To host a live talk show or podcast, choose the format and rundown first, then select a production setup, prepare guests, rehearse the entire broadcast privately, and assign someone to manage audience comments. A basic online show can start with a laptop, webcam, microphone, and suitable streaming software. After the broadcast, keep the recording and plan how to publish or clip it.
Decide what kind of show you’re making
A live podcast records and airs in real time. It can be streamed online or recorded in front of an in-person audience for later publication. Decide on the format before buying equipment or choosing software: a one-to-one interview, a recurring conversation with co-hosts, or a rotating panel each calls for a different number of guests and production controls.

Also decide whether viewers can submit questions live and which segments will recur in each episode. These choices shape the studio layout, guest workflow, and who needs to monitor the broadcast.

Keep the rundown short enough to use while hosting. Include the opening, the main conversation or segments, any clip or screen-share, audience Q&A, and the close. Prepare guest names, questions, transitions, and graphics ahead of time. A rundown gives co-hosts and guests a shared plan without requiring the conversation to feel scripted.
#1 Best Overall
- [Natural Audio Clarity] Operated with frequency response of 50Hz-16KHz, the podcasting XLR mic delivers balanced audio range, likely to resonate with your audience. Directional cardioid dynamic microphone corded will not exaggerate your voice, while rejects unwanted off-axis noise for vocal originality and intelligibility during your PS5 gaming streaming video recording. (Tips: Keep the top of end-addressing XLR dynamic microphone AM8 facing audio source, and suggested recording range is 2 to 6 in.)
- [XLR Connection Upgrade-Ability] To use XLR connection, connect the podcast microphone to an audio interface (or mixer) using a separate XLR cable (NOT Included) . Well-connected and smooth operation improves audio flexibility to make you explore various types of music recording singing. The streaming mic isolates the pristine and accurate sound from ambient noise with greater no interference and fidelity. (RGB and function key on mic are INACTIVE when using XLR connection.)
- [USB Connection with Handy Mute] Skip the hassle of setting something up and plug the cable to play the dynamic USB microphone directly, which suits for beginner creators or daily podcast. You can quickly control the gamer mic with tap-to-mute that is independent of computer/Macbook programs to keep privacy when live streaming. LED mute reminder helps you get rid of forgetting to cancel the mute. (RGB and function key are only available for USB connection, but NOT for XLR connection)
- [Soothing Controllable RGB] RGB ring on the desktop gaming microphone for PC, with 3 modes and more than 10 light colors collection, matches your PC gears accessories for gaming synergy even in dim room. You can control the RGB key button of the dynamic microphone USB directly for game color scheme gaming or live streaming. Configured memory function, the streaming microphone RGB no need to repeated selections after turnning off and brings itself alive when power on. (Only available for USB connection)
- [More Function Keys] Computer microphone with headphones jack upgrades your rhythm game experience and gets feedback whether the real-time voice your audience hear as expected. Get the desired level via monitoring volume control when gaming recording. Smooth mic gain knob on the PC microphone gaming has some resistance to the point, easily for audio attenuation or boost presence to less post-production audio. (Only available for USB connection)
Choose a production workflow that fits
There isn’t one universally best type of software. Compare how guests join, how much control you need over scenes and encoding, which destinations are supported, what recording and reuse options are available, and the current plan limits.
- Browser-based studio: Often a practical fit for remote talk shows because guests can join by link; branded layouts and multistreaming may also be available. Check the current service’s destination support and plan limits.
- Locally configured software, such as OBS: Can suit a scene-heavy show when you want detailed control. The trade-off is more setup: you manage scenes, encoder settings, and stream destinations yourself.
For “What’s the simplest way for remote guests to join my live talk show?”, look for a workflow that lets them enter by link and select their camera and microphone without installing or configuring a complex production setup. For “Do I need OBS or Streamlabs to start a talk show?”, no: a browser-based studio may be enough. A local tool is an option when you need its control and are prepared to configure it.

If you want to multistream to YouTube and Facebook at the same time, first confirm that your chosen production service supports both destinations on your current plan. The available documentation establishes multistreaming as a comparison point, not that every tool or plan supports the same destinations.
Use equipment that meets the show’s needs
For many online shows, a laptop, webcam, decent microphone, and suitable browser-based studio are enough to begin. Use the built-in camera if its framing and image quality work for your show. A dedicated USB microphone is one relevant equipment category; there is no established requirement to buy a particular microphone type or model. For an in-person recording, equipment needs differ, and a digital recorder is one possible approach.

- Check that your camera and microphone work with your computer or recorder.
- Frame the shot and consider lighting before deciding that you need a new webcam or lights.
- Choose equipment for the setup you actually have; compatibility and ease of use matter alongside the device itself.
Prepare guests and the production room
- Send the invitation early. Share a calendar invitation and the studio link, along with a brief explanation of which camera and microphone guests should select.
- Check each guest before going live. Confirm their audio, camera, and framing before putting them on screen. Leave time to resolve equipment or recording-space problems.
- Build scenes and materials in advance. Prepare titles, graphics, clips, screen-shares, and transitions before showtime rather than assembling them during the conversation.
- Assign audience duties. Decide who will watch comments and choose audience questions. If nobody can moderate, consider disabling chat or comments rather than leaving them unmanaged.
Rehearse the whole broadcast before showtime
A complete test covers more than whether the camera turns on. Google’s live-streaming checklist recommends testing internet, camera framing, audio capture, and lighting in a private YouTube Studio stream. Rehearse the rest of your path too: destination connection, scenes, guest entry, and any connected destinations.
- Connect the intended streaming destination and confirm it is ready.
- Check internet connectivity, camera framing, microphone capture, and lighting.
- Bring guests into the studio and verify their camera and microphone choices.
- Run through the scenes, screen-shares, clips, and transitions in the rundown.
- When possible, rehearse the full route as a private stream and confirm that the picture and sound appear at the destination.
Allow time for account activation. Riverside’s current help guidance says first-time YouTube live activation can take 24 hours or more and recommends a test at least 24 hours before a scheduled show. This is Riverside’s platform-specific operational advice, not a general guarantee; check your channel’s eligibility and current requirements in YouTube before scheduling.

Host the room as well as the conversation
Welcome viewers, follow the rundown, and keep an eye on guest and destination status while the show is running. If you are hosting alone, avoid trying to conduct the interview and manage every comment at once: appoint a moderator when possible, or decide in advance to turn off chat or comments. Riverside’s checklist notes that video may take around 30 seconds to appear on destination sites; treat that as an estimate, not a guaranteed delay.

Save the recording and plan what comes next
Keep the recording after the broadcast. Publish the archive or add it to a live archive playlist so people who missed the show can watch later. Select useful highlights for clips and direct viewers back to the full recording. Decide who is responsible for the archive and clips before the show, so the recording does not get forgotten after the live session ends.
