Yes—you can host a public FiveM server without changing your router. Run FXServer and txAdmin normally, then give the game traffic a public entry point through a FiveM-compatible outbound tunnel, managed FiveM hosting, or a public VPS. The important distinction is that players need the game endpoint, which normally accepts both TCP and UDP on port 30120; making only the txAdmin web panel reachable will not let players connect.
What “without port forwarding” actually means
Traditional home hosting asks your router to forward an outside port to the computer running FXServer. That approach fails when your internet provider uses carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT), when the router is controlled by someone else, or when you do not want to expose inbound services from your home network.

Without port forwarding, the public entry point is moved somewhere else. Your server still runs on the local machine, but an outbound connection creates a path to a relay. Alternatively, the entire server can run on a managed host or a public virtual machine that already has a reachable address.
- Outbound game tunnel: Your home server makes an outgoing connection to a tunnel service. Players connect to the address assigned by that service.
- Managed FiveM host: A provider runs the machine, networking, and usually the game-server control panel for you.
- Public VPS or dedicated server: You install and administer FXServer on a machine with its own public network path.
All three designs avoid an inbound rule on your home router. They are not identical: a tunnel adds a relay hop, managed hosting trades control for less administration, and a VPS leaves you responsible for security, updates, performance, and network policy.

Know which FiveM ports must be reachable
FiveM is not an ordinary web application. A tunnel that exposes only HTTP, HTTPS, or the txAdmin page is not enough for players. Typical FXServer endpoint declarations are:

That does not necessarily mean you should change the local FXServer port: the service can map its public address to the local game port. Follow the provider’s assigned address and port exactly when testing and sharing the server.

Use an outbound tunnel for an existing home server
This is usually the shortest route when FXServer already runs on your PC and you cannot alter the router. The tunnel agent maintains an outgoing connection, so the router does not need to accept an unsolicited inbound connection. Players use the public endpoint supplied by the tunnel service, while FXServer continues listening locally.
Playit’s FiveM guide uses a dedicated configuration with Tunnel Type: FiveM, Port Count: 1, and Local Port: 30120. Its documentation describes the service as a global proxy for hosting without port forwarding. The same guide warns that free users may not be able to create the TCP/UDP tunnel required by FiveM, so check the current plan, endpoint type, and regional availability before planning around a free tier.

A relay can add latency or depend on a particular region. Treat the assigned endpoint as a network service rather than assuming it behaves like a direct public IP. Test with players outside your home network before inviting a larger group.
Choose managed hosting when uptime matters more than local control
A managed provider supplies the reachable machine, public ports, and often a txAdmin link. You avoid home upload limitations, router configuration, and most operating-system maintenance. This is the simplest choice if the server should remain available while your personal computer is off.

Read the host’s allocation details carefully. Confirm that the advertised port supports both protocols required by the game, whether the public address is shared or dedicated, how player slots are enforced, how backups work, and which FXServer artifact versions are allowed. Ask how you receive txAdmin access and how you recover the server if a deployment or resource update fails.
Use a public VPS or dedicated machine for maximum control
A public machine removes the home-network restriction entirely. You can run FXServer on a reachable Windows or Linux system and manage the firewall, files, resources, and update schedule yourself. This is appropriate for experienced administrators who need custom services or predictable access to the host.

You also become responsible for operating-system updates, account protection, firewall rules, backups, and monitoring.

Prepare FXServer and txAdmin
The no-forwarding method does not replace the normal Cfx.re setup. Complete the standard installation first, then add the exposure method.
- Get a recommended FXServer artifact. Choose the Windows or Linux path that matches the machine or host you will use.
- Launch FXServer and open txAdmin locally. The first-run process starts the management panel and presents the setup flow.
- Link your Cfx.re account. You need an account for server management and registration.
- Create a server registration key. Keep the key private; it authorizes the server and should not be pasted into public chats, screenshots, or resource repositories.
- Deploy a recipe or existing server data. A recipe can create the initial resources and configuration; existing data can be selected if you are migrating a server.
- Review
server.cfg. Check the endpoint declarations, resource startup entries, hostname, and any database or credential settings before making the server public.
txAdmin is included with FXServer. Its default management panel uses TCP 40120, while the game endpoint uses the separate TCP/UDP declarations shown earlier. A tunnel or host must expose the game service, not merely the panel.
Set up a FiveM-compatible tunnel
The exact dashboard labels vary, but the workflow is consistent: install the tunnel agent on the same machine as FXServer, select the provider’s FiveM mode, point it at the local game port, and copy the public endpoint it assigns.

