Choose what you want to change
| Goal | Control | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Hide Settings Home | Settings Page Visibility policy set to hide:home |
Hides Home in Settings and blocks direct navigation to the page. |
| Remove suggested content only | Show me suggested content in the Settings app | Turns off that content while leaving the Home page available. |
Home is typically the first page displayed when Settings opens. It can show account-related actions and cards such as Recommended Settings, Personalization, Bluetooth, and Storage. Microsoft’s overview of Windows Settings describes its role.

Hide the whole Settings Home page with Group Policy
Use the Settings Page Visibility policy to hide Home. The Local Group Policy Editor is not available on every Windows 11 edition; Microsoft’s documentation describes the policy but does not specify edition-by-edition availability.
- Open the Local Group Policy Editor.
- Go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Settings Page Visibility. Microsoft also documents a corresponding policy under User Configuration.
- Open the policy, configure it to hide pages, and enter
hide:home. - Apply the policy, then close and reopen Settings to check the result.
Microsoft’s policy syntax uses hide: followed by page identifiers separated by semicolons. The identifier omits the ms-settings: URI prefix, so the Home identifier is home. A hidden page is not shown in Settings and cannot be opened through direct URI navigation, Explorer context menus, or other means. See Microsoft’s Settings page visibility policy documentation and Group Policy guidance.

For managed devices
For organization-managed Windows devices, Microsoft also documents configuring page visibility through the Intune Settings catalog or Policy CSP. Use the management system responsible for the device rather than applying a local change that conflicts with organizational policy. Details are in Microsoft’s page visibility documentation.
Turn off suggestions without hiding Home
- Open Settings.
- Select Privacy & security > Recommendations & offers.
- Change Show me suggested content in the Settings app to off.
This setting controls suggested content in Settings; it does not hide the Home page. The same Recommendations & offers area has separate controls for personalized offers, advertising ID, language-list access, and app-launch tracking. Changing the suggested-content option does not turn off those other settings or all advertising across Windows. See Microsoft’s Recommendations & offers privacy settings guide.

Restore Settings Home
Change or remove the visibility policy through the same system that applied it. For a local Group Policy setting, revisit Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Settings Page Visibility (or the corresponding User Configuration policy) and adjust its configuration. For an organization-managed device, ask the administrator to update the Intune or Policy CSP setting. The correct reversal depends on how the policy was set; Microsoft documents both hide: and showonly: modes, but does not provide one universal rollback sequence for every unmanaged PC.
