GitHub release and the exact server archive filename.
- Extract cleanly. Unpack every supplied file into the dedicated directory, preserving the folder structure.
- Verify Java. Run
java -versionand correct the launcher’s Java path if it does not report Java 8. - Start the supplied launcher. Run it once with no players connected. The initial launch creates Minecraft files and may stop to present the EULA prompt.
- Read and accept the EULA. Follow Mojang’s terms and the instructions displayed by the server. The retrieved Supersymmetry material does not publish special EULA wording.
- Start again and watch the console. Wait for Forge and the pack to finish loading before attempting a connection. Save the first startup log if you need support later.
- Stop cleanly. Use the server console’s normal stop command instead of closing the terminal or killing the process. A clean stop lets the world save and reduces the chance of filesystem corruption.
- Only then invite players. Confirm that the server can create or load a world and that no repeated error appears in the console.
Choose memory for your player count
The only pack-specific sizing guidance available is a hosting-provider recommendation, not an independent benchmark or a guarantee. It gives these starting ranges:
| Concurrent players | Suggested memory allocation | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| 1–5 | 6–8 GB | Starting range published by the provider for a small group |
| 5–15 | 10–12 GB | Starting range published by the provider for a medium group |
| 15+ | 12–16 GB | Starting range published by the provider for larger groups |
These figures describe memory assigned to the Minecraft process, not the total physical memory in the computer. Leave additional RAM for the operating system, file cache, monitoring tools, and any other services. A machine with exactly the allocation shown in the table can still run out of memory if the operating system has no headroom.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Begin at the lower end that fits your group, then observe actual behavior while players explore, generate chunks, and operate machines. Increase the allocation only when logs or operating-system monitoring show memory pressure; giving Java every available gigabyte can make garbage-collection pauses worse and can starve other processes. The published figures are not a performance test, so they cannot predict a particular CPU, storage device, world, or view-distance setting.
Configure the server before opening it to friends
Apply basic access controls
- Keep
online-modeenabled unless you have a documented, understood reason to change it. Disabling authentication changes the security model and should not be treated as a quick connection fix. - Use the whitelist for the people who should join. Add and remove names deliberately rather than leaving an unrestricted public server.
- Run Minecraft under a dedicated operating-system account with access limited to the server directory.
- Back up the world and configuration before changing permissions, mods, or launch settings.
Set the world and gameplay options deliberately
Review the generated server configuration after the first successful launch. Keep a written record of any change to world settings, difficulty, whitelist state, or Java path. Supersymmetry’s machines and recipes depend on its configuration files, so copying settings from another pack can produce an apparently functional server with an incompatible progression.
Let players connect from outside your home
A server started on a home computer is normally reachable only from the same local network. Players elsewhere need a router rule that forwards the Minecraft port configured by your server to the host machine, plus a firewall rule allowing that traffic. CurseForge’s guide explicitly identifies port forwarding as necessary for players outside the home network.
- Test locally first. Have a player on the same network connect using the host computer’s local address. Fix Java, Forge, or pack errors before involving the router.
- Find the configured port. Read the server’s configuration and use the port it specifies. Do not assume a port from another installation.
- Assign the host a stable local address. A DHCP reservation on the router prevents the forwarding rule from silently pointing at a different device after a reboot.
- Create the firewall exception. Allow the chosen TCP traffic to the Java server on the host operating system. Restrict the rule to the required network profiles and port.
- Create port forwarding. Forward the same external port on the router to the server’s stable local address and configured internal port.
- Test from an external network. Use a player on cellular data or another network. Testing from inside the same LAN can give a false result because some routers do not support loopback.
- Share the public endpoint carefully. Give trusted players your public address or a DNS name that you control. Never post it together with administrative credentials.
If external testing fails while local connections work, check the router’s forwarding target, the host firewall, and whether your internet service uses carrier-grade NAT. The supplied Supersymmetry sources do not document a special networking requirement beyond normal port forwarding.
Keep every client synchronized
Each player should install the client package belonging to the server’s recorded release. Ask them to close Minecraft completely after changing versions so that the launcher does not leave an older instance running. A clean client profile dedicated to Supersymmetry is safer than adding its mods to an unrelated 1.12.2 profile.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
When a player reports a connection error, capture the exact message and compare:
- the pack version and archive filename;
- the Minecraft version, which must be 1.12.2;
- the Forge version supplied by that release;
- the contents of the
modsandconfigdirectories; and - any server-side configuration change made after the world was created.