- Create a game tunnel, not an HTTP tunnel. In Playit’s documented FiveM flow, select
Tunnel Type: FiveMandPort Count: 1. - Set the local destination. Enter
30120as the local port when FXServer is using its typical configuration. If your server uses another local port, use the value in its endpoint declarations instead. - Start FXServer before testing. The tunnel can be online while the game process is stopped, but clients will fail until FXServer is listening.
- Copy the assigned public address and port. Share this endpoint with testers. Do not substitute the txAdmin address.
- Keep the agent running. Closing the agent, putting the host to sleep, or changing networks can take the public endpoint offline.
If the service offers only a web or TCP-only tunnel, it is not a complete FiveM solution. The game needs the provider’s FiveM-capable handling of both TCP and UDP. A plan can also change its eligibility, regions, or pricing, so confirm those details immediately before purchase or publication.
Keep txAdmin separate from the public game endpoint
txAdmin controls the server, resources, console, and administrative settings. Treat it as a management plane, not as part of the player connection.
- Protect the Cfx.re account, server registration key, txAdmin setup PIN, panel credentials, and database credentials.
- Do not publish the panel address in a server listing or community chat just because the game endpoint is public.
- Use the provider’s access controls and documented secure administration method when remote management is necessary.
- Review configuration and environment files for secrets before sharing logs or uploading a backup.
The default panel port is TCP 40120. If you can open that panel remotely but a FiveM client cannot join, investigate the game tunnel or host allocation rather than assuming the server is publicly reachable.

Test from outside your home network
Testing on the same computer or Wi-Fi network can hide routing problems. Use a real FiveM client on a different connection, such as a phone hotspot or another household’s internet service.
- Confirm the local launch. In txAdmin, verify that FXServer is started and that the console is not reporting a missing key, resource failure, or port conflict.
- Confirm the tunnel or host status. The service should show an active game endpoint, not merely an online agent or an accessible web panel.
- Connect with the public game address. Use the provider’s supplied hostname and port in the FiveM client. Do not use
localhost, a private LAN address, or the txAdmin URL. - Test from the second network. Join, move around, and remain connected long enough to catch intermittent relay or upload problems.
- Test with a second player. A single successful connection may not reveal capacity, protocol, or resource issues under multiple connections.
- Record the working endpoint. Save the exact hostname and port, along with the date and plan, because tunnel assignments and public addresses can change.
A successful browser test is not a game test. The decisive check is a FiveM client joining through the public game endpoint from outside the host network.
Troubleshoot the common failure modes
The txAdmin page opens, but nobody can join
This usually means only the management path is reachable. Check that the tunnel was created in FiveM mode and supports both TCP and UDP. Confirm that its local destination matches the game endpoint and that you are sharing the assigned game address rather than the panel address. Repeat the test from a different network.
The tunnel agent is online, but the endpoint is refused
Start FXServer and inspect its console for a port conflict or failed resource initialization. Verify that the local port in the tunnel configuration matches the endpoint in server.cfg. If another application occupies that port, stop the conflicting process or change the server and tunnel configuration together.
The provider will not create the required tunnel
Some services restrict TCP/UDP game tunnels on free plans. Check the current eligibility, region, and upgrade requirements rather than trying to force an HTTP or TCP-only alternative. If the required mode is unavailable, use a managed host or a public VPS that explicitly supports FiveM traffic.

Players connect but experience lag or disconnects
Test from several networks and compare the result at different times. A relay path, distant region, saturated home upload link, or host resource limit can affect play even when the initial connection succeeds. Check the tunnel’s region and capacity, then compare with a nearer endpoint or a host designed for game traffic.
The server disappears after a restart
Check whether the tunnel agent starts automatically with the host and whether its public address changes after reconnecting. Keep the assigned endpoint in your server configuration and community notices only after confirming that the service provides a stable address. A home computer that sleeps or loses power also takes the server offline.
A registration key or password appears in a log
Stop sharing the log, rotate the exposed credential through the relevant Cfx.re, txAdmin, or database control, and update the server configuration. Treat any secret visible in a public screenshot or repository as compromised.
Costs, plan changes, and practical limits
Home tunneling can be less expensive than moving the whole server, but the price and feature set are service-dependent. Playit’s current homepage makes marketing claims of more than 1 million users, a $3-per-month premium tier, and 19 datacenters across five continents in 2026. Those are current promotional figures, not guarantees of a particular route, latency, or FiveM feature; verify the live plan, billing terms, region, and TCP/UDP eligibility before relying on them.

Do not buy a router, cable, or other physical accessory as the solution to CGNAT. The required capability is a public game endpoint supplied by a tunnel, host, or reachable server machine.
Which option fits your situation?
- You already have a working home server and cannot touch the router: Start with a FiveM-compatible outbound tunnel, then validate the public game endpoint externally.
- You want the least maintenance and dependable uptime: Choose managed FiveM hosting after confirming ports, slots, backups, and txAdmin access.
- You administer Linux or Windows servers and need full control: Use a public VPS or dedicated machine after checking UDP support, resources, bandwidth, DDoS policy, and game-server terms.
- You are behind CGNAT: Prefer an outbound tunnel or move the server to a public host; ordinary router forwarding cannot create an inbound path through the provider’s NAT.
The reliable sequence is straightforward: complete the normal FXServer and txAdmin setup, verify the game endpoint, expose it through a FiveM-capable tunnel or public host, keep administration protected, and test with a real client from another network. That combination makes a public FiveM server possible without opening ports on your home router.
