Unzip the official server pack into the dedicated directory, or run the matching Forge server installer there. Preserve the supplied libraries, scripts and configuration files. Do not rename files unless the pack’s launcher explicitly requires it.

eula=falsetoeula=true, then save. - Run the same start script or launcher again.
Keep the server window or service running. Closing it stops the server; use the server’s normal stop command before maintenance or backups.
6. Set a sensible memory allocation

Reserve memory for the operating system, Java overhead and other services; assigning every available gigabyte can make the machine less stable. Make every client match
Every player should install the identical Creatopia Unbound release, Minecraft version, Forge version, required mods and relevant configuration files. A server-side change is not automatically enough: many mod-list and registry checks compare both sides during login.

- Do not add an unapproved client mod to the server’s

On the same computer, connect to localhost. From another device on the same home network, use the host machine’s local IP address. A local dedicated server is not automatically reachable from the public internet.

Internet access with port forwarding
- Give the host computer a stable local address, preferably through a DHCP reservation in the router.
- Forward TCP port 25565 from the router to that local address.
- Allow Java or the server executable through the host operating system’s firewall.
- Have a remote player test using the public address and port. Do not test only from inside the same network, where loopback behavior can hide a faulty rule.
If forwarding does not work, check the firewall, the router’s destination address, the public address and whether the ISP uses CGNAT. CGNAT can prevent inbound connections even when the router rule is correct. A tunnel service such as Playit can be a fallback when you cannot receive inbound traffic, but it adds another service and dependency.
Authentication and privacy settings
Keep online-mode=true so the server authenticates Minecraft accounts. For a private group, set white-list=true and add approved usernames from the server console. A whitelist limits who may join; it does not replace account authentication or network security.

Use an SSD and observe before changing everything
World generation and modded storage systems can create heavy disk activity. Start with an SSD, keep adequate free space, and avoid running backups or unrelated workloads during the busiest play periods.
Reduce simulation work when entities lag
If entities freeze or the server reports poor tick performance, lower view-distance and simulation-distance in server.properties, restart, and measure again. These settings reduce the amount of world that must be sent and simulated; adding RAM alone cannot fix a CPU-bound tick loop or a slow mod.

Read the logs, not just the launcher window
Check logs/latest.log for the first error and surrounding stack trace. Repeated errors later in the file can be consequences of the original failure. Record the time, pack version, Forge build and recent changes whenever you troubleshoot.

- Confirm remote players are using the current public address and the same modpack release.
Lag persists after lowering distances
