To hide Recent from Samsung Gallery’s album list, open Gallery > Albums > More options (three dots) > Select albums to show, then deselect Recent. This removes the album from Gallery’s view; it does not delete its photos or protect them from other apps.

Return to the album list and check that Recent is no longer shown.

Depending on the Gallery and One UI version, the same control may be under Gallery > Menu > Gallery settings > Select albums to show. Samsung documents the feature for Android 13 or later; labels and availability can vary by model and region. See Samsung’s UK Gallery guide and Canada Gallery guide.
What hiding Recent does—and does not do
Deselecting Recent changes what appears in the Gallery album list. It does not remove the photos from your phone. Samsung notes that hidden albums may still be visible in other apps, so this is a way to tidy Gallery, not a way to secure media. Samsung’s Japan guidance explains this visibility distinction.

Do not delete a photo from Recent if you only want the album hidden. Recent is not a separate copy: Samsung says deleting an item there deletes the photo from the phone. Change the album visibility setting instead. The UK and Canada guides describe this behavior.
For privacy beyond Gallery
Use Secure Folder
Samsung points users to Secure Folder when they want media kept out of other apps. It is a different purpose from hiding an album in Gallery; consult Samsung’s guidance on hidden albums and Secure Folder for the distinction.

Check whether Private album is available
Samsung documents a Private album feature on select Galaxy devices running Android 16 and One UI 8.5 or later. It moves selected items behind the device’s screen lock and hides them from Gallery and apps that access media. Availability can depend on model, software, and carrier, so its absence from your Gallery does not necessarily indicate a problem. See Samsung’s Private album guide.