Do not solve a mismatch by copying the server’s entire directory over a player’s instance. Preserve the player’s saves, then reinstall the matching client distribution so its libraries and launcher metadata remain consistent.
Back up before changing versions
Supersymmetry releases document frequent mod updates and can include changes affecting recipes, machines, or other progression systems. Before an upgrade, stop the server cleanly and copy both the world and the complete server directory to storage that is not part of the live installation. Include the release archive and your notes about Java, memory, port, whitelist, and configuration.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Announce a maintenance window and stop the running instance normally.
- Make a complete copy of the world, not only selected region files.
- Copy the server directory, launch scripts, and configuration files.
- Read the new release’s notes for breaking recipe, machine, or mod changes.
- Install the new server archive in a separate directory rather than overwriting the old one.
- Test the new directory with a copy of the world first. Keep the original untouched until the test succeeds.
- Give players the matching client release and require them to update before reconnecting.
- If the upgrade causes corruption or an unrecoverable mismatch, stop it and restore the previous directory and world copy.
Self-hosting versus a managed host
Self-hosting gives you direct control over Java, files, launch scripts, backups, and release pinning. You pay with the hardware, electricity, upload bandwidth, router configuration, monitoring, and responsibility for recovery when the machine or internet connection fails.
A managed provider advertises one-click Supersymmetry installation, Forge 1.12.2 support, NVMe storage, and DDoS protection. Its published memory bands are the same 6–8 GB for 1–5 players, 10–12 GB for 5–15, and 12–16 GB for 15 or more. Those are vendor recommendations, not neutral performance measurements. Availability and exact pack versions can change, so verify them before purchase.

| Decision factor | Self-hosting | Managed hosting |
|---|---|---|
| Java and file control | Full control over the runtime, scripts, mods, configs, and backups | Depends on the provider’s control panel and support policy |
| Availability | Depends on your hardware, power, and home internet connection | Provider facility and network handle the underlying uptime |
| Networking | You configure firewall rules, router forwarding, and public access | Public connectivity is normally provisioned by the provider |
| Backups | You must design, schedule, and test them | Compare the provider’s backup automation and restore process |
| Attack protection | You supply your own filtering and network protection | The advertised offering includes DDoS protection; confirm its scope |
| Version pinning | You can preserve an exact release and test upgrades independently | Confirm that the control panel offers the Supersymmetry release you need |
| Technical support | You diagnose Java, Forge, networking, and world problems yourself | Support depth varies; check whether modpack and Forge issues are covered |
Choose self-hosting when you already have a reliable always-on machine and want unrestricted filesystem access. Choose a managed service when port forwarding, 24/7 availability, or DDoS mitigation matters more than total control. Compare the recurring price, server location, cancellation terms, backup retention, support response, and version controls before committing; the available material does not provide a neutral price or performance benchmark.
Troubleshooting common failures
The server exits immediately
Run java -version outside the launcher and inspect the launch script’s Java path. Supersymmetry targets Java 8; a newer runtime may be selected when multiple Java installations are present. Also confirm that the archive was extracted completely and that the process account can read and write the directory.
The console asks for the EULA repeatedly
Stop the server, read the generated EULA file, and accept it according to Mojang’s terms. If the prompt returns, check that the file is in the same directory used by the launcher and that the server account has permission to save it.
Players receive a mod or registry mismatch
Compare the client and server release identifiers first. Reinstall the client from the matching project release, then compare Forge and the mods and config directories. Do not add individual mods from another pack to “make the list match”; use the project’s complete distribution.
The server lags or runs out of memory
Observe the machine while players are online and generating terrain. Compare the process’s allocation with the player-count ranges above, leave RAM for the operating system, and increase allocation gradually if monitoring shows pressure. A larger heap cannot compensate for a saturated CPU, slow storage, or network latency, so record which activity triggers the problem before changing several settings at once.
Local players can connect but remote players cannot
Recheck the configured port, the host’s stable local address, the operating-system firewall, and the router’s forwarding destination. Test from a genuinely external network. If the router has no reachable public address because of carrier-grade NAT, ordinary port forwarding may not work; you will need an alternative network arrangement or a managed host.
