The closest controls do different jobs: Predictive text manages suggestions, while Auto replace controls whether typed words are completed or replaced. Turning off Auto replace does not hide the strip.
Which Samsung Keyboard setting does what?
Samsung’s settings separate the visible suggestions from automatic word changes. The names and available options can vary by device and software version.

- Open Settings.
- Tap General management.
- Tap Samsung Keyboard settings.
- Open Smart typing, if that section appears.
- Review Predictive text, Auto replace, and the spelling or text-correction switches separately. Choose the option that matches what you want to change.
You can also open the Samsung keyboard in an app and tap its gear icon to reach keyboard settings. On older devices, the route may instead include Language and input, On-screen keyboard, and Samsung Keyboard. If a label is missing, search Settings for “Samsung Keyboard” and inspect the available typing options. Samsung notes that menus may look different and some options may be absent on older devices or operating systems. These steps apply to Samsung Keyboard; settings for third-party keyboards can differ.

If you want to stop automatic word changes
Turn off Auto replace in Samsung Keyboard settings. Samsung describes the feature as completing or replacing the word being typed with what it considers the most likely word for the sentence. Suggestions can still appear in the bar for you to select manually, according to Samsung Community moderator guidance.
If you want the suggestion strip gone
Predictive text is the setting Samsung identifies for word suggestions. You can try turning it off, but Samsung’s reviewed support instructions do not establish that this removes only the strip while preserving autocorrect. Check the other correction options available on your device rather than assuming autocorrect will continue to work unchanged.

If you are unsure which behavior is bothering you, distinguish the visible row of word choices from an unwanted automatic substitution: use Predictive text for the former and Auto replace for the latter. They are separate controls, and switching off Auto replace alone will not hide the suggestions.
